I served in the US Army and deployed to Afghanistan back in the 2010s, and at one point ended up serving several months under Task Force White Eagle (the Polish Land Forces contigent in Afghanistan) and Gen. Bryg. Andrzej Przekwas (Commander of Polish Land Forces) as well as Maj. Gen. Jerzy Biziewski (Commander of the 2nd Mechanized Corps) and a detachment of Polish Grom (their Special Forces). Time Magazine had written an article that was incredibly critical of Polish forces in Afghanistan a year before I ended up serving with them, but having done over 85 missions with Polish Infantry, Polish air support, Polish artillery support, and their special forces, I can say that nearly every single Polish soldier that I met was not only incredibly friendly on a personal level but also incredibly professional when it came to doing their duty. I was proud to have served with them and wish that more Americans were aware that they and our other allies served with Honor and lost men and women in the name of honoring our alliance and friendship. Also, their Rosamak Armored Modular Vehicles and close air support Hinds were absolutely fuckin bad-ass, look em up if you've never heard of them or seen them in action. Bóg, Honor, Ojczyzna--it was an honor to serve alongside you, moi przyjaciele. Remember all the fallen of OEF.

Sadly, in our country there are too many pro russian people. If russia would occupy us (again) about 1/3 would welcome them and await a good jobs in administration under russian control. @@malgolam Sadly yes. Like people here do not remember past. They like to paint it pink, like „Russians liberated us in WW II“. Yeah, country that never lived in liberty, under Stalin and in age of his brutal repressions. Sure. They like to hate USA (for whatever reason) while they absolutely don't know that it was USA who helped to create Czechoslovakia. And without it, there would be no Slovakia. And they absolutely ignore the fact that USA lend lease program actually allowed Russians to win over Nazis. They provided them everything - planes, railroad cars, trucks (famous Katusha would not even get to frontline without Ford trucks), food, boots etc. People here are simply idiots. But yeah, otherwise nice people, but uneducated as hell.

I'm from Denmark but I live in Warsaw. As I understand it from a Polish point of view. They fear a repeat of 1939. Back then both England and France swore to protect and fight for Poland if they were attacked. As history shows they did nothing of the sort and as such Poland was first attacked and occupied by Germany and then afterward by the Soviet Union. Now even with Article 5 of the NATO pact. Poland fears that if Russia attacks none will help. So I don't blame them for boosting their military.

In Poland, we still remember what happened in 1920, and how on September 17, 1939, Russia helped Hitler by attacking us with a stab in the back. Most families still remember someone who was murdered, deported to the Far East, or imprisoned and tortured for no reason by the Soviets. That is why this threat is much more real to us than to others, and why, despite political differences, most Poles support military spending. The fact that the opposition criticizes is its role, but I don't think anyone would dare to block these expenses. Especially since social spending is the main axis of disagreement between the parties, not defense spending.

I think Poland is quite clever here. Apart from just expanding their own army, Poland gains easy access to weapon technology that otherwise would cost years and money to aquire. By producing the weapons themselves they could become a major weapons manufacturer also for the international market. South Korea on their side gets a backdoor into the EU market. This cooperation could be of huge economic benefit to both Poland and South Korea, as well as more safety in areas surrounding the two countries.

there are some serious problems with this view. We (as poles) are buying the know how to service and produce K2 tanks and the K9 self propelled guns. K9 is rather popular in some european countries sadly the one we are buying is the A1 variant where the Korea is already working on the next generation of the current A2 guns that they are using - so the guns will be two generation old. The tanks are other problem. They cost more than Leopard 2 while they arent designed for the european war front - different kind of engagment in flat europe versus mountainous Korea. So i wouldnt expect many or any orders from other European nations for those tanks - they would rather wait in line for the Leopards2 (if i remember nowadays you have to wait 4-5 years before you get your german tanks)

