Hey Choc, I'm glad you are having fun with this game. It's honestly my favourite sonic game. Some quick tip: If you ever feel like back tracking, and you want to get all the medals without completing the stage; you can simply collect the medal, and exit the stage. You still get to keep medal. Just note that this only works on stages you completed. Also, In terms of the sun and moon medals: if you are looking to just beat the game, you need 120 sun medals and 80 medals. you can get them by beating side stories (aka, interacting with the towns people) and extra stages in each world. If you want to take advantage of an expliot: go to Chun Nun (day time), > go to the area with all the stages > there will be an line of rings to the left (its just before first stage that lights up, don't remember what kind of stage it is) > wall jump up > you will see a circle of rings > dash into them > and just keep walking around. and you will get unlimited rings. You can use them to buy chili dogs at each world's location. If you feed them to sonic, he will gain XP (you can also feed chip some food, to see his reactions). do it enough, and you can max out sonic. You can also use this trick to get to 99 lives (however, you have to exit the area and come back to do this). Hopes this helps!

About the Eggbeetle: The long grabby fire bits are actually mandibles, not horns! If the critter Eggman referenced for its shape is actually a Stag Beetle, then the long grabbers are actually an extension of the jaw, not a separate pair of antlers or horns grown from the carapace or shell. Given the articulation of the mandibles on the Eggbeetle though, another fun reference Eggman may have used could be the Tailess Whip Scorpion! While they have eight legs (they're arachnids, the two first legs are very spindly and faint though, giving them a similar overall shape to the above) and are not insects (see the Eggbeetle's six instead, placing it closer to the beetle's insect form), Tailess Whip Scorpions have massive chelae ending instead in pincers, but a very similar body shape to the Eggbeetle, and the articulated folding pincer joints. A cool looking robot overall!

One suggestion I could give against day bosses is that you can boost straight into the weak point. Best practice would be against the Egg Beetle and just consistently boost into the weak point when it opens up and even when it starts rolling around. Just keep boosting to stack up the hits in a quicker time. It's very satisfying seeing it ragdoll around.

I always liked the night stages more than the day stages, mostly because I was really, really bad at controlling Sonic at full speed and would constantly mess up and either struggle slowly through a segment or go full speed and brute force it until I got lucky (and I think the devs knew it was unfair at times, 1up's respawn and are often put in front of checkpoints). I do think the night stages are too long but I do like that it doesn't really punish the player's score if they take ages, they wanted you to explore. But oh boy the final stretch of this game, it was too much and I never beat it, mostly because of getting frustrated.

I personally feel that Jungle Joyride (Day) is the perfect stage to test all of the skills that you've learned up until that point in the game. The opening of that stage is insane but man does it feel good when you master it. The thing with Unleashed is that it rewards players who replay through the stage to learn all the alternate paths and techs. You might feel good on your first run through of a stage but trust me, when you really learn the stage and get used to the controls, you genuinely feel like a super sonic hedgehog blasting through these cities at light speed, it's incredible and in my opinion is the fastest Sonic has ever felt. But in regards to Rooftop Run (Day) it is generally just a really fun stage that offers moderate challenge while also being easy enough to feel fast on your first go. Pair that with the amazingly energetic ost and I can absolutely see why it's a lot of people's favourite stage and why it's been brought back over other Unleased stages. In general though, I think every Day stage and even the night stages are just great and fun to play
@engeloflight6849 Жыл бұрын
Wow the speed in Rooftop Run was crazy. If it got me dizzy and I'm not the one playing, I can't imagine if I were to play it for myself, still it looked super fun. I assume you can get even more insane speed in that stage. To me it also feels like the closest point of view of what Sonic sees and feels when he runs at the moment or at least a portion of it. Wonder 🤔 if Sega will ever reach a point we're they can fully manage to make that real. Able to fully feel and experience what Sonic does when he runs. Although tough it's probability that a lot of people wouldn't be able to handle it. But interesting thing to imagine regardless. Thanks for the video Editor and Choc!.

Choc's style of videos generally has a lot of edits and cuts, but the way that Rooftop Run had minimal cuts and let us experience that level's flow along with Choc... that was rather nice. Thank you, Choc and editor.

Have you ever thought about how the Werehog is actually canonically weaker than regular sonic?

I still believe to this day that the Werehog stages are what we would have got if Sega of the time decided to make a 3-D Ristar game. Same stretchy arms, similar climbing and swinging sections, and the same "let's make every platformer mascot into God Of War" trend from that era.

Is it me or does it look like the humans in this game look like they are in Garfield Gets Real?

I really wish KZbin allowed episode numbers in the title. I shouldn't be going to the description to see how much I've missed.

Here’s a tip for sun and moon medals: collect all the medals in the hub world. I did this and I only had to back track in a level once. It’s worth it

“I should’ve known you’d still be alive.” That line makes me curious how the development of both versions of the game went, because it oddly enough makes more sense in the Wii/PS2 version where the Tornado stages are absent. You’d think all priority would be given to the bigger release. Then again, I’m glad both versions are fun in their own right. Still, I wonder if that was a hiccup or what.
