Oh, and I've also used sound deadening (Alubutyl) with my first build, but then I discovered that if you use glued Armaflex insulation, you don't really need any Alubutyl beneath it at all. By the way, Alubutyl is only doing anything to deaden sound on large metal surfaces (40x40 cm and more) that swing easily and are noisy when you knock on them, like the roof and side panels. The wheelhouses and the stifffeners ("frame") are very solid and will not swing easily. It is correct to use only small patches, it's not useful to cover the whole panel. This tip will save at least 20 kg of weight and quite some money, too. 🙂

Hey Christoph, Thanks for watching! You're absolutely right about it not being super necessary. All in all I used about 3kg and it cost less then 30 euros so I just went for it anyways🙃 What van did you build out?
@christophv.950628 күн бұрын
@lukestoolbox I already wrote that in another comment that disappeared, probably because of the link it contained. I've had 2x Doblo Maxi 223 as Campers, now I just bought a 263 Maxi Natural Power just like yours.

@christophv.9506 Oh wow that's awesome!! Yes, I don't see anything, probably deleted by KZbin... Have fun with your own build - keep me updated :)

The aluminum side of Alubutyl will greatly reduce road heat if applied to the entire floor.

I don't mind some cow content. Would prefer Roadrunner content but it is what it is. 😇

Wow! Skandivaian livestock is so violent! Didn't know farming in the North was so dangerous! 🤣🤣🤣 Yes. I understand the frustration with the headlights. When I was your age, headlights in all cars were designed to be taken out easily, in just a few minutes. Today, engineers just don't seem to have the skills or the common sense that they used to. The best thing to do is consult the manual or an online tutorial..... for a simple headlight! It's rediculous.

Haha we're not in Scandinavia quite yet - still in Switzerland :) Yepp it's crazy... I ended up just polishing them up, which worked like a charm! (in episode 8)

coming along nicely!! this might be a dumb question but why not add one big patch of the sound deadening sheets? why do it in patches? Also that whole headlight thing is the dumbest thing i have ever heard! take off the wheels ?!
@lukestoolbox4 ай бұрын
You sure could do that but it's a bit overkill. The sound deadening is super heavy so covering the entire van would add at least a couple dozen pounds. Also mainly the big surfaces lead to that rattling sound -> covering up the "solid" metal beams / studs doesnt really do anything. And yesss the headlights are sooo stupid😭😭😭

I'm just thinking... is it really possible to reach North Cape with a CNG driven car?
@lukestoolbox4 ай бұрын
Hey Anders! Thanks for watching :) I think it should work for around 97% of the way there. My van has a 300km range on CNG but also an additional petrol tank which lasts around 250km😀
