Let's just agree that normal people who has genuine empathy and sympathy, would not allow a war to happens. So red flags for him for any possible personality disorder.

It would be interesting to explore sub-types of psychopathy as I suspect impulsivity, for example, is not a core factor in analyses, or contributes little to psychopathy sum scores in a regression analysis in non-incarcerated populations. Putin has an iron will, to be sure, but that is not inconsistent with psychopathy, per se. Also, if his affect or emotional responses were to be analyzed more deeply, I suspect he would have sentimental attachments to certain figures and/or institutions, but be otherwise quite unemotional in much of his personal life. His primary emotional displays seem to stem from anger and resentment. He is certainly cold-blooded, and he has a tendency to speak euphemistically. He is known to be "charming" or at least attempts to be so in certain contexts, despite a basically reptilian character. That he falters in the attempts shouldn't matter (he is not socially skilled or smooth, though he tries to effect the appearance of same). Upshot: I think a few of the factors here may be artefactually speaking on the low side but not diminish his essential psychopathy. In this respect, perhaps it is a kind of measurement, if not conceptual, error. Putin is quite unusual in his professional history and successes, and that is likely contributing to an apparent departure from the profile. Consider, for example, how being at the top of the heap in an antiquated political/quasi-Tsarist system, a qualified despot, might impact his scores on a number of factors. I wonder what Dr Hare and those actively researching and clinically working with psychopathic personalities would say?
