I gave up golf 16 years ago when I had to be helped off the course with severe back spasms. I started playing again a year ago after watching these stack and tilt lessons by Jess. After a year I can say that I have had no back problems and feel confident that I won’t in the future. This method puts far less stress in your lower back. I wish I knew about it back in the day!

Coach Jess, your guidance on the front knee flex/firm rear leg was an important piece I have been overlooking. The book explains it, other videos mention it, but I guess I needed to hear it from you! I used one of those golf mirror gadgets (highly recommend btw) and realized some distance loss wasn’t ALL attributable to galloping senility; I wasn’t tilting properly behind the ball. Duh! Thanks yet again for being one of only three or four websites where I actually comment. As a classroom teacher, I also value your methodology.

Wow thank you so much Sam! I really appreciate your comments and thank you so much for watching! The changing of the knee flex is something overlooked by many golfers. I love helping :)

Jess, I’m 76 and have played the game for 65 years, at a fairly high level in my younger years. I have some stenosis in my cervical and lumbar spine, and several years ago I had to give up on the conventional golf swing. My back and neck just wouldn’t tolerate it. I’ve been on a futile search since then, and I’ve been lurking on your channel for awhile now and experimenting with S&T. What I’ve found is that I can’t make a full S&T backswing (to P4); it quickly gets to my lumbar spine. But I can comfortably make shorter swings to P3, kind of like you would do when you’re warming up. Contact is good, direction is good, I just don’t get great distance. Physically I’m built about like you are and I’m in pretty good shape…if you were working with an old man like me with some mobility issues, would you tell me to stick with S&T and just play with the shorter swing, say P3 to P9? I’m leaning that way now; I’d just like your confirmation that a short S&T swing is a good way for an old man to play the game. Thanks for your help; I appreciate it…

Hey Larry P3-P9 is an awesome way to play:) Just take an extra club. As long as you are making great contact that's all that matters. You can also do online lessons with me.

Thanks for the reply Jess; much appreciated. I do have one question: What changes do you make to hit an intentional fade with this swing, say with a driver on a dogleg right or a cut 6-iron into a tight pin? I’ve fought the hook my entire life, and the way I’ve always fixed it is to intentionally play a fade for awhile. How do you personally go about hitting a fade with your S&T setup and swing? Thanks again; I think I’ve finally found my old-man golf swing with the S&T P3-P9. You’ve given an old fart his golf game back; you should feel good about that! 👍

I am totally convinced this is easier on the body. I wish I discovered these fundamentals a long time ago. I feel misled by traditional golf instruction. Some of the greatest players in history tilted and may very well had their weight forward at address.

Thanks Jess! I suffer back pain due to herniated discs so it is great to confirm this will help. Short question….once I extend my right leg in the backswing it’s supposed to stay extended in the downswing and impact? Thanks again!
@JessFrankGolfAcademyBocaRaton3 жыл бұрын
Hello and thanks for watching straightening the trail leg in the backswing allows the hips to tilt and turn but in the downswing it actually flexes again and extends in the follow through

Ì love the SnT system..but have had to move away from it due to injury....i dont think S n T caused this i think it was me doing it badly... I think the moving the hips forward was the problem ...when i got it wrong i seemed to lunge forward and this hurt my back...everytime i try it now i feel pain.. I played my best golf using this system and kept consistent single figures for about 5 years... I would say if done properly no problem but if you get the moves wrong you are very close to a back problem.. I have had to move to a more natural swing ...leting my left heal rise up off the ground to ease the pressure in my back All systems work ...thats why there are a 100 different swings on tour.... You just need to find the one that works for you
