Me, my family and extended family are indigenous and some even work with various groups across North America, and brands like Indian don't bother us. For many of us, it's nicer to see people get joy from aspects of our traditional cultures, something people see as cool, respectable, and strong rather than something to ridicule or worse yet -- complete erasure. There are far more pressing issues, I assure you. It is generally the activists that get platformed by media who tell everyone how offended we all are (on our behalf), but we are more hardy and good-spirited than that. Most would rather people know, love, and cherish in our culture with us than to be treated as people that need to be kept separate and away. It would be different if they were acting in a harmful or disrespectful way but I don't see it as such. Having said that, Honda is still my favorite but I very much like the Indian Challenger.

That is interesting hearing your point of view and it seems you have hit the nail on the head by saying that the media and do-gooders have taken it upon themselves, or listened to extremists, to act offended on the groups in question behalf. When Freddie was talking about how the name of Indian motorcycles might be changed, I could really understand it, although thinking about how youngsters are brain-washed at school, it wouldn't be a surprised if they would stop buying something because the media said so. Indian motorcycles are a respected classic brand and from my point of view I can't see why people would be a offended.

As card-carrying member of the Comanche Nation, I had never heard of any other Tribal member having been offended by Indian Motorcycles' usage of the word "Indian". The football team you're referring to is the Washington Redskins. The term "Redskin" is categorically offensive. While I personally never had a problem with it, the thought to change it was frankly nice to see as long as the community genuinely supported the change. Don't be woke, be informed.

My last bike was an Indian. I have never heard of any tribes having any trouble with the name of the company or the bikes. Maybe they are and I just missed the story . I can see getting pissed at the name Redskins because that is racist. I think in the Baseball teams case it was more the mascot than the name . Anyway like you said they can always go back to Victory. People know the brand

I owned a 2022 Nightster and I finally go rid of it because of its constant problems. I bought a 2023 Street Bob which is a plain motorcycle without any electronic options to cause problems. As for the comments on Indian Motorcycles, I reside in western North Carolina in the United States and it borders on the Cherokee Reservation. I asked many Indian friends and they like the name and the headdress. If they find no problem then the “woke” people need to shut up. I am glad to see that corporations in the United States are beginning to rid themselves of the “woke” culture.

Many years ago an AA instructor once said motorcyclist usually make better car drivers. Thats a sweeping statement of course. His reasoning was motorcyclists being far more aware of their surroundings....they have to be spatially aware at all times and anticipate what other road users intend to do....There is a lot of truth in ''Sorry Mate l Didn't See You'' because in a great many cases inattentional blindness plays a huge part of why car drivers, pull out in front of other road users including motorcyclists.

As a vintage moto collector. I always had a new turnkey commuter. In 2012 I bought a new Hayabusa. The fun factor went away after 2 weeks. I felt you don’t ride it. You could just leave it in 3rd gear and drive side streets and highway and not shift. It took away the feeling you get when you ride. After a year at 5k miles traded in for a V7 racer. I get to down shift to pull a hill or mountain. Back to the enjoyment of riding. The Hayabusa is the only bike I don’t miss out of my 40+ Moto collection. With only 2 being less 10 years old or less.

Typically, the American worried about the Indian name is not the type of American riding motorcycles, no offense. Also, there are even certain tribes doing petitions to get that football team's name back. Saying it keeps their heritage at least in the limelight. As someone woth Native American heritage, i signed it. Sincerely, an American tired of all the woke whining over stupid stuff that doesn't really matter! That is also why any new models from Indian motorcycles do not have names like that. The only ones are the names they've always had. New models get generic names. Think challenger, pursuit, etc.

Him more than me though Hehehe. . .thank God for wheelie control. . .but add 40hp, and cut the weight in about half, and I can’t imagine. . .how does the ZH2 even stay connected to the road, but 5th gear roll on must be memorable and addictive. There are some awesome bikes out there. I actually live in Germany so high speed blasters are usable here in some areas... In UK........ I honestly don't think you need more than 100 bhp.... I was looking at the H2 in a local dealership. It’s unbelievably heavy, beautifully built. Just ordered a little Tuono 660 factory - chalk and cheese compared to the big kwak. The trouble with these hyper bikes is mostly the high running cost because brakes, tyres and chains have to cope with all that mass and velocity and will wear as rapidly as the bike goes. The every day living with it, parking it, pushing it around makes me sweat just imagining it. The dealer told me that the H2 was one bike that was regularly dropped more during manoeuvres than being ridden fast. I think these kind of bikes are itches that must be scratched just to get them out of your system. If you want one, you’ll always regret not owning one if you don’t get one. Not my thing these days, but can’t doubt the attraction.

