The opening monologue is actually directly ripped from the opening of the book. Halfbloods do have ADHD and Dyslexia (battle reflexes and their minds are wired for Greek), and the story was written for uncle rick's son who has both of those. The stories actually started a bedtime stories for said son, before rick started writing them down. The movies really do not do the books justice, and the show looks like it is finally going to give us the adaptation we deserve!

they didnt want Percy knowing about Sally (at least, just yet) because they didnt want Percy to act impulsively on that news. Cause also, by that time Grover goes to Chiron and Mr. D about that, they didnt know Percy was a child of Poseidon, so he had no reason nor business going to the underworld, and him rushing down into the underworld to confront Hades? Not a good idea
@sorchamiana3 ай бұрын
I'm curious about this. Do we really think Chiron and Mr.D didn't know his dad is Poseidon? Grover saw Percy manipulate water on the Yancy field trip and could have told them about that, plus Percy had no lingering injuries after the minotaur fight (which happened in the rain) so even if Grover said nothing about the water, it's possible that could've been enough for them to at least suspect. (Also they knew a grand quest was coming and a kid who took out a minotaur with no training certainly sounds like a fairly likely quest candidate). I do still think it's possible they didn't know and therefore wouldn't want him running off to the underworld if he had no business being there, but I also think it's possible they either knew or suspected and didn't want him attempting to rescue his mom at the expense of the quest's success. Because even after Percy has been claimed, when they are telling him about the quest, it still seems like they don't want Grover to tell him even then. Just wondering, because I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt that they didn't know, but I do see why they might've had reason for secrecy either way. 🤷

It's nothing like the Logan lerman adaptation, no hate towards the actors but it was a mess, I think a tv show is a lot better to portray this story and do it justice (and they already are, barely two episodes in). Also, Rick started writing these books because his son has ADHD and dyslexia and he wanted to give him a character he could relate to and faced some of the same struggles which makes it even more amazing. I loved the books when I was younger and later found out I have ADHD myself and having this story helped me so much with not feeling so alien to everyone else. Don't get me wrong, I love my mom but, she can't compete with Sally. Oh and there is incredible significance to Percy killing the Minotaur. The last documented hero (Theseus, I think) to perform said task had years of training and was almost twice Percy's age. Not to mention Percy friggin rips the horn off with pure strength, (something that only Heracles should be able to do). If you pay attention to the monsters that Percy encounters and compare them to the old "myths" Percy shouldn't have lived past the Minotaur fight, let alone anything else. His story makes the trials Harry Potter goes through look like a nice vacation in comparison. Later on he makes a journey that makes the Journey through the lands of Mordor look easy.

Having the original creator work on the adaptation is in no way a guarantee of quality and success. Plenty of them, including Stephen King, have completely botched adaptations of their own work. If one of my stories were to be adapted I would have no interest working on it, leaving it to (hopefully) far more talented people in the world of live action entertainment. What matters is how good the people working on them are as storytellers, whether they are the creator of the source material or not. What made The Last of Us so good is that it was based on a game with a strong focus on storytelling to accompany the game play thanks to Neil Druckmann. The other key was Craig Mazon having respect and reverence for the source material, and both understanding when it must be tweaked for live action. We've even seen examples of the adaptation surpassing the original, like Jaws and Arrival, for instance.

@@georgezp7787 actually, if we want to be rlly picky, grover is not a satyr, as in greek mythology satyrs are human beings w/ equine tails n ears of a horse or donkey; those that have a human body n goat-like horns n legs are called paneides in mythology, singular 'pan'. Rick mixed these 2 monsters into 1 in his books, almost all modern media does this

From what I’ve seen others say, the cuts to black are the changing of chapter to chapter from the book, could be mistaken though

The cut to black is for those who have ads on Disney+

This show is a crap ton better than the movie in both quality and book accuracy. Now I’m a huge book nerd so obviously I read the books first. All fifteen in the Camp Half-Blood Chronicles. I was pissed with the movie because the actors were twenty when they should have been twelve and it hardly followed the plot whatsoever. This does the books justice and hopefully will bring a whole new group of fans into Percy’s world because for me, it’s gotten me through really hard times and gives me people to relate to because I have ADHD and dyslexia.

The cuts to black are roughly around book chapters, which is an odd choice only book readers would catch onto

The cut to black is supposed to be like the end of a chapter in a book. I really didn’t like it, wish they just cut to the next scene

I feel like the cuts to black may be symbolizing a chapter ending 🤔
