A lot of players think Smite is dying because it isn't one of the big hitters in the MOBA scene like League and Dota 2. No MOBA player respects Smite as a MOBA outside of Smite players. Hope that changes for Smite 2, because I, for one, love this game. I believe it can be an extremely competitive game if Hi-Rez are willing to make it so.

I have/had more Casual ELO than mast and weak3n and all you get put against are very low players. Both of them mostly did casuals and now switch to ranked. Games declined hard

I made it to diamond recently , but have fell right into gold. Losing around 10 games in a row. 6/10 are incompetent players. 2/10 trolls and 2/10 are legit games

I decided to try out smite 1 this year, since I enjoy mobas and 3rd person hotkey pvp. With smite 2 in the pipeline, I thought why not try it out. Learning the game in arena and joust was a blast, but I almost uninstalled the game when I tried conquest around lvl 20. The new account conquest games were horrendous quality, with longer queues, and more restrictive lane choices due to having to declare role in queue. 80% of games were stomps one way or another due to afks, bots(?), and smurfs. Multiple games the duo lane was a solo lane due to one of the assigned people not going there or leaving the game. Still playing the game a bit by just playing joust for now, but if I almost quit the game I would imagine a more casual / less interested person trying it out would've just uninstalled right then and there. For a game that is supposed to be more casual oriented, there is a huge "quit moment" in the current state of new account conquest games. I don't like level gating things, but maybe some level gating of the conquest queue is necessary, idk. Not an easy issue to solve.

This is something LowRez has ignored for years; the matchmaking and general "fairness" of matches has been so bad that most serious gamers just gave up unless they really really like Smite, and the average new player WTF-nope's out instantly. Any LowRez communication I've seen on the issue is all cocky going on about how matchmaking is fine, 5mans VS solos isn't a significant advantage, etc. They always blame the low playerbase, but when COVID hit and player numbers skyrocketed, the issue actually got WORSE, so that excuse failed too. The low playerbase is BECAUSE of LowRez, not the other way around. The game itself as a concept is amazing, but the devs do their best to shoot themselves in the foot over and over. I mean, they literally spent a couple years in "maintenence mode" putting almost nothing into the game itself other than cranking out dozens and dozens of skins at a ridiculous price point. If even a small fraction of that profit went back into the game, it would be the top MOBA on the market. But it isn't their priority. Not even to talk about what will happen if they decide it's not profitable enough, this company is known to abandon projects and their fans. Smite 2 could finally be them trying to fix these issues, but it may be too late as a lot of serious gamers already dislike Smite, and is probably just a financial move and will put 95% of their resources into "how best to monetize cosmetics" rather than a solid core. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I've followed this company for too many years to be blindly naive.

Conquest is extremely difficult to learn and this is probably my biggest gripe with the game. It’s absolutely absurd that they make 0 effort to streamline the process of learning THE MAIN GAME MODE THAT THE WHOLE GAME IS BALANCED AROUND, so newbies just have to flounder for months getting flamed by every teammate until they sorta feel like they know what’s going on. They have got to get this figured out in Smite 2 or it’s going to be a really big problem.

@arthurbrown-fd4pi I mean balance is an ongoing issue for any game/dev. It's when they waste literal years cranking out cosmetics without fixing many obvious issues in that same time. It's a greed move, and sadly it's not their first rodeo. We went quite a long time (many months) with no real patches in Smite beyond tiny changes and a bunch of 20$+ skins. Now they say they don't have the resources to import even T5 skins (many cost about a hundred dollars, for a fucking skin) into Smite 2, yet are continuing to crank out even more paid cosmetics for characters that have 10 skins. It's just greed and it's sad because the game could be one of the top on the charts with even basic upkeep.

As someone who has played smite since beta on console. After the integration of PC players into rank, I have slowly stopped playing the game and now do not even care. I average high platinum and The pc community is just extremely toxic and annoying asf to console players, along with playing certain positions such as carry that no one ones to role as in ranked is annoying also. Plus ranked only being 2 party instead of 3 and still no 5v5 party ranked is insane. I have such a hard time getting reliable teammates to constantly win ranked games. Lastly I haven’t been enjoying the way the items and playstyle has changed. Not here to argue just my two cents. Have a good day.

I've been checking other data in smite, which is the number of players in EU with ranks and/or god frames in ranked. It tells me that over the years EU ranked player base is much lower because i can barely see EU flags among the US flags. What do you think people? And I don't know about you inter but when i queue ranked conquest in high diamond i get the same people in most games over and over again.. to the point i can sometimes tell if the game is won or lost once i see the nicknames. Add smurfs, trolls and many games with masters being matched in teams with golds and worse... That does not look good and there is clear difference between EU and US servers.

Smite makes enough money and has a passionate fanbase to sustain itself. It will never be as popular as league of legends or Dota 2 or even mobile legends and it doesn't need to be that popular. This same conversation will happen for smite 2 when we're at the same position.

