Glad I found this channel, I’m in NJ and I found rust in my lawn overseed yesterday. I have never had it before. Thanks for this

@@marcusfabiousmaximus3463 Should be fine. You can spray some propiconazole to ease your mind. Video coming out today has the links in description for it.

Put down my Flagship about a week ago and just put down my Disease ex and have some rain coming in a couple of hours. Lawns looking pretty good right now. Glad I caught this video and some more great info to put down my propiconazole in another 7 days. Just checked the 011- YS. They no longer give you the ph meter or citric acid due to costs. Shocker. Thanks JB. LOL Thanks again for all your help Mr. Ferguson!!!!!

I just found rust fungus starting in my lawn, too. We are actually early in having to deal with this fungus issue, due to the wonderful North Carolina weather!! Got to love it!! Thanks for sharing your experience and passion for having a great looking lawn, brother!! Keep these videos coming!!

Great, informative video! I had the same issue. I finally got my lawn to look great after 6 years. I dialed down the N, mainly so I didn’t have to mow 3x a week. It also has been a wet summer. I saw a bit of rust starting (unfortunately it seemed pop up throughout the whole lawn simultaneously) and used Allen Hanes bullet proof strategy to save it. It’s a bummer to find fungus but you are absolutely right that you need to do something about it or a lot of hard work goes down the drain. Thanks!

The rust in my TTTF seems to vanish as the temps warm up. It's gonna be in the mid-80s where I live which is very warm for this time of year. Great vid!

Love the details; I’m getting ready to do the same in Durham tomorrow. One thing you might want to add as a disclaimer for the folks just getting into lawn care (that I know you’ve mentioned in past videos) is the importance of following a class rotation beyond azoxy/prop for your fungicides because of resistance. I got floored 2 years ago just rotating between azoxy & propiconizole, but faired much better last year with fighting GLS by rotating between azoxy/prop (11/3) and daconil/ohp 6672 (M5/1). Keep up the good work!

You can use a baking soda/water mixture for rust. 1 tsp per liter of water

Great vid. To your point, I live in NJ…if you have a fescue lawn in NJ you are guaranteed to get crushed with disease. Prevention is necessary or your lawn will suffer and money/time will have been wasted.

I appreciate it. That’s my take too. I’ve invested too much time, money, effort and sweat into this work haha. I’m not wanting to risk screwing it up lol.

If I could post a picture of my English Springer Spaniel I could show you how it turns his white legs orange. It was so bad this morning my daughter asked what was wrong with his legs. No rain here in 2-3 weeks in my part of PA. I had it last year and pushed it out with fertilizer which I plan to do before the next expected rain.

Great tip. Wonder why the follow up prop is more effective in liquid form. I’ve applied the granular form of both products together as curative apps in the past and it’s worked well. I might try this method this year

Thanks for the update. So it looks like I will need to get some disease X to complete my treatment. But now I noticed I have rust in my zoysia grass in the backyard. It must have spread from the wind like you mentioned. I have cool Weather grass in the front of my home that was inundated with rust And warm weather grass in my backyard . But we just adopted a puppy from a no kill shelter. I have to read that label for disease x now to make sure that it’s safe for him to walk on. Thank again , god bless .

If in doubt, I would treat the lawn. Some say it will go away, but I've not read that personally, so I would treat the condition. That part is up to you! :)

I would think when they say 'inadequate fertilization', they talking about potassium, since that nutrient helps the health of the grass
@MrFergusonLawn7 ай бұрын
Great point. That may be true as well. Poor K in the lawn could absolutely contribute, I would think. However, last soil test, my K was optimal...so not sure. Didn't think of that! Great input.

@@MrFergusonLawn you treated it already tho, I wonder how it would've gone if you did a spot spray of potassium on a section to see how it would've reacted. Maybe that's something to try in a future vid.

Hey Mr Ferguson, Do you know if Talstar affects the earthworms in the ground? Trying to decide whether to use it in the yard or just around the house.
@MrFergusonLawn7 ай бұрын
I don’t. I would ask Google. It’s one of the safest products out there. I can say, I’ve used it multiple years now, and I still find earthworms in my lawn as before. They seem fine to me.

GCI says you should not use propiconzole when temps are 85 degrees F and higher. Just FYI. And I learned that mistake. It did some serious damage to the lawn.

It sounds like NC state is saying don’t water in the day, but instead, water at night. It states don’t water after sunrise or before sunset, which is another way of saying, while the sun is out. Or, am I misunderstanding something?
@MrFergusonLawn5 ай бұрын
You want to water in the day, for sure! Night water is very risky, which can lead to fungus in the lawn. The best times are after sunrise through 3 hours or so before sunset. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do though.

These are the moments that trouble me 😅... so avoid watering in before sunset or sunrise, though all I've ever heard and read was too avoid watering at the hottest part of the day due to things like quick evaporation..... seems like no matter what you read, there's always information somewhere that will say the opposite....😂