Funny thing is, that Polish made weaponry is really really good, like surprisingly good. The Topaz integrated combat management system is key here. They're connecting everything together single information about position and targeting enemy will be shared across all types of forces. Closeby Apache witch they're getting ~90, supported with light combat aircrafts fa50 with guided bombs/missiles, all covered with just insane ammount of high precision artillery. They're going for non nuclear, nuclear capabilites. This really can level the entire cities down with single volley. They make badass scouting drones, manpads with insane success rate, their own 3 step air defence system integrated with patriots, but a lot is made by them. Very good engineers. Check out the computer science rankings for coding world wide. And as a cheery on top their Borsuk IFV turned out to be much better than newest Korean AS21 Redback.. and it's an amphibious beast. That puts things in perspective. Well done lads!

@@Frankon81 I understand. South Korea didn't design the tanks with a European theatre in mind. But perhaps Poland producing and further developing them could change that? Perhaps not this current tank would be such a big success in Europe but the next generation could be? And you mentioned problem of slow process with the German Leopards. Maybe the Koreans wouldn't make such problems? Anyway I think it's an exciting cooperation project.

The Soviets did the same in Poland as they are doing now in Ukraine in the occupied territories. Not only women suffered. By Stalin's death, most of the Poles from the political, military, scientific elite and even artists who had not been killed by the Germans had been murdered. When I was a kid in America in the late 80s/early 90s, there were a lot of jokes about Polish people. I didn't understand where that came from, because I was just a kid and had Polish friends, and the joke was always that Poles weren't smart, which in my experience is the opposite of the truth. Plus, my grandmother's family came to the US from Bialystock, so I am 1/8th Polish, and half Ukrainian. I have nothing but respect for Poland and Ukraine, and if I was younger I would go to Poland and Ukraine and visit the cities my ancestors came from, before joining the Ukrainian army and fight the bleeding bear.

Every time he took a bead on a target a Pole would flash between him and it and shoot it to pieces at heart pounding closeness. My father was a monsterously good brickworker, he did all kinds of special renovation work and projects after his work hours with rare stonework/bricklaying methods and was incredibly skilled in his craft. Now, He is Dutch, so why does this story matter. In Holland there is a term called '' In de kost zitten '' Which means working abroad. My dad was once in Poland to rebrick and work a old section of houses that survived the war. He got there becouse in his own line of work back home we have alot of Polish people in the workforce and they work, incredibly hard. Now my dad was educating this young Pole and he got invited over to repair these houses. When he was there this kids dad was looking at my father doing his work every second and soon after half the village turned out to watch him ply his craft. After all the work was done all these men came to him, hat in hand and thanked him for the work he did. The whole place got quite emotional, they wanted to fix it but the Iron Curtain was still up, so they they could not.And the Poles under Stalin, later Gorbachev exc where not allowed a national identity. Everything had to follow the stateplan and having houses taking up space that could be used for appartments to house more people outside of ancient city centers left standing was quite rare. This is where this turns into a socio-political mindset lesson. And I will make this a short one. I compiled this oppinion on not only the story my father told me of this event but also from the stories I got from Polish employees I work with on a daily basis. In the last 125 years the nation of Poland had been formed. Invaded, broken up, reformed, invaded again and reformed again. If you want to name one central European state that suffered beyond what should be capable to be bourne by a collective psyche. It is Poland. First it was Soviet Russia, then National Socialist Germany, then the Iron curtain came down and Stalins terror raged over the lands. Now they are in the Nato and the European union and having suffered for so damn long during the last century, they look at a resurgent Russia agressively attacking their neighbor. Now many EU member states, Holland included, simply are NOT performing their side of the bargain by a 2% national defense upkeep. The Poles deceided that if they would not find the strong shoulder they should, on paper an quite frankly, deservedly so find in Nato or the EU deceided to act for themselves, and rightly so .Now, wether the PIS is currently Polands leading political party or not. Poland has deceided that their people would not suffer like their grandparents did. Ever again. Becouse Poland remembers what happened when the U.S.S.R was in Poland. When Germany, was in Poland. What has been done, on Polish soil, to others. They deceided, that will, Never, Ever, happen again.

