It looks pretty useful at first, but when trying it out, there are a few glaring problems with it. One of it is that you cant copy and paste cells. You are unable to highlight multiple cells in smartsuite which means you can delete multiple cells as well. This makes it a no go. Another one is that ctrl+z doesnt work in smartsuite. How do i undo an action then? Seems like they thought of more advanced features, but its basic features are severely lacking.

@@lycian87 I love SmartSuite's features but it only allows 5 solutions on the free plan. As a freelancer, I'm pretty happy with Notion for record keeping and Clickup for action items

Thanks for the intro. I'm a huge Airtable lover, but have been dying for them to include more basic collaboration features, especially docs and external guest editors. Layla, firstly thank you so much for bring this useful information to the masses, I started using Clickup based on your initial videos but havent as yet used it to its full capability and now Im thinking Smartsuite looks like a viable option, and thats the issue new offerings are always coming out and they offer things that are really useful and easier than the previous offering. How dare it, indeed!! 😂 That is the challenge with this space, truly. For what it's worth, effective management is WAY more reliant on your processes than the software you use. Whether you use ClickUp or SmartSuite solid workflows should be able to get you cookin' regardless...though one might be a bit of a better fit than the other depending on your needs.

@@LaylaPomper Agreed, process driven workflows are much more effective, having worked in operations for the majority of my career and then running an IT company it was very much a process of ensuring we had standard operating procedures in place and to keep refining and adapting those processes to meet the requirements of the company. It world wide proven, Ive worked in Germany, Japan, USA and the UK and noticed that the vast majority of good companies have good process. Greetings from the Scottish Highlands btw

Part 2, please! - I do love ClickUp (now, but it took a bit!), but I'm curious about SmartSuite's user-friendly-ness as a business that puts clients into ClickUp with me as guests because that learning curve is understandably steep for them. Sidenote: knowing CU 3.0 is coming soonish, I'd be really curious to see how SmartSuite may stack up to the changes coming to ClickUp! 😄 Can't wait to see your videos on 3.0 when that's finally available too!

You may already have a video about this, but what would be the best way to transfer data (including attachments) from clickup to smartsuite? My biggest hurdle with clickup is user adoption. I think that people get confused by views sometimes just being different views of underlying tasks and other times they are documents or whiteboards or something completely different. Also, people get confused by the fact that tasks can be really anything, including notes. I'm definitely open to trying smartsuite

Hey Joseph! I were in your shoes, my action step would be to contact SmartSuite directly via their chatbot that appears in the corner when you log in. They're actually offering some insane amount of hands-on onboarding help for new users (that's totally free). I don't know for sure, but I imagine they could help you get your data swapped over. Alternatively, you could also use CSV export from ClickUp and CSV import from SmartSuite. :)

I use clickup although admittedly not as well as I could and I do love it. However my audience will not cope with clickup, they are definitely the group you describe in the video as not tech savvy or struggle to learn new tools, in fact most of them are die hard paper based people. I'm thinking Smart suite looks promising. Also as health professionals the permissions focus is very attractive. I'll be playing around with it more in a dummy environment my audience would typically use it for and see how it goes. Definitely keeping a close eye on this playlist to learn from you :)

So with the SmartDoc Feature and SmartDoc field, it would be fascinating and possibly game-changing to see how we could implement a similar process in SmartSuite.

Hey Tacius! I think SmartSuite and ClickUp are focusing on different avatars. SmartSuite's main advantages are currently: ease of use, stability, ability to manage data vs. just tasks, and permissions/control. Meanwhile, ClickUp is better for flexibility, the generosity of their free plan, task management features, and a variety of innovative features like Whiteboard and Clip that aren't common in competitors. :) Both are great options, it really comes down to what you need most! Regarding your last comment in the video 19:14 …. I think you should do more big picture videos especially about SmartSuite… I have a good feeling about this product. I think I’m giving up on clickup it’s just too clunky. The fact that you can actually do something with the roll ups, more than just have them displayed in another table.

1. Would Smartsuite be a reasonable software to compliment with Clickup? Or would they be too similar? I am thinking of using it to content creation and research. 2. When you need a doc-feature wit organising for the business, as for example course implementation and so on - would you reccommend one of these tools as a good enough alternative? Or would you recommend Evernote/Notion as a compliment?

1. Yes! In that capacity, it can be a database complement. They have a several key overlaps of features (like My Work/task management) but I think for something as complicated as content creation there's an argument for splitting it up. 2. I personally think these tools can do a good enough job with Docs! However, if you need to write a novel or do really intensive research, I'd probably venture into Evernote, Notion, or even Obsidian. However, for normal note-taking and casual writing, I think this can fit the bill!

Currently, I use both! I prefer SmartSuite for anything that’s data-intensive or a process “pipeline”. But, for unpredictable projects and general tasks, I prefer ClickUp.

@@LaylaPomper Ok thanks for your quick response. I enjoy your videos, am an Accountant so I like ClickUp because a lot of what I do is recurring Tax deadlines and Accounts. I don’t necessarily need the 3.0 version ( whenever that arrives), as I like the dashboards feature and the product. But they really pissed a lot of people off with that LevelUp happy smiley gunk, basically a pack of lies with a smile on it. They treated the Customers like idiots. So was very interested when I saw you promoting SmartSuite. May have a look.

It doesn't seem out of line with comparable company's terms, however, I'm definitely not an expert in that arena! Having worked with the SmartSuite team, I trust they're operating in good faith. However, I think your concern is valid. You should definitely get in touch with their team as I imagine they can provide much more clarity! I'd love to hear what you learn.