The reason teams and other companies use names like Indian, Braves, Warriors, Chiefs etc, is because they are revered. They align themselves with those names for the same reason they use Lions, Tigers, and Giants. The bravery of the Native Americans is LEGENDARY. The Indian Motocycle is seen as unstoppable for a reason. Victory is just a ripoff of the name Triumph.

Beware RE bikes. There are reports on KZbin (check out 'Old School ADV Rider') of very poor engineering standards - worn valve stems at low mileages, exhaust valve heads falling off the stem causing extensive engine damage, oil pump drives with sprockets loose on their shafts.. RE might be spending money on appearances but cutting corners in engineering. These shortcomings will not be detected by reveiwers as they don't have the bikes for long enough.

Thirsty_Fox is spot on here. Your commenter referencing the pressures applied to the Red Skins NFL team is incorrect. It did not result in empty stadium seats. The seats emptied after the name change to "Commanders" because the franchise lost lifetime fans of a storied original American Football team. They also lost fans and bled money because of their mismanagement of the handling of players taking a knee during the National Anthem. Indian Motorcycles are not going anywhere and they certainly won't be changing their name. Harley Davidson has more chance of disappearing for various reasons than does Indian.

The bike I've always fancied is the V7 Moto Guzzi. But buyer beware! A local dealer had one come back for a rear caliper replacement under guarantee, and it's been 4 months sitting in the shop waiting for the part. So long out of action that the dealer has had to buy it back off the owner. A friend tells me 6 months for parts is pretty standard for Guzzi. Not the dealers or the importers fault - it's the factory.

Good luck to anyone stupid enough to take on Polaris with the intention of changing the brand name "INDIAN MOTORCYCLE"... And as for replacing it with their previous brand name Victory is just ridiculous, Polaris waited very patiently in the background for years just watching other companies arguing through the high courts, when all was done and dusted Polaris steped in and sealed an agreement so that they could use the iconic brand name knowing that it would boost their sales with the new Swiss Auto Bullet Proof Indian Flat Track Racer to compete with the likes of HD, Polaris has set the benchmark for others to follow, and have since retrieved the 50s & 60s Indian Flat Track Team name "WRECKING CREW" ..(short version).

In 1998 the Polaris snowmobile company began selling Victory motorcycles, meant to compete with Harley Davidson. The Victory brand never caught on with American buyers, and in 2007 Polaris bought the Indian brand, builders of motorcycles since 1901. With that credibility and name recognition, they slowly replaced Victory with Indian, as their motorcycle brand. In 2013, the first Polaris Indians left the showrooms, powered by an all-new V-twin engine, and marked the beginning of the end for the Victory brand. By 2017, it was all over for Victory, as Indian innovated and moved up market.

@@clemfandango9534 You are so wrong. A supercharger is not like a hand pushing you forward. The sensation is the opposite because the vehicle is going forward while your body is being held back by physics. You have to pull yourself forward to keep from sliding off the back. When I open the throttle on my Ducati, I push my toes down, I squeeze the tank with my knees, and I pull my upper body forward by pulling on the handlebars. Ducati has the best electronics package and the way they put the power down is unreal. The supercharger is overhyped. Power to the ground is all that matters. The problem with offering a new 350 for under 300p pounds, is that now a used one is worth way less. Not great for all those with a 350 who now are looking to upgrade..... Bikes already devalue rapidly, this just adds to it. The price of buying a new model.....

The individual who previously corresponded with you concerning sports teams adopting names inspired by Native American tribes holds a perspective aligned with a minority postmodern progressive movement. However, the prevailing sentiment among individuals of both European and Native North American heritage is that these names serve as a tribute to proud and resilient people. Importantly, there is no evidence linking these names to negative economic consequences. It is advisable to approach narratives with a critical eye and seek factual foundations before accepting them as truth.

Kawasaki service costs aren't cheep and I only own a 2022ninja 1000sx major service £650 every 7500 miles £270.00 basic service, dread to think how much they would charge on a turbo charged bike, 2 sets of tyres fitted every year kawasaki dealers charge £920.00, and mine is just a toy not used every day. Motorcycling is not a cheap hobby.

