Feel free to post your honest opinion. To little to late for Avid? Or do they have a chance at a comeback?

They keep adding new useful things unlike in the past. I grew up in real studios, and ProTools works like that so it’s my favorite best audio editing no problem handling midi.

I know very well Studio One and Protools. I prefer protools for some reasons: -I edit faster in protools - I love audiosuite for RX and vocalign - the controllers avid S1 has a better integration than faderport 8/16 ( there is no auto bank when I select a track in the daw) - the waveform visual is better in protools. - the strip silence is better in protools - the stock plugin is better - interface color is better - we see the grid better - we can fades and crossfade with only one shorcut (F) - studio one has no EUCON - studio one looks like a toy - when you insert a plugin in studio one, it's always go at the end of the inserts.

I'll probably stick with Studio One 6 Professional.... for now.

Thanks. Your opinions and up-to-date info are crystal clear. Though I use Logic Pro almost exclusively, I do teach music production in Studio One as well. Had tried Pro Tools but feel more comfortable in the Logic UI. I was always disappointed with the Pro Tools licensing subscription. Nice to see that Pro Tools will continue after the sale, and that the decision to provide perpetual license is again on the table.

I’m content with Presonus Studio One 6 pro. No complaints & they are always improving.

PT is the one I go to most often, Cubase next. It is still the most direct, uncluttered easy to use DAW on the planet when I have to get stuff done by Friday I don’t play around with the others.

Studio One all the way.

Had to go back to Pro-tools from Ableton mix wise. I start becoming dissatisfied with the master summing within Ableton. Pro-tools does sounds better to me. What you hear in the box, thats what you get in the print.

Come back, you won’t regret it.

Protools made sense to me when computers were not so powerful yet and we needed hardware acceleration, and I loved the audio editing features in protools even though midi editing functionality has always been very weak, but today I only use S1 primarily, Logic (and Ableton occasionally)

I’m a diehard PT user. But UA Luna is NOW FREE annndddd it’s downloaded on my computer 😅. For “testing purposes” lol… pro tools has to step up its game to compete with the other DAWs and the access to those DAWs users have. They also have up work on stability

Just got pt 12studio perpetual. Have been with logicx for allmost 10 years. İ nkw mix in protools, under heavy loads start stop is snappy quick, logicx has to much latency. Even though protools looks cartoonish. My mixes actually sound better, overall. İm glad i got it. İts a nice way to have a clean work flow. İ Produce in logicx , mix mastering in pro tools. Cheers.

I hate the bus setup of pro tools. S1 all day. I’ve had pro tools since 9.

Here is things pro tools does have i wish s1 had. The ability to link ( mirror ) plugin parameters ( settings ) across tracks in real time. Which is a grouping feature in PT. I find the automation in PT to capture more details than S1. The new feature that allows you to play audio from other apps in PT is a feature I’d now like in S1. Besides those things I prefer S1 by a lot.

I think business as usual in the short term, in the long term, I think a concerted effort to help the home studio creator, and introduce new features and integrations, as they have been doing more and more in the 15 years I’ve been using it.

I still don't get it, why people say it's easier with Protools "you can just send the session, and not have to export stems....".... I have never ever seen two studios having the same plugins (both fx and instruments) so it makes no sens to me to send the session. It will never sound the same it you don't have the plugs needed. That's why sending the stems is better. You will hear the stuff as intended... I prefer that.

They should listen to their users and actually improve Pro Tools with modern features. Stop their "we are the beginning and end of DAWs" mentality and learn from Universal Audio by relaxing their small world mentality. In other words, Avid should bring VST technology to Pro Tools to mention only one thing. Too expensive as well.
@danymalsound10 ай бұрын
Universal Audio has far more revenue streams to work with. Avid only makes a few hardware pieces and I doubt they're selling many AIR licenses as third-party plugins

I loved ProTools but it is sooooo much left behind Logic, Studio One, Cubase etc.. It is only good for the old big studios with old engineers. Let that nearly dead horse just die in peace. I had to work with PT some weeks ago coming from Logic/Reaper and man, it felt like changing from a modern BMW 7er to an old Toyota Prius. It was just sad.

I'm using Reaper but starting to get frustrated with it, and thinking about exploring Pro Tools. Could you elaborate what you found Pro Tools missing that Reaper currently has? (Reaper would be awesome if they hired a freaking UX designer, fixed the inconsistencies between the keystrokes, and made the whole user experience more 'aerodynamic'. Oh, and if they solved MCU control properly, finally. Eucon does seem really sweet from the distance, but I haven't used it in action yet...)

I don't think protools should be rewarded for their nickel and diming behavior. In my opinion $200 for 32 tracks is just more of the same

Oh no dude... don't do it!!!! No matter how nostalgic their pricing model is absolutely outrageous and Slow Tools is laggy as hell... Studio One spanks their pink ass in every category!

I personally hate the plugin chooser in Studio One, and the fact that you cannot in/out them with ticks like in Reaper. Actually, I think Reaper's plugin chooser/plugin manager window is the most versatile and usable. (Logic is awful, too, it's baffling to me why they cannot include a search bar for plugins)
