I was there last week. This place was recommended by the boss of a hair salon which I visited when in Penang. He told me this is a perennial favourite of where the locals eat and can vouch for the authenticity and reasonably priced food. I like the char Kway Teow. It’s better than the overrated one at Penang Road which I find too salty. I also tried the wonton noodles. The tasty wontons are big and substantial. Wanted to taste the very popular Cendol but it was closed as it was their day off. The tea/coffee in the coffee shop is however one of the worst I’ve tasted in Penang. 😅

Thanks for your comments! We enjoyed the CKT too. This hawker place is definitely one of our favourite places to eat in Penang. We didn’t see the cendol on the day we visited.

Mee Jawa goreng is the local Chinese version of Mamak Mee Goreng. The more popular is the Mee Jawa rebus which equivalent to Mamak Mee Rebus.

i think the sauce for the penang "orh jian / orh luak" is primarily oyster sauce? Anyone else able to confirm/correct this?

We weren’t given this option. Was what we ate look like the typical mee jawa?

Mee Jawa originally is with gravy. Just google it and you will see the pictures!
