I can confirm that where you purchase the laser absolutely makes a difference in the support you get. I could not get any support from the company and they told me I had to go through the reseller for support...which you can imagine was not nearly as proficient.

I work with industrial flatbed lasers that cut up to 1 inch thick aluminum plate. I realize this far removed from the "hobbyist" spectrum, but I am awaiting the day that we have hobbyist level lasers that can cut sheet metal components that can be used in weldments.

For me the controllers are what made me keep my atomstack and get rid of my xtool I have all my regular files on the memory card and just select them on the controller and cut when needed no need to connect to my laptop and go all through lightburn so much easier for me

Nice! I hate the external controllers but that's the most aesthetically pleasing to look at air assist unit I have ever seen. 👌

I wanted to use it for “kiss cut” stickers. Is this machine a good option or you recommend other ones ?

Between this and the xTool D1 Pro, I'd most likely pick this. I don't need the smaller laser, and this comes with the air assist. And if I need the smaller dot, I can buy the 10w laser from the M50 and still be 10% below the total price of the xTool D1 Pro.

You would be wasting your money. Xtool D1 Pro is the best diode system on the market & you get 1 point for every dollar you spend with them, every 50 points is a dollar off in rewards program. They stack up fast because when you work that into the equation a lot of their supplies are cheaper than anyone else too. You get the 40w/10w combo & you are set for all your diode-friendly needs. “you get what you pay for” - xtool has outright sent me entire replacements for things that had issues. They take care of people over there. It can take time to correspond with them, but they take good care of their customers.

I like the atomstack. I have the x20 with extention. And use the xtool ra2 rotary. What i dont like and see that isnt changed The feet risers are just wierd. And the connections on top for usb and power still there. I dont understand that they disnt changes those things with the x30

I find myself wondering if there are any diode lasers that integrate any sort of air control. I'm not that familiar with lasers - I have had an Ortur LM3 for some months now and become pretty comfortable with it. I use Lightburn and see that little switch in the layers tab for "Air". Not sure if that's a thing that is ever used with the cheaper lasers. Or, honestly, even the larger ones. I've never used a CO2 laser. I've found I get much better engraving results (or at least have to sand a lot less) if I don't use air for my engraving, or I use really minimal air. Really dig the channel and reviews. Thanks 🙂

Sculpfun has that integrated so you can turn it on and off between layers. There is a jumper on the mother boards that Lightburn works with and you can set up your own switched air that way too.

Atomstack now also have an upgraded controller that you can use with LightBurn to control the air assist (on/off). I agree that handpad is useless. One thing I never see mentioned is diode laser life. My x20 has reduced in power by about a third (according to my cut tests) with only 10s of hours on it. It's not a dirty lens/lens protector or S30 setting issue. They have agreed for me to send it back (after copious amounts of poor and repetitive formulaic email support). On the whole I'm not impressed with the build quality. The focus adjustment is sloppy (the addon z-height adjuster requires moving the M2.5 tapped holes for a limit switch), my x-axis eccentric nut was over tightened at the factory which damaged the v-wheels and I had to replace them. The cable management is poor. My next laser is going to be the Roly 20 or 40W. The Roly10W build quality is amazing and their tech support is first class.

About 5 months ago the Atomstack 30W model price was $1200 and as of today November 23 I can buy this same 30 W model is less than $500. Is that anything wrong with these machines? Just curious. Make or Break, I want your honest opinion.

Where are you finding them for that price? Amazon and both Atomstack sites have it around $800. Even banggood is $800 right now. I'm sure the price dropped when the x40 released as well as it being holiday shopping season. But if there's a reputable source for under$500, I'd love to know about them as I'm looking to buy one as well.

@@Demolishionist I just received from Walmart. Paid $494 and it's on holiday sale. Do not buy it from (Techonline) seller because they do not respond your calls. I had a very bad experience with them and I returned their product. Happy Holidays.

I know in a year or so they'll be twice the capability for half the price ... If anybody has bought one now, and want to cut some parts for me, for fun and (maybe) profit, let me know! 1/8" plywood or whatever you have...

It's not worth it. A business won't buy this kind of maschine, a hobbyst would do much better in buying a cheap maschine, enlarge it and get an after market laser module for that. That thing is not even made of standard profiles so you can't enlarge the frame. Also this is a poor job of a review: no test of cut, no test of precision. Does it cut acrylic? How thick the wood in one pass? It comes with air assist and air compressor: pressure, air flow, misdirections?