Just from the start of this video the logic kind of gets weird "we can see at the beginning of the year like usual we get a bump in numbers ALONGSIDE THE SMITE 2 announcement" That right there is already a bad start. The numbers were actually LESS at the beginning of the year despite eyes on the game from asmongolds video practically defending it. Every single number this year is less than last year despite the announcement of the new game and quite a decent amount of publicity (compared to normal) because of the S2 release. Then the viewship bit a "slight" downtrend, except again a huge amount of publicity was just given to the game and the announcement of a new game despite that we still see a downtrend. Also the whole Covid shutdown argument I get but at the same time the years you are referring to pre pandemic were some of the WORST years of smite the game was boring with terribly stale metas, i can't find the data anywhere but i'd be willing to bet that the smite charts for 2014-2016 were better because not only was the map better but the metas were more fun even with hastened broke the meta at least it was goofy and enjoyable unlike things like the invade meta. Most who care about competitive also are under the assumption (like myself) that pro league will be making a return based on how hi rez and pros have spoke about it. Also you seem to not place much value on those people most pro games had somewhere between 1 to 3k viewers and even more for regionals and stuff like that, now if we assume like 75 percent of those viewers are PC gamers that would be around 20 to 30 percent of the steam charts you are seeing. Losing those people due to a lack of a pro league would put a serious dent smites "livelihood" I love smite to the point where i even bought the s2 founders pack and the alpha for a alpha was nice. But idk i think they not only announced it way too early but i think killing pro league was a mistake. I agree with your summation that it's "stagnant" but considering the supposedly axed SPL this year due to funding concerns that stagnation seems to be stating to effect them.

@@twelvevoltage this is a incredibly old discussion but its gone because of smite2 and they are going to let smite2 organically get a pro scene instead of just awarding the old guard like pbm, barraccudda, zapman, twig salary jobs and actually let new players who come to smite 2 and become good at it have chances other than trying to schmooze a spot in the "friends league". Its why Elleon never made it because everyone doesn't like him not because hes not good enough he was better than at least 1/5th pf the players in year 10 and thats being kinda generous I also don't like at all incase that seemed like chapo dicksuck.

No, it's not possible to transfers the skins. You will get all the gems you spent on Smite 1 in the form of legacy gems. Legacy gems will allow you to buy any remade skin from 1 to 2. While allow you to get 50% off on any new skin or the battle pass for Smite 2.

Not really, most of what you are going to get is legacy gems which are gems you can use to get 50% off on any purchase and you get as many as you have spent in smite 1.

The main two reasons to play Smite (apart from pure enjoyment of the game) have been removed by the announcement of Smite 2. Most gods will not be available on launch, and a lot of god's kits will be fundamentally changed by the transition as well, so practicing isn't worth it. The only other main reason, grinding cosmetics, is also worthless because almost none of them will transfer. I highly doubt Viewer Points will, either, so it also defeats the purpose of the Drops campaigns on Twitch. Was Smite 2 a good move overall? Yeah, sure. But by having those three major changes happen simultaneously on launch they kinda shot themselves in the foot with Smite 1 player numbers.

Idk all cosmetics this year with few exceptions are carrying over to smite 2 and while there are changes to kits a lot of gods are the same as they were in smite 2. It's definitely still worth playing smite 1.

I agree its stagnate not dying. Honestly that is a decent place to be because that means you have a consistent player base, which also means you have a decent game in order to keep that. I do think there will be a down trend since it feels like there isn't support for year 11 like in past years. I do get that they are shifting to another game but that doesn't mean you neglect the current one especially when the other one isn't going to be out for some time. I do hope that they do keep things 'business as usual' such as new gods until Smite 2 is released. I don't think we will be getting huge changes like seasonal map changes, new conquest mechanics, or new items but adding whatever that has been designed should happen. I expect at least 4 more gods this year at the minimum.

Overall I think the game is in a good state for the limbo period it is in. I have enjoyed your transition of content, to be more news and community focused Inter, keep up the good work! I feel like that part of the issue why incon has gone down; as someone who used to watch a decent bit of his content, it very obvious, to me at least, that he is not happy with making smite content and it made me unsub because of it. I know personally, I just don't have the time that used to during the pandemic for smite, so I do other things or have been playing other games, so that the game can feel fresh to me. I am excited for smite 2 and hope it can be a healthy community.

Whether or not its dying, i uninstalled. The game is fun minus gods like nox amd athena. But my god the playerbase is horrible. Both at the game and in their toxicity. I was really tired of it so i said fuck it and uninstalled. Best decision ive made. Multiplayer games are the bane of my existence because NOBODY can just have fun in those games (unless its helldivers). Apex, COD, Smite, LoL, Valorant, even rocket league. Literally nobody accepts responsibility for the fact they suck at the game so they blame their team and thats just fucking annoying. Good riddance.

Tired of tanks doing bigger hits than me as adc 😂😂. The game is soo unbalanced and its kinda a joke tbh. Theres 0 reason i should be hitting crit 60s with tons of pen, And then at same time im taking over 150 from a tanks attack. Theres 0 reason a tank should be able to 1v1 an adc. Tanks need to be able to tank but they dont need to be a literal walking tank that does huge damage and takes none.

I dont play ranked much anymore, but I don't think I've had a solo laner or support have top dmg in quite a while. And the guy I play with is a high diamond-low masters player and only plays tank. Not saying they don't do a absurd amount dmg for a tank, but top dmg from my experience doesn't happen much

The copium of some people, Warriors don't deal high burst damage anymore unless they go full damage. When building traditionally their damage comes SOLELY from Bluestone, Gladiator's, and base damage which sure it does DECENT damage, but it only does damage against squishy people meanwhile try dealing any significant damage to another Warrior or Guardian isn't feasible in the mid to lategame. The HP + Physical Power items being limited to only the hammer line and you don't wanna build more than one. CDR is such an important stat because their abilities is all they got. Mages and Hunters should be getting top damage by the end of the game and warriors will be in the middle tier, Warriors carrying games is pretty low nowadays. Remember having ZERO additional defense means you take full damage, build a single defense item and see how much that genuinely helps your survivability on a Mage. Hunters I understand, all you got is either pain or pain when playing.
