I think the idea with Rellor evolving by walking might be that walking makes it roll its ball around so that it collects more "mud" I think it's a pretty cool design cue for Rabsca to be constantly spinning the energy ball. Kind of adds onto its cyclical life stages

Very good video. Though I’m surprised you didn’t bring up how Rabsca is one of two Pokemon that can learn Revival Blessing. Maybe I’m missing something but I think it’s fitting an immortal Pokemon would know a move that can revive Pokemon.

Tried to tie in Revival Blessing but didn't have as strong of a biological basis so I left it out for this video. Fits Rabsca's general theming perfectly though

If rabsca evolves by leaving behind a husk could it be related to the nincada line? Or is it more likely convergent evolution?
@matiasvalentine26288 ай бұрын
Convergent. I'd say other beetles like Heracross, and Orbeetle are its close relatives.

Rabsca became my new favorite Bug type pokemon the moment I saw it. It was obscure, colorful, and it confused me.. which is to say I immediately loved it. It felt like there was more behind the surface of this one. When I learned of and saw a video online of the “actual” Rabsca inside the orb… that moment is one of those special core memory pokemon moments that I know we all have had. When you’re flooded with a sense of wonder, curiousity, and fascination. I love how two decades later, Pokémon is still inspiring these unique and impactful moments of wonder and awe within me. It’s so cool. Your breakdown of Rabsca is great. You’ve made me even more of a fan of both your channel *and* Rabsca! ❤

It's quite an interesting take on a Pokemon's lifecycle. Rabsca's physical body is still functional, while it's consciousness is being transfered into the baby inside the ball as it slowly begins a new life. In the mean time it uses psychic powers to "puppet" the old body solely to protect it while it incubates. I'd be down to see an evolution for Rabsca in the future, it's quite an intriguing one.

Steps instead of time has precedent in Pokemon, as hatching Eggs takes certain step counts and not just waiting out time.

That's a great analogue! I should've put that in the video 🥲

I personally think that what the two dex entries combined entail is that it rolls the ball until it reaches nirvana and evolves, and when the rabsca dies, its soul is transferred to the newborn in the ball, being reborn.

It could be interesting to think that rabasca is afraid/dislikes ghost and Dream Eater pokemons due to its psychic baby self.

It's also drawn from Khepri, an aspect of the Egyptian god Ra (it's in the name lol) depicted as a scarab or a man with a whole scarab for a head. In the mythology, Ra dies every night as his sun barge travels into the underworld so they get their 12 hours of sunlight. During that time Khepri joins the voyage and at the end Ra merges with him and resurrects himself for the new day (his old body is unceremoniously dumped into the underworld's river) and the cycle begins anew.

Probably not the right person for this but considering horse shoe crabs can find in the general area of Delaware and I imagine a few other places I can't help but wonder why you can't catch at the very least find kabuto in the wild.
@geekecology4 ай бұрын
As far as people from the Pokémon universe know, Kabuto went extinct and only existed as a fossil until their revival technology was created. Only then did they start to show up in the wild, but only in a select few areas. We may have modern horseshoe crabs alive today, but there were probably a multitude of related species that all went extinct.

i was already enjoying this video as it was interesting, polished and about a pokemon i'm a huge fan of,(although i'm such a diehard pokemon fan that i have something good to say about all pokemon not named watchog) but the ending absolutely blew me away. rewinding back to the intro to conclude the video is such a good way to end it when the video is about rabsca, and i don't think many creators would have thought of doing that. i certainly wouldn't have!

For a Rabsca to clone, it needs to have twins.

You should condense this video into a short. Because there are many shorts that are scripted in such a way where they loop naturally into themselves
@gerald25088 ай бұрын
Very cool video. I have been trying to figure out why Rellor (scarlet entry) treasures its mud ball more than its own life. The other part of the entry states that the ball is made by investing psychic-energy into 'sand and dirt'. Rellor (violet entry) says it rolls the ball while 'the energy it needs for evolution matures' but does not tell us if this power is stored in the ball. The best I can think of is that the ball contains a copy of the maker's consciousness to be adopted, presumably by a larva. The other idea, not mutually exclusive, is that it is a store of energy to be cannibalized by others for the good of the species. What do you think?
@geekecology8 ай бұрын
The store of psychic energy to be used later on by the larval stage is a cool idea! It would mirror real dung beetles' utilization of dung as a food source for their offspring!
@gerald25088 ай бұрын
@@geekecology I just thought of a far better idea, instead of eggs, the larvae start life as psychic-constructs: if Rellor survives to evolution these are compressed and reformulated into Rabsca's 'child', but will instead become a number of offspring if the 'parent' dies. This mirrors how dung beetles rear their grubs and is a perfect reason to value the orb over its own survival.

I think I heard Pokémon don’t have to use the bathroom and they excrete waste through moves that are like energy blast like flamethrower or thunder bolt but I’m not sure
@geekecology8 ай бұрын
I've never thought about that, but that would be hilarious
@BJGvideos13 күн бұрын
It's brought up in a dex entry that Sandshrew (or Sandslash, one of them) doesn't produce waste. Which means that's special and most mons do
