Definitely think Siargao is on that trajectory but in a more conscious manner, maintaining the green space and nature instead of rapid over development. The vibe in Siargao is exactly the same cool vibe as it was in Canggu was 10 years ago before it got crowded and the rice fields got concreted over. The growth trajectory was crazy fast in Canggu, 10 years ago there would be about 6 of us foreigners sitting at Old Man's bar in the evening, now there's hundreds / thousands every night !

Travel articles says Bali is now overtourism not unlike Boracay that undergoes 7 months rehabilitations and closures to foreign tourists in 2019. Siargao is jyst beginning to bloom while Coron and El nido are had undergone with partial rehabilitations during the closures of Boracay.

Other places in Indonesia other than Bali is already done that start from the beginning, they intentionally kept low key. Mentawai with it's surfing tax, Raja ampat with it's no catch zone and marine rangers. Belitung island with it's unesco geopark program. Bali is Bali, Balinese will fix the problems with their own way, and they certainly will do. We don't the reference from others especially not from Philippines.

The next Bali is the one and only Mentawai Islands. Unique indigenous local culture, plenty of great waves (Lance's right, No Kandui, Bank Vaults, Greenbush, Rifles,Telescopes, Macaronis, Rag's right-left etc), Kilometres of empty-coconut fringed white sand beaches, one of favorite top surfers playground.

​@@alexandlaurastoriesBeen to mentawais once. Based in Sumatera, relatively near to Krui,another surfing area in southern sumatera region. Mentawaians are the true humble and polite people, they not even realized how good their place is. If Bali has Bombie, Racetrack, Impossibles and Padang-padang, pretty sure those spots i mentioned worthy the comparison with Bali's famous waves. Not so much for siargao, sorry, just facts.

Please let siargao be the same, simple. dont make it like bali, too much tourist meaning too much garbage, becoming commercialized makes every thing expensive and soon local cant aford to live in the island. Dont make it like some tourist places in spain.. stay in bali people. Siargao is only for travelers who wants to experience nature through thier eyes not through the lens. Thank you.
