Guess Nojima was also hurt with how Versus 13 & FF15 development turned out, not just Nomura. At least this way the story concept can finally be realized in some fashion.

@@BioRoxasWhile it might have some resemblance, I don't think they will be able to tell the full story. Versus XIII was supposed to be a multi continental game, with different states. This game will have only Shibuya and a magic realm(?)

also something to make note of with Reynatis is that. Yozora has heterocromia of red and blue eyes. the Reynatis title logo has red and blue in it. but the verum rex title logo is more or less that standard metal finish look. probably a reach of speculation. but something smells funny about yozoras appearance, and the powered up eye flares on the characters in Reynatis. btw the red flare and blue flare are both on the same eyes where Yozoras heterochromia is.

There's a Famitsu interview about the game now, and it's very interesting. This is the director's response to being asked about the title: "There are two basic words. First of all, it's "Renatus" in Latin. It has the meaning of being born or reborn. The other word is Spanish and includes the meaning of "king," which means "born king.'' As you play the story, you will understand the meanings of words such as "born" and "reborn." I combined these to create the title "Renatis." This word itself also appears in the play as having an important meaning."

The director also said that the game is "fantasy based on reality". And guess what? That is EXACTLY the tag line of Versus XIII before

@@michaelrobosa146 Yeah. I noticed =P Read the interview. There's tons of other "suspect" statements too, like the director saying the project couldn't have been made without Nojima and Shimomura's go ahead, and Nojima saying there were certain things he "had" to include in the scenario. The most interesting part is also the fact that the game seems to be receiving some massive funding from an unknown third party. Not only is the game apparently "the biggest and most ambitious 3D recreation of Shibuya", it's also full of real life branding which is extremely rare and costly in Japan. This is odd because Furyu is only a AA publisher, and even large publishing houses like SE don't usually spend money on accurately recreating locations like Shibuya(hence why The world end with you etc uses 104, instead of 109 etc).

This is very interesting. I’m really hoping that Verum Rex itself didn’t get acquired by another company. I feel that Verum Rex has so much built up for Kingdom Hearts that it would feel very noticeable and jarring if it gets retconned.

Nice to see other people notice this as well. It's also worth mentioning that Stella had blue eyes too, contrasting Noctis's original red the same way Marin and Sarin does in Reynatis. Anyways, here's a translation of the trailer narration, for better context of the story/premise. Narrator: "In Tokyo, Shibuya- In this world, there are magicians with great power, feared by the people. The magician Kiritsumi Marin comes to Shibuya in search of freedom from an oppressive everyday life. And, protecting Shibuya's peace, the enforcer Nishijima Sari. While being a magician herself, she believes in justice and wields power in its pursuit. When the two of them, so separated by position, meet, the story begins." Marin: "I will only fight for my own sake." Sari: "No matter what anyone says, it's only a matter of doing what is right." Narrator: "Then, a darkness which desires the world to change, descends upon Shibuya." *Note on protagonist's name: Kirizumi Marin, 霧積真凛, The particular kanji here can be read as, "True Dignity, shrouded in fog", "Marin" using the kanji for "truth" and "dignity", and "Kirizumi" using the kanji for "fog" and "gathering" IE, it's symbolically exactly what it sounds like, a dignified figure(perhaps of royalty?) shrouded in fog(mystery).

Crazy how much versus xiii has influenced other works such as verum rex this new game from Kojima and another up incoming games such as lost soul aside,makes me think if we just got the original versus xiii how different our timeline would be and how much of an impact it has from not even being released and to think if it was released how good it would’ve been

something that i think is interesting: in most games with Shibuya, whenever the "109" building is shown, the number is usually changed, as in TWEWY'S 104 and Persona 5 Strikers's 705, due to the brand being copyrighted. however, in Reynatis, the number is 109, although this could just be an early asset to be changed for the final release

My biggest complaint is how it seems like every one of these games and games-to-be always takes place in a fantasized version of the Shibuya Municipality of Tokyo. Can we just get a game that takes place in like, _other wards_ instead of Shibuya? How about Toto? Maybe Nakano (Yes, there are buildings where nerds can gather)? How about Itabashi, which has several famous gardens? Chiyoda could also be a great basework for a fictionalized version of itself. It has the Tokyo National Museum of Modern Art, and the former site of the Edo Castle, which now has a pretty sweet Imperial Palace in its' place, Kitanomaru Park for walking, and also a good place for medical students practicing pharmacology, and is also a great sports venue. I think for once we should get away from this conceit that Shibuya's the only nice tourist trap for visitors, otakus and gamers; there are PLENTY of other famous Cultural spots for visitors to Japan, and plenty of material to be used for these fantasies games. NONE of which has any relation to Shibuya.

104 isn't strictly TWEWY's thing. Shibuya 109 is trademarked, using its likeness with the 109 numbering isn't allowed. So Square Enix uses 104, as the 4 can hold a resemblance to the source material, without violating the trademark. While I do see the similarities, I do not at all think this game is in any way related to KH.

It's probably that they're both working off of vs xiii as a source material but the fact that the protagonist has white hair like yozora instead of looking like noctis is a red flag to me. That is a pretty interesting coincidence that can't be explained by just saying "they're both based off vs xiii"
