"I'm having goosebumps, just by the piano" - Imagine playing the game, since the first one, and realising at that moment that Soul of Cinder is Gwyn, the Lord of Cinder, and hear his music from Dark Souls 1, but inside another music. It was magical.
@Vakiuzo4 жыл бұрын
i totally agree. i felt like DS2 devs tried to forget most of the original lore while leaving some easter eggs to suggest continuity, which was ok to me. Now in DS3 the moment i heard Gwyn's theme in Soul of Cinder i was VERY emotional and now i see many reasons why like yeah, the switch from this epic final boss theme to a slow and humble piano,the entire arena resembles the last area of the original DS, the implications in the lore with the fact that it is literally the melody of gwyn, how soul of cinder changes it's moveset to mimic Gwyn's, then all of this leads me to think about how the developers cared for these connections and then whoops i was crying. Leitmotifs are such a powerful resource and Dark Souls 3 had so many. i've never felt something like that in games to this day.

'Nothing extraordinary about the 1st half,' that's the point. The Soul of Cinder basically represents all the warriors who ever linked the fire, uses moves available to us, and even has the old ninja flip from the 1st game. The boss is essentially an amalgamation of every person who has played a Souls game and finished it at least once. There is nothing extraordinary about the 1st half of the track and neither is the player character as well. But in spite of that, we still overcame all the obstacles, trials, monsters, abominations, and former lords these games have thrown at us. That's what makes special despite lacking a defining trait.

@The_Last_Storm4 жыл бұрын
Yup and that’s what makes the piano hit so much harder because it’s Gwyn’s theme, the first one to link the fire. You hit that piano and his fighting style changes from the players move sets (everyone else to link the flame, aka the players) to Gywn’s move set from the first game and then plays his track to because you’ve fought through everyone that linked the flame and are now down the the FIRST you to do it. For some context, this is the final boss for DS3. He goes through several different phases which have varied movesets that incorporates player moves. During the part where the piano comes in, it’s a reprise of Gywn’s theme, and at that point Soul if Cinder starts to incorporate Gwyn’s attacks. The implication, I believe, is that SoC has essentially absorbed the essence of Gwyn, as well as the player characters from DS and DS2.
@finnabon4 жыл бұрын
Soul of Cinder is assumed to be a culmination of every being who has ever linked the fire/every Lord of Cinder, as evidenced by the boss soul being called "Soul of the Lords." Gwyn, being the original Lord of Cinder, gets his own phase. People call it a lazy rehash, but I think it's quite tasteful and fitting.

You already reacted to Gwyns theme from Dark Souls 1, Wich Is the final Boss Fight. This Is final Boss Fight of Dark Souls 3, this boss in first phase uses different moves that the player can use as well, in the second phase, however, He Summons the soul of Gwyn from first game and starts using his moves + some new ones. Thats also when the piano comes in And Is the Same as Gwyns. The Plin Plin Plon, as it Is called in the community, brought up many different feelings in many different players when they first heard it. Also a little side note, the first song you ever hear in the first Dark Souls, the title screen theme, Is named Prologue, while the last song you Hear in the last dark Souls, the ending credits theme, Is called epilogue. I personally think that Soul of Cinder Theme is more of a melting of the best themes of the Soul's series. The best Theme in my Eyes is Slave Knight Gael.

the piano section is the final boss theme from Dark Souls 1, when the piano section begins, the Soul Of Cinder switches to the fighting style of Gwyn, the Lord of Sunlight, final boss of Dark Souls 1. Also know as the "Plin Plin Plon"

Song starts off making you think it’s an amazing duel between two warriors at their prime of battle, then turns into feelings of questioning if you’re actually doing the right thing, feelings of despair and almost regret after it is over

Awesome reaction! I agree with many others: you should definitly react to Gael's theme next. It's just on another level!

Slave knight Gael is for me the best boss of all the souls and it has of course the best epic soundtrack to me. He is the true end of the serie and I think you should react to it.

Dark Souls is all about a Flame that fades. And this Song represents this very well. Starts loud and strong like a fire lighting up and then starts to get quiet until it fades unless you rekindle it.

I absolutely love your work man, I really like watching you videos, they're great! I would like to give you two request because I know you would do it great and both have a lot of things to talk about: - Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows - Tick Tock - Red Dead Redemption 2 - Blood Feuds, Ancient and Modern Both are really good tracks and I think you would do an excellent work breaking them down. Keep the good work man! 💪

Hi! I highly recommend the Nightmare King Grimm OST from Hollow Knight. It’s one of my favorite boss fights of all time in any video game, and the OST is phenomenal. Also, Lady Maria’s theme from Bloodborne is a masterpiece as well.

in my opinion the 4 best themes in the Dark Souls Franchise are : 1)Dark Souls III - Main Menu Theme 2)Dark Souls III - Lorian, Elder Prince & Lothric, Younger Prince 3)Dark Souls III - Slave Knight Gael (The Ringed City) (-- NOT the Transitory Lands ver.) 4)Dark Souls II Scholar of the First Sin - Sir Alonne I recommend those :) Honorable mention: Dark Souls III - Abyss Watchers

The main menu theme is incredible. Sometimes I boot the game up and just sit there for a while listening to it.

Another great video! I hope you can eventually make it on to the Halo soundtracks. Halo 3 "Never Forget" is one of the most soulful pieces of music in gaming in my opinion. Also "Keep what you Steal".

please react to Slave Knight Gael. it's a beautiful track! (also, i prefer KZbin's automatically generated version, it showcases the whole track without looping any parts)
@ethanware79924 жыл бұрын
Agreed! The loops ruin the transition. This is particularly important with Gael’s theme because it has one of the hardest “beat drops” in video game music lol

The throwback to the final boss of DS1 when the piano kicks in is just HNGGGGG, and when this phase starts and the Soul of Cinder starts using attacks we remember from 5 years ago, Gwyns attacks, his leaping slash, his grab, his kick. AHHHHHHHHHHHH