@@w.k.7277 you are not the same country that commited those atrocities. You had finally gotten your national sovereignty back, and shortly afterward was subjected to the world wide depression of the 1930s. You were invaded first by the Nazis, then later by the Soviets, and your country didn't have the resources or ability to fight them off, just like France. Yes, some Poles corroborated with the Germans, but so did a lot of French and even the British prince (Elizabeth IIs father or uncle) was personal friends with Hitler. Wealthy American anti-Semites including Henry Ford and Prescott Bush, the father of America's president George H.W. Bush, and Grandfather of President George Dubya Bush gave support to the Nazi cause. And although I'm Jewish, 1/8th or 1/4 Polish and half Ukrainian, my family came to America 10 years before WWI, around 1905. So while I know I had family that was murdered in the Holocaust, it was done by a different Germany, and had they not invaded Poland there wouldn't have been concentration camps in Poland. Plus, I could never hold people accountable for the sins of their ancestors. Every human on the planet is a unique individual, and no country is a monolith. I judge people on their own character and actions. Poland, Germany, Italy, and Japan all have my respect for evolving so quickly in the 20th century. And I have the utmost respect for the Russian partisans who have been sabotaging the Russian military from inside their own country since before the current war. Many Russians hate Putin, because his decisions over the last decade have negatively impacted their lives. And America is even a very different country than the one that fought in WWII. What South Korea wants from Poland is not just a buyer of weapons, but also a safe arms supplier. Being located at the very center of the Europe continent, Poland, which has been the gateway to expanding power from east to west and from west to east, has a strong demand for national defense along with its attractive industrial power. In particular, the history of Poland, which had to experience its land being torn apart twice by Germany and Russia located on both sides, has a strong patriotic spirit that values national security. In addition, the environment equipped with industrial power based on agricultural economic power, which is one of the best in Central Europe, is sure to have a superior position as a supplier with a market with many buyers right next to it, if cheap production is possible as a production base for weapons. The Republic of Korea, which has joined hands with Poland, not only expands the market, but also guarantees a stable supply of necessary weapons from a safe 'rear factory', even when the country is militarily in danger, when it is difficult to rely on the United States, a traditional ally. . In addition, it is possible to cooperate in various fields, from simple sales to performance improvement and development. Among the known military theories in China, there is a saying called far-sightedness 遠交近攻. If the distance is far, it means to get close to each other, and if the distance is close, it means to attack. When the true meaning of this word is applied to the ancient situation, it is understood that it is difficult to get close to each other because if it is far away, there is nothing to be gained by attacking, and if it is close, there is no choice but to quarrel due to conflicts of interest. If you think of this like the line “Keep close your friend, keep your enemy closer,” said by Vito Corleone in the movie The Godfather, it becomes clear where to find a reliable friend. Poland is a friend Korea wants to make. like the US...

It will also allow Korean companies to benefit from licensing of the technology, establishing production in EU and better access to other European markets. From the US, I am an unabashed Polandophile. When Russia invaded Ukraine, Poland moved quickly and decisively as they saw through Moscow's bullshit, just like us in the US. Meanwhile, Germany and France made sounds of appeasement towards Putin, to their great shame. The German and French politicians quickly realized which way the wind was blowing and changed their tone, but that they NEEDED to change their tone at all shows how much they want to collaborate with Russia. So, people of Poland, I tip my hat to you all, and am very glad to call you my nation's most important ally. Keep being awesome!

George Friedman already predicted and talked about the rise of Poland as a military power in Europe years ago in his book "The Next 100 years." What is unfolding now in Europe just validates and confirms George's analysis and prediction. Hat off to George, an amazing geopolitical strategist. Let's see how things will play out from his analysis and prediction in the new book "The Storm Before The Calm."

