Same here and I believe theirs that 1 glitch in Crystal where if you don't Capture Suicine during its 1st ROAMING encounter in Crystal it WILL NEVER SHOW up again on that save file for the rest of the game that glitch I believe doesn't effect Raiku/Entei in Crystal just Suicune.

Well the best that Pokémon Crystal did is finding a teddiursa and phanpy early in the game but you to catch it in the morning plus you can find a early growlithe in crystal

Unfortunately, Safari Zone Houndoom requires using blocks, making it inaccessible prior to beating the Elite 4. However, the Safari Zone and nearby areas do make several other previously postgame only Pokemon families like Murkrow, Larvitar and Misdreavus usable in Johto.

As a kid, being able to play as a girl character was SUCH a huge deal. I remember how excited I was to play Crystal because of that being added. For that reason alone, Crystal is the best version to me.

@andrewbloom7637 Yeah just more of a hassle for something that could have been sold in the department store. My thought process whether true or not was that gamefreak wanted to showcase the new eeveelutions aswell as the day and night cycle so by limiting the evolution stones most players using an eevee would inevitably get an espeon or umbreon depending on the time of day. That's the only reasoning I can think of anyways lol

I really liked Crystal growing up, it was a really fun case of my older brother owned all 3 games, but preferred Gold and Silver so let me play Crystal whenever I wanted to play any of his games. It ended up becoming mine and because of that I primarily played that way more than the originals

Swarms were in Gold and Silver, but the evolution stones from the trainers were exclusive to Crystal. The only stones, other than the moon stones you find and the one that your mom can buy, you could get in Gold and Silver were the ones from Bill’s grandpa by showing him the pokemon he wanted to see (and only one of each stone), so Crystal gave you a way to get multiple.

Crystal version along with Gold version hold a special place in my heart since they were my first Pokèmon games as a kid. Sure they are not perfect and the level curve is quite atrocious, i would say that i had a lot of fun with it back then and also are the reason why i learned English in the first place.

Crystal is better, full stop. I had it as a kid and have fond memories with Umbreon and Typlosion. I wouldn't play vanilla Crystal nor recommend Crystal to others now because if you want to play official Pokemon games, any of the newer gens would be better even with their flaws. And if you're willing to do ROM hacks, Crystal Clear is the best way to play, and I think you can put it on a flash cart and play on real hardware if you really want to. I recommend the ROM hacks more, because like a lot of games from that time, newer games had more QoL changes and can feel hard to play no matter how much nostalgia you might have for the games. So you might need some extra changes that make certain elements less tedious or slow.

I would NEVER subject someone to the torture and godawfulness of gens 7, 8 and 9, those games can ROT in the deepest depths of the underworld. Id only recommend gens 2-6 to someone and Crystal is among the most fun and best to play (though HeartGold/SoulSilver are the best ways to experience Johto) alongside Black 2/White 2, Emerald, Platinum, and FireRed/LeafGreen

Crystal, to date, is the lowest selling sequel to a main series game. While Gold and Silver sold 23 million copies, Crystal only had a whopping...6.3 million copies. Suffice to say, sometimes sequels are just not as good as their original counterparts. Now with HeartGold and SoulSilver, that's a different story

Crystals PC system is unstable and you can lose entire boxes of Pokemon for no reason. There's been a few documented cases of this on real hardware. Gold and Silver don't have this problem in normal gameplay. Also the fact that ACE is so good in Gold and Silver, and VERY EASY TO DO. Like you can change your hidden power type to what you need it to be with ACE. You can force anything to be shiny in Gold and Silver with ACE. You can also do things like inject roaming level 40 Zapdos, Articuno, Metwo, Mew, Celebi and Moltres into the Gold and Silver Johto overworld with ACE. You can hatch any Pokemon with ACE in Gold and Silver. You can give Pokemon moves that they can't normally get with ACE in G&S (meaning that even the Crystal Tutors aren't a redeeming factor for it, vs G&S). The clocks easier to change in G&S too. Literally the only thing Crystal has going for it, is Battle Tower. And in contrast. Gold and Silver can be completed without trading. And you can have everything competitive in your PC without needing gameshark or resetting. So Crystal is always worse. Its factual. Its not even an opinion thing.

Majority of your point was things to do with ACE, which is fine that's your opinion, but alot of players don't care about ACE, glitches, exploits etc. Alot just play the base game and that's all. so for those and others the additions crystal did add like Kris, animated sprites battle tower etc are more than enough to put it higher up than gold & silver. Its also factually proven that the Crystal boxes don't work as intended, and that it can delete all your mons in there, lmao.
