Mel: “That man doesn’t even like you sis!” Bars!!! I was screaming the same thing. He is an awful waste of space on earth with that behavior towards someone he’s supposed to love and care for!

What is mom spending on that with an additional $750 she can’t make it work in Colombia??

I do think a child has a duty to take care of their parents when they get older, to a certain extent. However that extent is based on how well your parents took care of you. My parents loved, cared for, and appreciated me as a person and their daughter. It will be a privilege to take care of them when they need me, and I will to the best of my ability. This mother clearly has not done that if op feels this towards their mother. 2) That woman has probably done that before and gotten her way. She eyed op bc she thought she could intimidate her way into getting her way again. Also F those people who were eyeing OP are little pisses. Give ur seat up then if you think she deserves an upgrade, pathetic.

Hard disagree. I don’t think parents should expect their children to care for them in their old age. They are the “grown ups” and should have made better choices and saved for retirement throughout their lives. Why put a financial burden on your children at all?
@sdran2316 күн бұрын
Whether or not the mother was the best mother in the world to her kids, she is not entitled to anyone’s hard earned money. As a parent, it’s your responsibility to take care of your kids to the best of your ability. Your kid didn’t ask to be created. You made them and are responsible for them. If your adult kids are working hard to earn their own money and want to use it to live their one life, don’t guilt them into splitting their paycheck with you.

2nd story, the lady with the baby is hella entitled and has ZERO shame asking for a seat that she opted not to pay for. Hope OP enjoyed her trip regardless. I'm so confused as to where these lot get their entitlement.

Another great episode and let me just say, I love love love all of your dynamics for different reasons. The “bonus” non-cardigan wearing, no Stanley cup having twin sitting by her lonesome reminds me so much of my best friend 😅 ugh I love you all. You guys keep thriving this 2025 and beyond ❤❤❤❤

I think it’s great to take care of your parents as they get older but I don’t think parents should expect it. You have kids to take care of them, not for them to take care of you.

I'm probably going to comment on each story But this is on the first one if the mom is getting help. from both of her daughters that should be more than enough. Mom is just being greedy. Now dealing with the second story as a mother I wouldn't dare ask somebody to give up their first class seat for my child and I i should have paid for it if I wanted it
@OPSaidPodcast17 күн бұрын
Right?! Entitled and greedy with a side of attitude…

I love Mel but she always answers the questions that aren’t asked. In a perfect world, she would be absolutely right in her advice but it isn’t. Marie very much sees the reality of the situation and answers accordingly. The OPs in the story can’t control others and how others should behave but Mel’s response is geared towards that. In the first story, her answer is the mom should downsize and live within her means but that isn’t within OPs control. Marie’s response is right on. The mom should but in all reality she won’t, so OP has to make decisions based on that reality and how she wants to live her life going forward knowing the other family will still continue to support the mom’s entitlement.

Mel doesn’t always do this… but it’s happened on occasion 😂 we agree with you, Mel just sometime remains hopeful that a conversation might bring about positive change. 😊

I hear you and maybe I confuse the twins because I’m just getting to learn you all. I hesitated before commenting this as I didn’t want you all to take it the wrong way. I have had this similar thought on other stories and admittedly I could be confusing the two. I had planned to re-listen to learn each of you better. Will comment on those. Definitely not knocking you all. I love your takes!

We didn’t take your comment negatively. You got the right twin sis! 😂 (Me, May manages our KZbin account). Don’t worry, you’ll get to know our differences after some time… ❤️❤️

On my flight from Johannesburg to London yesterday we had a passenger upgrade herself to premium economy. We didn’t spot her as we were eating in the galley as service was done and she moved after. Manager spotted her and she said “oh one of the crew said I could” which could’ve gotten us in big trouble. We marched her back to her seat. She then moved after I served her the breakfast before landing and told the new crew “you skipped me” so got 2 meals. I said nothing to her but spoke loudly enough about dishonesty and disrespect. She heard and bowed her head for the rest of the flight. The entitlement is real. We’ve also had people from economy self upgrade to business or even first. No chance love! This story would’ve been American and it would’ve been on a smaller plane where first class is just the few rows at the front with the middle seat blocked out. However that would still include a meal service and drinks etc whereas economy wouldn’t. The nerrrrrve

On the first story I understand black tax too well seeing that I come from Africa and being a first born daughter I have to take care of my sickly parents. The daughter has to sit the mum down .

Truthfully I was drawn to this podcast bc I value the opinions of other black women but even tho we’re similar we are so culturally different! I love it! I don’t always agree but it makes your take interesting. I say all that to say - black Americans don’t have a black tax. It’s the wild, Wild West over here. They kick you out at 18-22ish, most don’t /cant contribute to higher education & in turn, the children don’t take care of their parents.

Thank you so much for watching and your support. We don’t always agree with each other too. 😅 We’re Black British - African. We were culturally raised African so we understand black tax more than most…
