About the book: Robert Greene is a master guide for millions of readers, distilling ancient wisdom and philosophy into essential texts for seekers of power, understanding and mastery. Now he turns to the most important subject of all - understanding people's drives and motivations, even when they are unconscious of them themselves.
We are social animals. Our very lives depend on our relationships with people. Knowing why people do what they do is the most important tool we can possess, without which our other talents can only take us so far. Drawing from the ideas and examples of Pericles, Queen Elizabeth I, Martin Luther King Jr, and many others, Greene teaches us how to detach ourselves from our own emotions and master self-control, how to develop the empathy that leads to insight, how to look behind people's masks, and how to resist conformity to develop your singular sense of purpose. Whether at work, in relationships, or in shaping the world around you, The Laws of Human Nature offers brilliant tactics for success, self-improvement, and self-defense.
About Robert Greene: Robert Greene is an American author known for his books on strategy, power and seduction. He has written five international bestsellers: The 48 Laws of Power, The Art of Seduction, The 33 Strategies of War, The 50th Law and Mastery.

I like how Mr. Green is trying to make people he's conversing with aware of their own personal behaviors/shortcomings, and how, unfortunately, sometimes his these people don't seem to be able to pick up on the (pretty obvious if paying attention) clues. Over explaining (asking a question in ten different ways, ..a simple question too👨‍🎤) while talking to an incredibly intelligent person (who probably knows what the question will be/is before you've even opened your mouth, figuratively speaking/writing) is also an interesting thing to watch/listen.., but watching is definitely more "interesting". The cost of honesty. Everybody loves comfortable lies but nobody loves the truth. Rather just live a lie than to better and improve themselves and do what's right. @Skatinima
@Skatinima 5 жыл бұрын
@@SammyCee23 I learned that everyone's a narcissist and to not take their self absortion personally. Rather, study people like any other natural phenomenon or being, like studying a plant. By keeping this in my mind I'm able to behave in a much more controlled, human manner when dealing with anti-social behavior. Also, I learned to take a few days before acting, when the reason for doing so is solely emotional. You end up not doing many things that you would otherwise regret by implementing this strategy of delaying action against someone else.

Great, eye-opening, and encouraging interview. When I feel envy I try to transform it to inspiration. I prefer surrounding myself, if it’s only so “virtually” or by books and literature in certain times, with people who are/appears much more courageous, insightful, wise and talented than myself. See others as positive motivation and drive, and sometimes I can relate to potentials in me, or obstacles, to what I want to achieve. And the feelings of envy grows weaker; when I acknowledge it I can also let it pass and transform to something positive-inspiration. And then I can feel thankful and joy for the success of others. It is a kind of light feeling; light as in not heavy.

The enviers omg I’ve seen this happen in my family especially with the micro-expressions. I would test my family members when something good already happened because I noticed when I told them my plans they would sabotage what I was doing. This is how I figured out who I needed to communicate with and who I needed to stop communicating with. This is how I was able to really do better in life by separating from toxic people. Follow your dreams guys & go where you are celebrated even if you gotta start completely alone.
