Having raced in late 60s and early 70s if your worried about crashing don’t race. I had a career ending crash at Brands and broke my back and it was the slowest crash I ever had. From that day have missed racing it is a drug and still haven’t got over the withdrawal and I’m in my 70s now

Good video as usual. Got my first bike in '71 and did an ACU road saftey course (kept mum happy) police instructor said "If you never fall off a bike you're not learning how to ride, if you fall off at the same place every day you should be put in a straight jacket". He also drummed in "Wear the best kit you can afford". 70 next birthday, still ride, still wear the best I can afford, try very hard not to fall off now, it takes ages to get over it but I accept I will at some point, hey ho.

"Two middle aged blokes in an 300 ZX playing with knobs" 😂😂😂😂 had me dying with laughter! Also "thats an advanced technique I'd say" very funny too. Nothing better than old fashioned humour

Like a couple of other comments, I raced Motocross in the early 80’s at Expert level in the AMCA and had a few broken collar bones and finally did my tib and fib which put my out of my apprenticeship for 6 month, but I’m 59 now and would still jump on a mx bike now, but I wouldn’t be able to just ride round as the brain would still send it but my body wouldn’t handle it. I’ve got a lovely Kawasaki Z1000R Performance which is my pride and joy and now enjoy riding that. Point being I get what you mean as you kind of forget the pain of the injury once it’s all better and just get back on again and go for it. Keep up the great work, love the channel and can’t wait for the next video to land.

Massive thanks for this video, I will play the last 10 minutes of this on repeat to anyone who tries talking me out of bike racing. I, like you am obsessed with all of it - had a big high side at the last round and landed on my head, couple of days in hospital and can’t wait to get back out. Similar repairs to yourself as well so although it’s not ideal I feel less alone 😂 Every man and his dog is giving it the big one about how I shouldn’t race again, I am the only one of my friends and family that’s into bikes. It’s great to hear from someone like yourself that my mentality is a shared one! Keep up the vids and defo push more bike content! 👍🏻

So recognizable! "I've got this, and then you don't." And then you still manage to do all required to minimize damage/impact and people do not understand how you can just get up/out and deal with the situation like you let a carton of milk slip from your hand in the kitchen, or if possible, drive on. Making mistakes is part of driving/racing and what makes a good driver is the ability to deal with the mistakes and carry on. It's not about never falling, it's about getting up and keep going.

Pop down the link centre car park and you’ll find a Corsa gagging for that knob! Damn, that sounds as bad as your take on it now,.🤦‍♂️ But yep, racing bikes you gotta take the crashing with the good stuff, MX myself but many a crash but the days, Months and years of great days out in them far outweighs the crashes. Yeah some hurt more but like you say, got to accept it as part of the journey!! 👍🏻🤘🏻

Ok I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought of this But why not mount convert cameras to the bike front and back or even two at the front until at the back and record to SD card !!! Simple !!! THE CRASHING FETISH COULD ACTUALLY BE A MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEM!!! NOTHING TO BE AFRAID OF THE DRUGS ARE EPIC

2.5 mm allen keys are standard for grub screws that are M5 (or i it M4?). An on M3 regular socket cap heads. At that size, it's 25% of the size difference, so kinda worth the half size between 2 and 3mm. I can usually just look at an allen bolt and tell what size key it needs. The ones I absolutely can't figure out is the size of Torx. I always grab one that is either two sizes too small or two sizes too large, have to go back to the tool drawer grab the next one, and then go back again for the one that actually fits. [Unless I've recently done the same screw or bolt before and KNOW the size - but if it's something I haven't done for a while, it's still going to take two or three goes before I find the right size].

I’m now retired 7 years as a Audi tech at dealership level in Canada 🇨🇦, I go in and visit the boys now and then and they are seeing roller rocker failure with bearing seizures or falling apart and destroying the cam as well. Since you’re not a dealership how do you have access to Otis.
@toeknee2u
@toeknee2u 2 ай бұрын
Roller rockers, notably on the V6 petrol seem to be a reoccurring issue. There's a YT'r on here, 'VAG Technic' based in the UK, a VAG Specialist that has observed a certain production span of this engine where the rollers are ejected from the roller casing bearing after some wear has occurred - with the ensuing carnage. Seems Audi know about it too, there's a revised bearing where the rollers are now somewhat larger in diameter, making it more difficult for them to exit the casing. There may be contributory reason for the failure such as poor oil maintenance, but the stats..... 🤨🤔 The engine otherwise seems well built.
@nickpappas4133

@@toeknee2u both motors I looked at had two different style of roller bearings, both 3.0 litre V6. I agree well built motors. But I wouldn’t own one.

Hello Rick, Whilst I contemplate driving many miles for you to look at my gen 1 V8 just thought it might be worth asking....... MOT emissions CO great HC great, Lambda not so great(fail). The reading is 1.051. Things I done... oil service, spark plugs, new lambda sensor (post cat) and in desperation stuffed rags in the tail pipes at the mot. It has a miltek resonated (15 years now) ...I've run out of ideas mate. Any thoughts 🤔 . Steve Gee.
