The Book of Enoch is fascinating to me. Ultimately, men decided what the Biblical canon would be. Whether those men's selections were inerrantly directed by God or not is up to the individual to decide.

Sure...all such writings are interesting. Not saying they aren't. But acknowledge that these were NOT "mere" men. These were the top Theological scholars of their day. If you want to know just how scrutinized they evaluated texts, and other relevant things, consider that these councils almost left out the book of Revelation! If we have to 'wonder' about Enoch, then we have to 'wonder' about ALL of them. So...Nope! We need to believe that everything is there that God Himself wanted to be there. It's either inspired or its not.

We are sure going trough apocalyptical times, but that means revealing also, so i am wondering myself What would Jesus do? When Jesus was tempted by Satan after he fasted for 40 days he anser specifically to Devil questions, i am sure those answers have deeper meaning for this times as well also

I have a different comment please allow me to present it to you pastor David. I have gone through the bible using your commentaries even before you added audio to genesis. In Genesis you have added so much speculation to an extent that the bible seems to be incomplete. What is the purpose of speculation s ? I enjoy your work in Roman you only give the meaning of word/phrase and a little history, infact to me it your best book I read it almost daily. But in genesis we have tried with my family but we are lost because of too much speculation

I don't study the Apocryphal books but I did reference the Book of Esther because the Torah did not have the prayer that Esther prayed to The Holy One of Israel before she went to her husband. Is there a problem with this?

QUESTION: could you talk next week on "sharing in the suffering of Christ." I find it difficult to digest the idea that anything is lacking in the work of Jesus. Im on a cocktail of morphine and oxycodone and two other controlled pain killers. Im certainly not thinking of suffering without help, but how can this possibly be of value. What does it mean to offer up your sufferings for someones salvation. Thats a catholic teaching. Where does this originate. Thank you.

Eve added a word to the commandment not to eat. She says, "of the tree of the knowledge good and evil, you shall not eat ממנה. This redundancy has God saying "of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil ye shall not eat....of it. Since I didn't get this from any book, i cant prove this, but i was "hearing" with hand, by hand, or (my choice) but the small measure of the hand. My mind junped ahead to "mene mene tekel." Similsr to the search for faith in the land of Sodom, Babylon had been measured and there could not be found even a small measure of faith. We know a single day's food was measured in the smallest basket--a hand basket. Then, (Im pretty sure) in the the LXX account of the first passove I saw this sentence inserted by the LXX rabbis. Im trying very hard to read this with a magnifying glass. Its just not working. The point being that the entire lamb must be eaten. If this sentence is there, it is meant to confirm Eve's misconception that ALL the fruit must be eaten, not just a small measure. Oh, man, I hope I am remembering this correctly.

If you come into Christianity as a blank slate, and you read that mankind is made in the image of God, you are immediately faced with the image of the Father and the Son. It is reasonable to ask, "Where is the mother?" It is not Mary. And it certainly is not the father. Eventually, I realized the triune nature of God Almighty or the most high God--God in his entirety included Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. There is no mother. However, I haven't counted the number of times the Holy Spirit has a descriptive that suggests a place LIKE a mother. Brooding over the sea, we witness the conception of Light. We see that role again in our creed as Jesus, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit. Wisdom is repeatedly likened to a woman. I once asked the question in Bible study class. Every back stiffened. The leader took my Bible and examined it to make sure it wasn't a feminist Bible. I'm definitely not feminist. I am thinking that the Holy Spirit may be of the Father. Together with the Son, they make up a trinity. I can not imagine forbidding the Holy Spirit the ability to step up on the platform. Everything has its place. • There is one teaching in Thomas that makes me think the sayings are from a disciple. She has been elevated to the place of a male. As a "son of God," she would have an ability to better understand the teachings in John. It is not impossible for a female to receive the position and inheritance of a son. She receives through adoption. I don't think I would ask her to pastor, but she might certainly teach. And we need a church council with anyone that possesses the ability.

One does not pay a prophet for his help. The passage of saul supposedly paying the prophet a shekel is mistranslated. Saul's servant was an Edomite. The two had made a circuit through three portions of land and had come to the fourth. The names of these portions have names that translate to one, two, and three. The edomite said, There is in this quarter a seer. In my mind, i se4e these four quarter around a crossroads.The rabbis in the talmud were concered about the impropriety of offering a prophet a mere quarter. In this case, a lexicon like Thayer's(?) will show these translations are correct. I hope you have time to look. Please don't think i have in mind your great body of work.

Sin. God did not intend for Jesus's sacrifice to give a license for sin. God desires that we try to overcome our sins. That is my interpretation. It is the amount we sacrifice to obey God and not sin that is important. But overcoming sin is not the only part of serving God. He also wants us to do good works, help the poor, take care of orphans, and such. Working in a church, volunteering, and giving, is important. I think God understands sin better than we do. He has been dealing with sinful people since He created them. What God desires most is that we serve others, especially God's own people.
