This is the workout video ocarinists didn't know we needed! Seriously though, that's a great tip for the wrist exercises 😊

No way, you posted last week's video right when I was deciding on a ocarina and now you posted this one the day my Songbird Harmony Triple arrived! Impeccable timing I must say

I picked up the ocarina many years ago and stopped when I had kids. Picked up a new one, from Amazon unfortunately, but it sounds ok. Been binge watching your content this past week and have learned a ton. Thanks for everything!

Hi Andy, I recently started playing the ocarina (a year) and I have a few questions for you. I think that these questions concern many people, and it seems to me that this would be a good topic for a video) 1. If you divide all ocarina players into 3 groups Beginner, middle, master, then what skills would you allocate to each group. What is the distinctive feature of playing the instrument in each group? Well, how can I test myself, at what level I play.. 2. Do you have any idols that you look up to? What do you like about famous KZbinrs playing the ocarina? Well, or other masters who play the ocarina. 3. I recently read that a 12 hole ocarina theoretically cannot produce high notes without air. This is physically impossible due to the design, so some ocarina makers stop at 10 holes. What do you think about it? 4. I recently read an opinion that instead of buying a 12-hole ocarina, it is better to buy a two-chamber ocarina because it has a larger range and sounds better, the sound is more stable than that of 12 holes, the creators of which are trying to squeeze out the maximum. What do you think about this? It would be cool to conduct an experiment/comparison of the same songs on a good 12-hole vs 2-chamber. I would do it myself, but I don’t have a multichambers ocarina to compare with. 5. I think the AC ocarina sounds quite high and the high notes sound like ultrasound. I don’t understand why they invented the soprano ocarina if it plays above the highest note of the AC ocarina. The top notes, even on AC, can cause unpleasant sensations in the ears, probably everything is much worse in soprano) It would be interesting to hear a melody that really sounds better on a soprano ocarina than on an AC. Thanks in advance for your answer)

1. I think he has a video something like this going over five or so stages of ocarina competency not sure how I’d rate it but I’d say intermediate players probably can read sheet music with decent proficiency, can pick apart songs by ear, play mostly in tune and most likely are already playing multi chambers, know a few songs and can incorporate some slightly advanced techniques 3. It’s true that alto c ocarinas (12 hole models) either have airy high notes or crappy low (a, b) notes and typically it’s hard to find one without this issue, which is due to the design. I’d say it’d be better if more makers made 11 hole alto c ocarinas, as that fixes the problem and the low an isn’t used nearly as often as higher notes. 4. I’d say it depends. If you already play a woodwind it might be better to start on a multi chamber, although construction of these types of ocarinas isn’t at all easy and the design creates its own set of problems, not to mention airy high notes can still very much be a problem on multi chambers (check out STL’s plastic triple to see what I mean.) But, if you buy from a reputable maker a double or even triple is definitely worth it, and that extra range is certainly very nice. 5. Honestly me too. It could be where you’re playing, or it could be that you’re very sensitive to high pitched noises. I noticed high notes sounded way higher when I was first approaching them, versus when I had been playing for a few weeks. Soprano is used typically for live performances or in very large rooms or outside, where the sound waves aren’t assaulting your ear drums. They definitely have a place, but the high f on an alto c is quite enough for me 😂 Sorry if this was long ;-;

Hey! I’ve been getting into your channel, and just gotta say, you are very underrated imho. Do you have a discord server? If you do, where can I join? If you don’t, are you planning on ever making one? If someone who isn’t Andy knows the answer, please do tell also!

do you have a multiple chamber ocarina you'd recommend for someone who's only played 12-hole ocarinas? i'd love to increase my skill to eventually get the songbird triple harmony, but I assume that's not a good multi chamber ocarina to start with
@TheChosenGeneration-n9x2 ай бұрын
Which imperial city triple ocarina would you recommend for a large range? I plan on getting a imperial city triple chamber if I get better at the triple chamber ocarina.

Second comment!!! I wanna learn a multi chamber ocarina at some point (Probably the Songbird triple harmony, cause I like how it sounds) buuut I wanna get good with my basic transverse before trying to take on a multi chamber lol

I would like to ask about dolce and forte ocarinas. I thougt that there is only forte and dolce, but then I saw in focalinks web one that says "regular" and no "dolce". Is it the same regular and dolce? Or is something focalink has and no other ocarinas? (Since focalink is the only branch where I see a "regular" model) thanks very much!
@AndyCormierYT Жыл бұрын
I'm not 100% sure, but iirc "forte" ocarinas are higher breath pressure and play more loudly (perfect for live performances) whereas "dolce" is lower breath pressure and more quiet. Regular is probably somewhere in the middle, or "dolce" would be considered "regular" I don't have enough focalink ocarinas to be totally confident in this explanation, but I'm 99% sure about at least the explanation of "forte" models!

Hi Andy! I’m deciding between a four chamber crazy range and the three chamber from ICO which one would you recommend?
@astridposey Жыл бұрын
Three chamber is more useful for the price of the ocarina. The crazy range is more for playing flute concertos.
@5thkiechannel Жыл бұрын
@@astridposey but isn’t more range just better overall?
@astridposey Жыл бұрын
@@5thkiechannel to an extent. If you're not going to use the full range, and you're paying extra for that fourth chamber that you're not gonna use, then it's not great. But if you want to play all your ocarina septet parts on one ocarina for recording, then sure, go for it.