@Anthony Thai - that is true. Mostly because of that particular location within the Europe (looking at the whole continent). Pretty much in the middle. So there is definitely a lot to do with geopolitics and also usuall approach to a current "politics". On top of that you have a very specific history regarding "relationships" with Russia (and also Germany). And in my personal view, I hope Poland will just get stronger, regarding military, and also defence capabilities. Also, in this video, Israel may be a wrong example - as they spend a lot of military, but also have a support from US. A lot. I cannot remember the numbers per year as such, but definitely there is multi-billion dollar "help" from US each year, and it has been like that for the past 20+ years. So it is also worth to remember it, when comparing Israel to any other countries (regarding the military approach).

We'd demand that they do what's best for us not best for Hungary.

And as for sitting on von der Leyen's skanky lap whispering sweet nothings in her ear, drop me out geezer! But cosying up with Putin 😲 you reckon a communist imperialist who yearns for the return of the Soviet Empire has good intentions for a small country that rose up against that vile oppressive tyranny? Right now it looks like we have nothing but more chaos to look forward to. Weak, incompetent wannabe dictators make people yearn for competent dictators. Okay, so being in the middle of Europe surrounded by people who want to get rid of him and having dubious allies, in terms of realpolitik who is he supposed to cozy up to? China? They're a long ways away. The UK? Nobody has ever trusted the English and not regretted it, right? Ask the Scots, Welsh, and Irish how that goes. Finland? Hungary needs somebody they can trust at least for a while so they'll play the Bear off against the EU. The Soviet Empire was trying to recreate the Russian Empire. There are certain ideas that the Russian have that transcend government - buffer states, ports that can't be closed to them by other governments or ice, recreating the Empire, strong rulers, and the idea that the Russian people have a special destiny. If you get rid of Putin, you'll end up with somebody else with the same ideas. Who knows if the next guy will be better? He could be worse. In the mean time, you can't bet your life on morality in a world that's falling to pieces.

As a polish person living in the UK since 1994, watching this video has filled me with a immense sense of pride. My grandad fought in WWII, he fought the German's while riding on a horse when the German military invaded Poland, the Polish army had no chance against the German tanks and planes. He had to flee to Russia and join their army to fight the German's and push them back all they way to Berlin. I've read my grandad's war diary's and he always mentioned the fact that if Poland had a large number of tanks, planes and infantry just like the allies did, then the German's wouldn't steam roll through Poland. Sadly my grandad isn't around with us anymore, but he saw that having a large number of tanks, planes and infantry definitely gave the allies a better advantage at winning the war. He fought all the way to Berlin and saw the Russian flag flying, he survived the war and he has always been a hero to me. But he always mentioned to my dad that for Poland not to go through the horror of a another invasion, it needs to up its game in making sure it has the best and largest military in Europe, tanks, planes, infantry in order to defend its self properly. My grandad was never proud of the fact that he fought on the Russian side during WWII, if my grandad was alive now I'm sure he'd be utterly angry and disgusted towards the Russian's and its leader for what they are doing in Ukraine, but he would be immensely proud of Poland for scaling up its armed forces and helping out our dear neighbours in Ukraine. Thank you so much Warographics for uploading this video. Top notch quality as always, keep up the excellent work guys.

16:12 - K9 are NOT Krabs. Krab is Polish design marrying K9 chassis, AS90 Braveheart turret, Nexter/Rheinmetal designed barrel (not sure which one, current ones are manufactured in Poland but both companies are mentioned as providers to the initial units) and Polish: Fire Control System Topaz and also Polish Command Vehicles. K9 are wholly Korean design and they are supposed to be "polonized" by at least plugging them into our Topaz (which is also being introduced to other Polish used artillery equipment). There are talks about having later versions of K9 include lessons from Polish experience of Krab design and Krab real world usage in Ukraine.

