Gino is what is wrong with the modern NHL, so much over correction. He wants weak play and a weak league. The way it wasn handled is correct, as Bryan hayes said, it stops it from happening all the time, but it also means that sometimes its worth it to pay that price.

I'm a Devils fan. I will say that Rempe and players similar to him are good for the game. Of course, the dirty hits and elbows are not good for the game, but the role players like Rempe represent is good. The NHL has been around for over 100 years and the code and fighting has always been a part of it. It can be tweaked to adjust with the times but should never be abolished.

Rempe fighting the other team’s fighter is no problem. That’s two men standing toe to toe going at it. What I have a problem with is the flying elbows to the head. Rempe has done that multiple times and I’ve heard the excuse that he’s so much taller than everyone else he didn’t try to target the head, that’s BS.
@Whippets
@Whippets 7 ай бұрын
Let's just debunk the myth that Rempe should have gotten a 4-game suspension for the hit on Siegenthaler, his first offense by the way; Kulikov did the EXACT same thing (an elbow to the head) a few days later and got a 2-game suspension. The League overreacted to the Rempe hit, or in the alternative they underreacted to the Kulikov hit and many other similar hits in the past.

Judging by Gino's looks, he's watched 70's 80's and 90's hockey too the present. Is the brawl last night at MSG shocking to Gino 🤔 Perhaps Gino should call it a career , go home, lock the doors , close the blinds , and ditch the cell phone . Pull out his old landline corded phone out of the basement cellar . Call up his mommy and get the line brawl matter off his chest .
@isaacsalmi427

Is Gino trying to play Ron MacLean to the panel's Don Cherry? I understand the league doesn't want gong shows of brawling theatrics. In this case, there was a score to be settled and it was settled. As was mentioned, these types of line brawls very rarely happen anymore in the NHL. Four players aside were ejected and that probably saved things from carrying on throughout the game. The code doesn't need to be abolished from the game. It just needs to be used in the correct situations at the correct times.

As a Rangers fan, if we win the cup this season I want Gino to publicly apologize... what I saw were 2 TEAM'S that were THERE FOR ONE ANOTHER. And that sir, is the definition of a great TEAM. On the other hand, I didn't like seeing Miller and Trouba drop gloves to get ejected. We were lucky to escape with a W with 2 of our best defenders out of the game. We have a President's trophy to play for right now. I would have preferred them to stay out of it but I also understand it. Can't back down if Devils are coming for your throat. Having said all of this... I haven't seen this many non hockey fans talk about hockey in a very long time. The line brawl went viral, Pat Mcaffe had a long segment about it on his show today and I even had coworkers that don't watch a lick of hockey also talking about it. So it's definitely doing something. And I only see it as a positive for the NHL in a business aspect. From a purist point of view, I don't care to see fights every single night but they are ingrained into the sport and it is VERY necessary from time to time. Especially if the refs are letting shady ish go on all night in a very violent sport where alot of players that play are trying to pull underhanded tactics alot of the time. It is what it is.

Gino is wrong.... I am old enough to remember when fights were normal .... you know what was NOT normal.. the licking.... the sticks to the head.. the trying to kill players that you see now... WHY.. because there was self policing... if Marchand licked a player in the 1970's he is spitting chicklets .... if Rempe chicken winged a player in the 1980's he would be beaten and out of the game.... fighting IS part of hockey because the truth is the Refs miss a LOT and the NHL does stupid suspensions.. you know what gets it right.... players.. two players taking it into their own hands and making things right... I am a Ranger fan .. but yes Rempe needed to take a beating to prove he is as tough as he wants to be and to be part of the honour that is standing up for your team mate so yes Gino is wrong .. and in the NHL 20 thousand people stand for two things.. goals and fights and that has not changed in 100 years.
