Yes its surprised me he doesn't do more interviews because he's actually good at it. I have repeatedly referenced the interview he did with Yanis Varoufakis. I think that was one of Yanis's best interviews or talks.

@@degoth_spirestone Fake news. If your comment gets deleted it's because KZbin's AI judged it to be too divisive. Try less lies, less swear words and/or less violence next time.

@@degoth_spirestone Be careful about claiming that comments are deleted. *MOST of that is being done by the YT Algorithm.* For what ever reason about a year ago there was a change and many comments are ghosted. The most common cause I've heard is people putting links in their comments even if they are to other KZbin videos. I suspect its more than that and possibly something to do with dislikes. No doubt there is odd stuff going on at Google and YT.

Read some of his bullshit titles trying to predict arrests he's clearly pushing political rhetoric in his political videos. Social Media is not the cement the ground the earth in which you and me walk on. And thank god. Someone said socials give individuals the notion that they have abilities beyond their capabilities I found that fascinatingly true. Also this "host" or narrator is good here in this video. Like you said up top they filter their viewers comments to filter opinions so they look better on the outside versus in in a nutshell it's all views subs and likes their power and glory hungry just like any other red blooded American..

Yes. Social media is a problem. It prevents people from building true ‘people’ skills- that can only come from face to face interactions. It also convinces people that they have skills, intelligence and expertise in areas that they simply do not. It has also dramatically increased a sense of entitlement and decreased discipline, humility and rational thinking. Society has become less empathic and compassionate as a result of all of these issues that were significantly increased by the presence of social media.

It’s not so much what content you’re consuming, but rather how you are consuming it. Mindfulness, in everything you do is what takes the experience to the next level. Not necessarily good/bad, but deep. Not necessarily meaningful, but honest and true to your experience and interpretation of the consumption in that moment. Your interpretation is of course entirely dictated by your conditioning, life experiences, cultural and social conditioning, and not at all objective.

You're right, but just remember you're on social media RIGHT NOW. The problem isn't social media. Just like cars, guns and many other things aren't the problems we may think. *ITS THE WAY PEOPLE USE THEM* or should I say the way people *ABUSE* them that's the problem. There is something completely lacking today and that's a sort of social contract with responsibility. By virtue of the way our societies function we all (depending where we live) have certain freedoms and obligations. The problem with some of those freedoms like social media is there is *NO* obligation to use it responsibly. Remember we get a car license that allows us to drive. If we abuse that then we can have out license taken away.

Call me old-fashioned, but I'd prefer to see society go back to the era where social media didn't exist. It's ironic how social media has only made people's social skills worse. Physical interactions with other people seem to matter less and less, and those addicted to it seem to have more in common with robots than with human beings. And forget having a respectful debate on the Internet. There are no opinions - only good takes and bad takes. Too much of anything can be bad for you, and information is no exception. Social media bombards users left and right with info that may _(or may not)_ be true, and it succeeds in giving us too much to worry about. It's the sort of stuff that keeps people up at night. I'm so glad I don't use TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, or any of those types of platforms. As it stands, I'm already addicted to KZbin, and that alone is enough to burn me out. I can't imagine what my emotional state would be if I used anything more...

Social media is a medium. I don’t think it’s fair to say that in itself is a major problem. Rather the people who unscrupulously abuse it for their own causes are the issue. A lot of this imo, would be settled if TOS’s were more strictly enforced. Twitter is an example…. It’s going down in literal flames and it’s primarily because they’ve flung up the door for harassment campaigns and abuse. No advertisers want to be associated with that.

Fact: television was absolutely used to educate children in an incredible new way, and it still is. The same is true of the internet. We do have the instinct of thinking ahead. I don't believe that television and social media technologies have been a net negative; I believe these technologies have had a net positive effect. Does that mean there is no negative impact? Of course not. I suppose it's a matter of what we focus on and how we measure the impact of new technologies. What seems obvious to me, and I'd wager that data based research would support this supposition; human behavior, both socially and individually, may be cyclical - but the advance of technology is persistent. We keep inventing new shit. I believe history has demonstrated that the advance of technology does not stop, and this always impacts the social dynamic for our benefit and for ill.

Whether the problem is us or them won't solve the problem. A solution I see is restricting social media sites from promoting news sites or news like sites that actually are spreading conspiracy theories or false narratives. They can still push their content, but fewer will get the message and the creators don't get rich.

@@renatajd7758 I literally watch everything from far left progressives to far right conservatives. I just can't understand the support for progressives or left leaning views. Left idolized goverment assistance, interference, and self gratification while the right idolized servitude towards family, community, and self regulation. Human nature will never allow you to be satisfied with self gratification; thus the whole thing with power corrupts. This ideology leads to addiction and corruption. Servitude does not allow for that to happen. You must take care of yourself in order to serve others so it's a win win for the community or family as a whole. I just don't see how leftist ideology can improve a community in the long run.