This guy is a paid warmonger. There is no military superpower with ruined economy. Ukraine was supposed to be one and what happened? Army annihilated whole country devastated all legacy of USA trying to preserve the falling empire. US can't fight Russia so is trying to weaken it with proxy wars. Poland is next but first you have to radicalized Poles so they hate Russians and this was done already. Next make them believe how great they are and they have the sure backing of US. I dread to have this history repeated and hope that Poles wake up and kick US out before is too late. US will betray Poland as they always have done.

yeah we ain't coming close to the commonwealth, we don't have that potential anymore, but doesn't hurt to try anyway. Let's also remember that the commonwealth collapsed largely under it's own weight, hubris, pride and corruption. let's just not do that again. I wouldn't mind tightening of the cooperation with the post commonwealth countries, even if for nostalgic reasons.

Second thing is I dislike as much american imperialism as much as any other. Only thing to hope is for France and Germany to grow independent enough from usa so we can be left alone and not forced into things, but then again Germany is the reason we've been dependant on Russian gas and now paying the price(literally), it was USA's takeover of Ukraine that led to this war and it's France's thing to surrender so I don't know how long should we wait for something positive to happen for once.

Since the fall of the Warsaw Pact in 1989 Poland has been able to enjoy the longest stretch of independence in 200 years. Routinely being partitioned by Russia and Germanic powers. Poland seems to be willing to do anything necessary to bolster itself and has every reason not to trust their allies. Never forget that Britain and France declared war on Germany using Poland as the pretext but never guaranteed their independence from the USSR and even abandoned them after the war. Americans particularly don't understand why many Europeans hold on so tightly to the legacy of WW2 but Poland is the ultimate example that one catastrophe can mean the destruction of your country and your peoples futures.

As a french I hate hearing all this polish non sense. All the worst events of France history came because we tried to help the poles (1812, 1940). "Britain and France declared war on Germany using Poland as the pretext" That is the kind of phrase which makes me want to vomit. Neither France nor the UK wanted a war, they would have had tons of pretexts before if they wanted to. And in 39, France didn't declare war on russia because it already was at war against germany, and adding another superpower as ennemy (after already declaring war to germany for poland) would have been a new degree of stupidity. They love to speak about their imaginary "western betrayal", forgetting that just one year before ww2, they teamed up with germany to play landgrabing against the czechs, which destroyed the attempt of german containment. The poles have never done anything for anyone, and keep spitting on those would tried to help. Even today, they spit on france at any occasion, while france gives 10 billions to the EU every years, and the poles receive 10 billions from the EU every year. Quite franckly, I have no idea why so many french people continue to vote for politicians in favor of NATO and the EU, which both are of no use to us, but serve eastern rednecks who anyway hate us.

Been married to a Pole (woman) (actual woman) for 25 years and, including the years we were dating, everyone - absolutely everyone - I spoke with over there believed Russia was a "only matter of time" threat. They didn't much care for Germany but considered that was a spent force (for now) but the over-riding driving force for them wanting to join the EU was to protect against Russia, they all knew the EU would not be a comfortable ride even so. To put things in perspective (at least a Polish perspective but I think it is very valid) in November I walked into the main square in Krakow and saw around the monument a big protest against Russia over Ukraine. The last time I'd been to Krakow I'd walked in through the same road and saw in the same place a big protest against Russia over South Ossetia - no doubt I missed the Crimean one. We need Putin to suffer a sudden death so much - I would say slow death but I fear what lunacy a dying Vlad might inflict in his decline.

I was born in Poland and have lived here for over 40 years. Reading so many beautiful comments flowing from all over the world, I feel really proud of our nation. Our country is not an easy place to live, but it is not the most difficult either. We Poles have been very divided in recent years by internal political conflicts and it has always been in our history that the development of our country was stopped by internal conflicts. What has always united us, however, is a strong unity in the face of danger. The attack on Ukraine, so unnecessary and octave in its effects, reminded us of the times of the past and it is incomprehensible to us why everyone in Europe who knows the history of our continent from the last 100 years does not speak with one voice. Why there is no agreement for a common position and support for our neighbors from Ukraine ? Europe can certainly afford it. You & we just have to want and believe in a free and safe Europe, and not look at your / our own interests. I hope that what once happened to our grandmothers and grandfathers will never happen again. It is very sad, however, that such a conflict had to happen again in Europe.
