Is Scavenger underrated? If we look at the numbers and its best case scenarios, then the answer is unequivocally yes. However there are a lot of factors that make Scavenger far less appealing than some other much simpler perks. In this video I tried to figure out exactly how much Scavenger helps and tried to squeeze as much value from it as possible.

A little tip when running scavenger is to also run it with stake out if you have it. Not only does it grant free great skill checks for doing something so little, stake out will help out with other actions meaning you will be a jack of all trades.

I personally wouldn't suggest using it unless you're bad at skillchecks. On low ping around 20-30 you can hit them without trying very hard. On consoles and steam you'll have a harder time bc the ping tends to be a little higher for some reason but if you don't have that issue than you don't need it. Btw it's one of my favorite perks to use. I just wouldn't suggest another perk for great skill checks if you can bring something to help yourself if you get caught out. Great idea if you don't mind having a full build around one thing though.

yes plot twist is so good. it can heal without sound, ignore healing debuff like coulrophobia or even sloppy, also it counter nurses calling. You can use it when you have broken status effect, and then pop the plot twist when the broken status effect go away. when the killer play slugging, you can just loop the killer for a little bit then when killer want to hit you, just use plot twist. so the killer will forced to pick you up. You can use it when you have deep wound, so its basically skip the mending. i love this perk so much, a lot of potential with just 1 perk.

It's a really underrated hair style that I wish would come back into fashion. 5:42 As a Sesame Street kid I am inordinately upset that the cadence is off when counting to twelve. As for my thoughts i really think toolboxes need to be reworked. Gen times need to be more normalized across the board so Killer players have a better idea on just how long a single gen takes to do. There needs to be _some_ variance to things though some means but it shouldn't be as wide of a gap as it is. Thanks for the video.

Hey otz as soon as scavenger released I came up with the build of combining all three of the perks u chose with btl, scavenger, and streetwise. On top of it I combined it with prove thyself and every gen that I did was cut in half the time or less. It is a extremely powerful build wen combined with a green box with wire spool and socket swivels. The main way to run this build in my mind is to use all charges, hop into a locker, finish the gen, activate scavenger, repair without using ur box to save charges until the 30 secs are done and continue and repeat

One cool trick that you can use is to have potential energy with it, during the 30 sec slow repair duration, use potential energy so that the time wasted on doing gen during the slow repair is gone sinse potential energy does not make the gen progress by time only by tokens that you accomulated.

I would say build to last is better you have ~X2.8 toolbox for the whole game without downside just going on the locker to recharge it Ps and it can be anything.
@JcrafterGames
@JcrafterGames 6 ай бұрын
The downside on scavenger is comparable to the sitting in a locker of built to last, both losing you time. The reward then makes up for it by saving time, or completing generators quicker, with a smaller chance of being interrupted. The main difference is probably the higher potential time saved of scavenger, compared to built to last being more consistent. Like Autodidact compared to Botany Knowledge.
@sf8262

if you have a reason to be in a locker anyways, like inner strength, head on, or just confusing the killer it makes sense. otherwise, that locker recharge wastes a lot of time. also BTL can be used for any item so theres that

You know correct me if I'm wrong but if you have the perk slowdown couldn't you use potential energy because the perk is based on time you do the Gen rather than percentage of the Gen done to conteract the downsize of scavenger?

When using Hyperfocus it's still worth it to do the gen while the slowdown is happening. The toolbox charges deplete slower, meaning you get the increased skillcheck chance for longer and more value from Hyperfocus.