RE are double in price compared to India so big profit margins even if u take into account import costs . The issue about bigger bikes now is the insurance , these companies are just stating any London postcode rather than taking all safety precautions in. Isn’t about time police started putting decoy bikes to grab these toe rags. My mate videos kids on two scooters riding up to his bike . These riding costs are driving numbers of riders down and consequently manufacturers are moving to smaller bikes . I m starting to feel like a dinosaur having litre plus bikes for 28 years

At around 20:15 you say the cost of insuring the bike is "£228 a month" which is so horrendously high it nearly gave me a heart attack. However, when I looked at the screenshot you showed I'm pretty sure the tickbox is set to "annual", not monthly. 😁 I think you might have scared a bunch of viewers away from buying a SV650! 😂

If that Pan-American problems is more common than the ones that reached out, that are really bad news for Harley Davidson. I see the more traditional brands coming up with new concepts but Harley seems to always not be successful in their recent endeavours, from the VROD to the new Sportster. Maybe the M8 engine is the exception.

Freddie, answer me this, for a first bike, just for fun, country roads, speed not important, style and character are important, £5k budget, would you get an air cooled Bonneville similar to yours or a bullet/classic 350? Will

Wow, your insurance rates are crazy expensive. I have a 2022 Ducati Diavel and it cost me $140 per year for insurance. I have 4 street bikes, all under 2 years old and I only pay $540 per year (with theft coverage).

Harley Davidson has always been "Harley-Davidson". 1903 to the present, almost all production bikes are tried and true, low revving, long stroke, torque turners. The moment they ventured into the Pan's and new water cooled Sportsters should immediately have sent alarm bells. This is not only foreign to Harley-Davidson but unappealing to their customers... You either want a motorbike, OR, you want a Harley-Davidson. If the later, buy the Harley that Harley has always done... Don't expect cutting edge anything and you should be reasonably satisfied... I love the H2 Kawasaki's and another reason why I love Kawasaki... They dare to go that step further, Kawasaki horses are simply bigger animals, When buying a H2, be sure to have mastered the art of "Zen and the right hand" before you hand your money over 🙂A H2 in the hands of a Zen Master is a dance to behold.

I'm increasingly of the opinion that for a road bike, youre better off with something that you can ride to, say, 85 percent of its capability and still retain two things - a safety margin, and your license. On a 200 hp sportsbike, im never, ever going to explore its potential on a public road. Even my Thruxton 1200 is arguably too good for public roads. (Metaphorically , of course 😂) I need to be doing 100km/hr in 60 km/hr corners to actually make true use of its handling. This seems a waste, let alone a Zh2 as a daily ride.

It's a tragedy that we live in such bizarre times that certain very extreme and miserable people choose to believe that naming something in tribute to a fine people is treated so negatively as cultural appropriation, when the exact opposite was the intent...... As for a 200hp bike, well it scares the living daylights out of me just thinking about it! lol 🙂

You showed the low price of the RE Himalayan 410, but with their new 450 which finally has a bit more power, why would anyone but the older 410 model. It's a shame they didn't stretch it to 500 or 650 or more for the EU and make it a completely different model. I'm sure Himalayan lovers will be keen to upgrade but have they just killed the 410?

Agree the ZH2 is a fast bike but the engine has no character. Not that comfy on long journeys when I rode it. Inline 4’s have had their day, only my opinion with now 270 degree parallel twins or V twins, even V4’s or even triples that sound better with T-plane engines. Only inline 4 that sounds good is the Yamaha cross plane big bang engine.

You can enjoy the Kawasaki's level of performance for less than 10k if you want to. A Suzuki Hayabusa would be virtually as fast. Prices on Autotrader currently start at 3,750 quid. A BMW S1000RR is another strong contender and Autotrader prices start at less than 7k. I think Royal Enfield 350 prices are very expensive for what you get. You're only talking about going to the shops or commuting to your bowls club. You said yourself (in a previous video) the bike would struggle to make 70mph with Monika on the back, so why would anybody want to spend 3 to 4k on it? If Indian have to drop their moniker a good alternative would be "Native" or "Pioneer" or "Western".

The Indian name was already controversial when they bought it. They knew what they were doing an unlike a few ball teams, they are invested in keeping the name. As for legal problems? They have done nothing illegal or slanderous. An besides that, who would have legal standing to bring a case, an what are the damages?
