Great research on the 'Forever Chemicals' topic! Truly gives us frustrating details on today's produce. Worth mentioning that the given by FDA limit on PFAS ppt has been proven to not exclude severe cases of consequent symptoms in long-term. So in other words, even foods and drinks containing the "safe" PFAS ppt (for instance 1.0) can still have bad long term effects on health, while being completely legal. I've actually worked quite a bit with PFAS and PFOS and the actual trouble with PFAS (I'm just calling it PFAS since that encapsulates it all) is not the direct intake through food. As mentioned PFAS are extremely abundant in plastic and many other products. When these are dumped somewhere over time small amounts will leak into the soil and eventually into the ground water cuz PFAS are quite soluable in water and if nothing is done, eventually the concentrations will only rise since PFAS are essentially impossible to naturally break down. This is why it's also ridiculously important to limit the use of PFAS in everything, not just consumption.

The creek near where I grew up and close to where I live now has had a Do Not Eat advisory on all fish caught in it for the past couple years. It's because of the *horrid* levels of PFAS in the water from the nearby military base's use of firefighting chemicals. This creek empties into the river, but luckily that river is tidally linked to the Atlantic Ocean in my area, so the river itself is fine.

Are we sure? It’s “FOREVER CHEMICALS!!!” 💡
@loganl37465 ай бұрын
@@empress_me Luckily, the amount of water from the creek is miniscule when compared to the size of the whole river. Plus then add the water back-washed into it from the ocean. Dosage makes the poison. Your body can expel a certain amount of PFAS in a period of time. As long as you follow the "x fish per month" guidelines, you'll be fine. But the issue is that if the amount of PFAS you ingest isn't being accurately calculated (say, because your electrolyte drink doesn't follow guidelines), you might be more at risk of illness than you realize. Which is part of the point of the video. Nice scare quotes. The "forever" part comes from how PFAS don't quickly break down in the environment, not that they are forever in your body.

This reminds me of a.. of a time I was speaking to my good friend Orville. We were... we were sitting on a park bench watching the pigeons. I was on the left, he was on the... oh wait. Was I on the right?.. or left? Anyways, it doesn't matter. We were sitting on there, watching the pigeons, and I.. uh.. I said to Orville: "Friend, those birds are frozen!" He... kinda looked at me like I'd lost my mind. But I reminded him that it was winter, y'know? And often birds will sit in a tree until they'd freeze... Then they'd, they'd, you know, sort of fall to the ground until the sun warms up, an- and they can, y'know, move around again. So I said to Orville "You'd might as well save those breadcrumbs until the birds thaw, because they can't very well enjoy them in the condition they're in." To which he asked what I meant, and asking what condition the crumbs should be in before he threw them to the birds, assuming that I had meant the birds couldn't enjoy the breadcrumbs in the condition that the crumbs were in, when in fact I had meant the birds couldn't enjoy them in the condition that the birds were in, considering the birds were frozen, y'know? So he took a moment and then threw his last handful onto the ground. I said to him "Orville, why did you throw the breadcrumbs to the birds when I just told you they're frozen?" To which he responded "The breadcrumbs are not frozen," again misunderstanding my words. I didn't mean to say that the breadcrumbs were frozen when I told you they're frozen. I've been referring to the birds. You know, in hindsight, what I - what I should've said was - and this would make perfect sense: "Why did you throw the breadcrumbs to the birds when the birds are frozen?" He misunderstood upon my correction, stating that he didn't know what else to do with the breadcrumbs, and that perhaps, y'know, when the birds thawed they'd still be able to eat the crumbs. So I...I..I said to Orville - I said - This is what I said to him - I said: "Orville, the birds may be dead." And remember, follow the dreamer, find the truth

You guys are all right, even Logan. You’re not increasing your chance of getting PFA with just drinking his prime drink but the fact that it’s in Every. Single. Thing. and no big company wants to acknowledge that they should stop using it and blame everyone else but them selves is the problem. It’s ridiculous that we as consumers have to be the ones to think before we buy when these companies are able to get away with these things.

i acually learned about forever chemicals this year (9th grade). PFOA is in your drinking water due to Dupont so there are forever chemicals in your system due to your water. You can thank Robert Bilott for starting the awareness of forever chemicals and suing Dupont.

So there’s this chemical that’s put into most salts that prevent the salt from clumping. At first that chemical doesn’t seem so dangerous since it can only really cause harm when in contact with gasses, but since a stomach has gas the chemical will have a reaction and becomes highly dangerous. Now I don’t know too much about so I was wondering if we could get a theory about it

There’s no such thing as an independent study. The plaintiff didn’t use independent research, its research conducted by someone looking to sue Prime.
