I lived in Miami for a couple years. Anywhere close to downtown and its like NYC. If you have children its awful unless you're a multi-millionaire. Sarasota is 10x better for raising a family if you're middle class. If you go outskirts of Miami like Pembroke Pines then things are pretty affordable and safe. Sarasota gets you 95% of what you want but without half the headaches of a big city.

Nowhere is the best place to live in FL anymore. 10-15 years ago it was decent. Now? Trash. Overly crowded, rude people, crooked police, crime galore!

Hmm, can't say I have a favorite place in Florida, everything's becoming too dang expensive. Especially when I learned several retirees we knew and longtime residents of Florida, decided to sell their homes. Then became expats and moved to the Philippines or Mexico.

According to the latest FBI crime stats the crime rates in Sarasota, FL. are as folllows: Violent crime is 78% above the national average, Property Crime is 61% above the national average, and the overall crime rate is 64% above the national average. So the answer to your question is no. Case closed. When working on a list for the best cities to live in, always check the crime rates in that city

Can you list the reference, I can't find that on FBI website anywhere.

Crime stats are absolutely worthless chunks of information unless you are dealing with a death. I was the first to trash crime analytics and now others like briggs and a few others are agreeing that the only crime statistics worth considering are homicide rates and overdoses. Every single other crime stat is based on rather the victim reports it and if the police decide to file a report basically your talking about worthless analytics. I go all over usa sarasota is easily in the top 5% of safest places

The whole tampa area is my fave. Sarasota, st. Pete, bradenton, all have ups. Havent been to miami in quite awhile going in november tho so

The traffic in Tampa is horrific. 45 minutes to get 2 miles.

@KeepaGunOnMe c'mon on man. I talk to people from other large cities all the time and they laugh at us complaining about traffic. I travel between St. Pete and Tampa all the time and of course there are traffic issues at times but for me, 90% of the time it's ok.

Somehow, I missed the vote on what city is best. I live in Sarasota the part that is still Manatee County. I was born in Bradenton and hate what this area has become, I want to move to Micanopy FL! 😊

No beaches there! Sounds like a fairytale but those country people suck dearly past the face value
@BellaDharma177 сағат бұрын
@ lol yea, that’s true, but I’ve never been a big beach person and I’m old. It’s much more laid-back there and at my stage that’s appealing.
