I came back to say, I've had my triple bass purple clay from Imperial City Ocarina, and it sounds so good now. It starts good, but it gets better

It’s really interesting that the moisture from your breath makes the ocarina sound better overtime. Do you think placing this ocarina beside a humidifier would have a similar effect?

Aire- I also wonder about quenching it like those old tea pots but with the price point I do not recommend any experimenting.

It really comes down to preference because one of the things I love most about the purple clay is the amount of air it needs. I just sold an Icarus that was way too delicate for my taste.

Thanks for all your reviews! I have a question I am soon going to buy my first ocarina my budget is $200 and I wondered if it would be better to get ceramics as a beginners or get a purple clay since its better sounding? Any advice helps thanks!

Have you played ocarina before? Or another woodwind?

Ooo! That's exciting!! We actually have a video about plastic vs. ceramic beginner ocarinas on the less expensive range for people who are just starting out! But with a budget of $200 you can probably get yourself something fairly nice! Purple clay does tend to be a wee bit more expensive, though... For about $270 you can get yourself a purple clay double chamber from STL Ocarina, which would give you a bigger range of notes. About $160 will get you a purple clay single chamber 12-hole ocarina in C major. Their purple clay ocarinas have the nicest sound quality available from their store. So if you know you're going to be really serious about learning to play, you may want to go straight for purple clay! But if you haven't already, check out our video on beginner ocarinas: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nl62ZoWbn6uanKc Aire is very fond of her Aria. :D

I really want to know how purple clay reacts to moisture in the atmosphere- does it get damaged? Because I live in a place where it can rain a lot
@PianoRogues Жыл бұрын
I know purple clay picks up moisture from playing.... I am not sure how much it will be affected by general humidity. If you are concerned about moisture when you are storing it, you can get a case for it and keep a packet of those silica pellets in the case with it to help absorb excess moisture.
