Only complete morons think the FDA actually do anything at all. They literally don’t care about anything you do unless you’re trying to provide something truly healthy for the people in which case they’ll tell you it’s terrible and toxic like raw milk. The lie to you and say you’re going to get E. coli or some garbage like that that’s not even remotely possible with today’s technology but they’ll keep lying to you and telling you how unhealthy raw milk is when the reality is raw milk is so incredible for you plus people who are lactose intolerant can actually drink raw milk because raw milk contains enzymes that naturally break down lactose in your stomach which means that lactose intolerance only exists because people drink milk that has been heated to the point where all of its natural enzymes in benefits have been burned out of it, so don’t believe anything the FDA has to say their goal is to keep you connected to the medical industry which keeps you paying for drugs that have insane Side effects

As someone who takes medication for concentration and for anxiety, I wanted to try GFuel, but after seeing that it worked better for me than coffee, I wanted to consult with a pharmacist before buying more. Now, what I asked her was specifically if there was any counter-indications from any of the ingredients with any of my meds, and while I expected disapproval from some of the ingredients in the energy part of things, like caffeine or taurine, it ended up that the only really problematic ingredient in there was the _grapefruit fruit powder_, listed as part of the antioxidant complex, because apparently grapefruit contains something that can lower the efficacity of anti-anxiety meds. 7:25 I’m a paramedic, and I’d like to add something to this whole but that’s unrelated to the food and gamer drink point of this episode. I honestly didn’t fully understand how this worked myself until Mat explained caffeine here, but I think it’s interesting to others, especially if a paramedic tells you they’re using it on a loved one. In the US, at least, and likely other countries and territories, one of the essential drugs for EMS and emergency rooms is Adenosine. It’s used to slow down tachycardias (abnormally fast heart rates) to stabilize a patient’s heart. I always thought it had some kind of reaction on the heart because the way my instructors explained the pharmacodynamics of Adenosine was unclear at best. This makes a ton more sense that it’s a brain reaction. Adenosine also has a short half life in the body. I’m talking 10 seconds short of a half life. In medicine, generally speaking, if a medication experiences 5 half lives in the body, it’s more or less ineffective at that point, so Adenosine, at least for my purposes, only has 50 seconds to work. It needs to be pushed via a good IV site rapidly to have any chance of working. When it does get through, it does what I call a “heart soft reset” because it reminds me of restarting a computer with the Restart command. Knowing the info from this video makes it clearer, to me at least, why this happens, and I’m glad I saw this video when I did. All this to say, thank Matt for educating me and others.

Always love the research put into these videos! Would love to add that most of GFUEL isn't 300 Milligrams of Caffeine. Some of the cans, yes. But half the cans only half 140mg while every powder GFUEL is also 140mg per serving. So not quite as heart attacking in most cases! Thanks MattPat!

I think it would be interesting to have an episode about coffee, teas and drinks like mate and why tea doesn't give us a cafeine crash like coffee does!

I assume it's because tea doesn't have as much caffeine as coffee. Sodas contain more caffeine than some teas.

Iirc that was talked about in other videos or the taste test he did with Santi
@rsmorex Жыл бұрын
@@sheridanwolf there’s a reason they tell you to like comment and subscribe in every video… a good KZbinr doesn’t assume you’ve seen all their videos, they assume this is the first video you’ve seen on their channel. So to ignore or skirt around the unhealthy aspects of every drink that isn’t a soda seems disingenuous.

In terms of what the criteria is (avoiding the sugar content and associated crash) it makes sense. Also, artificial sweeteners are not bad for you at the level they are talked about at, especially in a culture where we WAY over consume sugar especially.
@kandieharrison4055 Жыл бұрын
@@drommsy I agree... it's honestly kind of sad how much hate products with artificial sweeteners get... As a Diabetic (type 1), I've had to consume almost exclusively foods/beverages wiith artificial sweeteners since I was 4 years old. While yes, some are much better than others, they're treated like this terrible thing, when it saves lives. And it concerns me with how much sugar my friends and family consume because they think it's fine for them, since they aren't Diabetic... it's a shame that people think that way or they know it's bad for them but ignore it because they don't like the taste of artificial sweeteners or just don't trust them.

The 300mg cans for gfuel is apart of their older production line. Any new flavors for their cans are 140 that are the same amount as their powders. So unless you are drinking their older flavors you’re only getting 140 mg of caffeine

I'd love to see if there's a study on how these drinks affect those with Narcolepsy, especially since its still not 100% clear exactly what and why for it. As it was explained to me, Narcolepsy makes it so the brain doesn't have well defined sleep/wake barriers so we can pass from one to the other without even knowing. So blocking our receptors can be good. I actually take a stimulant daily help keep my receptors blocked so I don't just fall asleep while driving.

Hey mat! I have a video idea I've been wondering about the minimum amount of food (in grams/kilograms) one needs to stay alive assuming reasonable nutritional value obtained from that amount of food. Also assume that the person's maintenance calories are 2000 Could you dive into this? concept? I think the answer would just be calorically-dense foods blended as a shake. What do you think?