Yeah, I had a similar build to that second one: scavenger, stake out, hyperfocus, and deja vu. but it was less effective for me, because i'm not that good at hitting skill checks, so it's just better for me to run built to last and streetwise, and that even frees up 2 perk slots for inner healing/strength for some time efficiency in the locker, and an extra perk. deja vu is the obvious one, but I also like lucky star from ellen since it shows me the nearest gen and all the other survivors

i feel like its very unfortunate because on paper this perks seems alright but i think the factor that makes scavenger and other perks like hyperfocus no so popular even though theyre great on paper is the reliance on skill checks, and with skill checks being completely random with no way to guarantee one triggers perks like those will always take a back seat to other perks that are way more consistent and less complicated

I've been running scavenger, hyperfocus, deja vu and sprint burst for quite some time now. Makes it easy to control games, gens become an added mini-game and it's extremely rewarding when you hit a lot of skillchecks after eachother every once in a while. Sprint burst tops the whole build off by making you be able to sit at the gen longer, avoid hits by the skin of your teeth and because it''s such a good perk on it's own it makes you able to be versatile in your approach. Recommend it if you are up for the initial headache of trying to get the first 3 skillchecks of hyperfocus somewhat consistent!

My build to optimize this perk (I came up with this like 2 weeks ago): Scavanger, Stakeout, Fast Track, This Is Not Happening. I also use an engineers toolbox with wirespool or socket swivels depending on what I want, but I always add the instructions addon to kill skillchecks. I start the game off by immediately using the toolbox because I have infinite refills anyway. This is so that I don't use up whatever skillchecks I earned on an already full toolbox, and I can start to renew my toolbox the minute it goes empty. The stakeout skillchecks also help counter some of the 50% slowdown speed (gen progress is better than gen speed imo). If I'm feeling snazzy I might replace TINH for Hyperfocus. It's great using it this way because you're not wasting the toolbox on the debuff itself. You can use the toolbox after the end of the debuff! (Just finished watching the video, great minds think alike!)

Built to Last: In classic BHVR Spaghetti code, for some reason, If you proc scavenger BEFORE using all your refills on Built to Last, scavenger will not fully refill the charges on the toolbox, but rather follow BtL's diminishing replenishing logic. 2. Potential Energy: I learned that the time it takes to fully charge Potential energy, is the same amount of time as Scavenger's Debuff, so, in theory, if you have 4 tokens for scav, and get a skillcheck after 15 seconds of uninterrupted progress and hit the great, should you activate potential energy, you completely negate the downside of scav.

I think Scene Partner is the most underrated Cage perk. I don't see anybody talk about the perk or use it. I use it with Object of Obsession and pray I don't get a stealth killer.

I don't play survivor much but when I do play survivor I usually use deja vu because it helps me counter a tight 3 gen especially when I'm playing solo que with some of the strongest killers being solo que teammates but I honestly feel like deja vu paired with prove thyself and a toolbox might be a somewhat better combo because me and some friends tested it out even after the nerf Prove got. I feel like for when it comes to playing solo que then deja vu and a toolbox is your best bet if your teammates have no brain cells

Why not use inner strength so when the debuff happens you just go look for a totem break it then go back to your gen.

Hyperfocus also increases chances of skillchekcs so I guess those two by themselves combo real good, especially if you replenish the toolbox, and have 6 stacks of Hyperfocus, skillchecks are percentages, meaning the debuff doesn't apply to them.

I still do kinda blame the streamers and otz for saying this perk was too op when made for this was literally 10x worse, if they made it to 5 skill checks wthout the 30sec nerf it wouldve been fine

Off topic a bit, but Hyperfocus should be changed to increase the frequency of skill checks base on kit then grant 1/2/3/4/5% per great skill check to a max at like 5 stacks. It still increases further frequency as you gain stacks by a certain amount like it does now, but reduce the speed of the spin or remove it entirely. Haven’t decided on that part yet. Edit: nevermind stake out existing, make it 1/1.5/2/2.5/3% at max

I would say that with the hyperfocus, the spin speed is soft balance measure preventing mass usage and massive genrushes it is capable of when used on mass. That way it server purpose of training great skillchecks and rewards already good players for... well, being good. If the perk increased amount of skillchecks on top of that, the progress you get from hitting them would have to be looked at.

I'm surprised built to last can save 9 seconds. I thought it's strength was mostly being able to prepare for a burst of generator progress from the safety of a locker. I assumed if you were able to work on the generator uninterrupted it would actually lose you time.
