Okayyyyyy, if you own a drill, drill holes in your 3 gallon plastic pot. I usually make about 100 holes all over the pot. Use weed guard to line the inside of the plastic pot ** Make sure it sits about one inch off the bottom of the pot. Secure the weed guard with zip ties around the top of the pot. You have now created a system BETTER than the air-pot or fabric pot. The weed guard protects against overwatering because your plant is basically being held together by the weed guard, NOT the sides of the container. Water does not get logged, EVER, even after flushing BTW... The holes cause airpruning..... ** Weed guard is a plastic that is used by landscapers to prevent the weeds from growing out of the flower bed. It comes in a roll and lasts for your entire grow and transfers to larger pots from the 1 gallon to the 3 gallon pot. Side NOTE: if you use this system...you dont have to transfer to the 3 gallon pot, with holes and weed guard you can go the ENTIRE grow in a 1 gallon pot.... the roots NEVER get bound. They look more like a dirty mop head rather than a root bound plant does when it out-grows the 1 gallon.

"Squat" pots or totes are very good to grow in. Plus, if you have a cover crop or not makes a difference in container size because of "shading".

I don't use root riots plug, they tend to get hard and not allow roots to grow easily through them. I have had bad experience with them stunting or slow growth. I started using Rockwool....no issues.

I always use 5 gallon pots and I use a hygrometer to check the moisture content in the soil so I dont over water. 5 gallon pots work out good for me. I also do the half and half soil. Bottom with ocean forest and top half with Happy Frog. I have a count system for watering babies..works out really good..!

Anything over 3 gallons is overkill in coco coir. With frequent fertigation smaller pots work better imo. Less water use and theyll get just as big as in a 5gal pot if you keep up with feedings. 5 gal for soil i can definitely agree on. Great informational video.

you could even grow autos in a 3gal pot if you want to save some money. after growing them for 6 years I found out the root ball never over grew a 3 Gal.

@@dinero3255 If the tent is over eighty inches, wait until they are close to 3 feet tall. This would require about two to three month of veg. Make sure you top them at the 6 node. Get a ppm meter and pH meter BEFORE you start flower.

@@dinero3255 It's time to flower them man. The size of your tent is going to require you to use trellis netting to keep the ladies under control. I think you may have neglected to consider the height of your tent. If your tent is the normal height, you only have 74 inches to play with using an LED light and less if using a hps/ml lighting system. I am going to suggest you purchase 1 product for you arsenal....Recharge (this is me trying to protect your ladies without any high risk). Recharge helps your root zone and helps balance your soil. If you are running salt based fertilizers, this is unlock any lock outs because of USING TOO MUCH NUTRIENTS.

fabric pots i will ramp up the soil along the edge 1/2 inch or so burm of soil gives me a 1/2 inch deep bowl basically on a 10 gallon i can drop 1 full gallon of water on it flood it and let it drain down over the entire mass of soil it works great ,i use living soil so 15 gallon is my normal size it makes for less top dressing required

I switched from one plant in a 3x3.5 in 12 gallon pot to 5 plants in 3 gallon fabric pots. It works great for air movement and I had to flush the hot soil once and I would rather flush a 3 gallon than a 5 gallon pot of sponge like soil.

I'm new to growing, just started flower cycle this week. Doing coco perlite mix (tupar). Coco mix seems so much easier as its virtually impossible to overwater. Have to mix feed water all the time sure but I started out using high water fertigation regiment where you water couple times a day to 10% runoff, had explosive growth through veg. As i hit flower I was having to use to much water (3 gallon fabrics) so I scaled it back to once a day. Have not had any signs of overwatering even with this crazy watering scedule. Gonna grow same seeds next round and try a more easy going coco grow where I water every 2 days and see if I notice any big difference.

Only growing two plants manifolded out to 8 colas each plant. the high-water fertigation was getting too much at $0.80 a gallon. Dr Bugbee....you need to hear him talk. He is from University of Utah and grows. You may end up changing how you end with your ladies. He had a differing opinion on how to finish and it will make you think..... I'll give you this: Chlorophyll's half life is 2 hours.......Once the plant is cut and is hanging, no more chlorophyll is being made.....24 hour light blast the last day.... Yeah, I know, i sound crazy......

You got to drill holes in the plastic pots and only takes a couple of minutes. They get plenty of air plus you could stick your finger in there and if the dirt is stuck to your finger it's still wet

Y E S...if you want to go extra step. line with weed guard and secure with zip ties. make sure the bottom of the weed guard does not touch the bottom of the container. The medium sits inside the weed guard, not the sides of the container. This prevents ANY form of overwatering as water cannot sit in weed guard as it can a container with no holes.
