Couple days ago during my round, my final swing thought for every drive and approach was simply "relationship with the ball." You are exactly right. For me this thought somehow eliminates me having to think about all the stuff that I used to: keep face square going back, right wrist not cupped at top, right elbow close to body, etc etc. I haven't hit the ball this crispy in awhile. Didn't even get to try it at the range. Just the thought of "relationship with the ball" has set me on the right track. Thank you again

Wow, I can’t wait to try this ball striking technique. Im 68 years old and have been very frustrated as Ive aged hitting the ball. The left shoulder point to the ball feels very natural as I practice. I also watched your video on short swing. I can’t move like I used to so am going to use those tips too! Thank you so much for giving me hope again Mr. Saguto!!!

@Thor 0630 - I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated well with you!! You may also be interested in knowing that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. Have you considered the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of the online school? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. I hope you'll give the school some thought. Tom

@@SagutoGolf I’ll check that out. I have a tear in my right meniscus, so I have to try and swing more gently. I think the half swing should be less stress. Thanks Tom
@SagutoGolf Жыл бұрын
@Thor 0630 - Since our weight favors the lead leg at setup and gradually increases the forward load throughout the motion, you should find this swing to be quite gentle on your right knee. Actually, it's very friendly for both knees.

HinPaul. Great video as always. I did write a message a few weeks ago saying my local pro has been teaching me this technique and how much I have improved since trying to implement it.All I think about now is getting my lead shoulder down to the ball, the results are amazing. Used to play off 8 went up to 13 now back down to 11, trying to get back to single figures……the more I practice, the luckier I get.😀👍

I love this tip and it has dramatically improved my iron game; I am hitting my irons better at 61 years of age than when I was 31. Shot a 38 for the first time in my life on the front nine of my 'home' course. Still having issues with the driver; I find it hard to transition from the steeper iron swing to the more shallow driver swing. By the way, great guitar jamming during the range session. Hope you survived 'Ian' without too much stress.
@SagutoGolf2 жыл бұрын
That's awesome, Jeffrey - congrats on your personal best 9-hole score!! You need to keep the hips moving laterally during the downswing all the way through impact - that will keep the path appropriately shallowed. Oftentimes with the driver this lateral action quits prematurely due to the wider stance. There's plenty of instruction in the online school to help you with this. You can also arrange for a V1 swing video analysis if you'd like. This enables me to put my eyes on your swing and offer some very specific observations and corrective action plans if applicable. I liken it to bringing your swing into the shop for a tune-up or minor repair. Scheduling one on a quarterly basis for preventive maintenance will do wonders for keeping things humming along nicely, and it's also a great tool for pinpointing and resolving any issues that arise. The process involves downloading the free V1 app and then submitting two videos to me through the app - one down-the-line (captured from your stance line, not the target line) and the other face-on. You'll find more information about the V1 Analysis halfway down this page on the Saguto.Golf site: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolf Glad you enjoyed the guitar work, and yes - we got through the storm with minimal issues - thanks for asking!! Tom

The way I see it, we can either simply put the already existing natural laws to work for us, or we can twist, morph, torque, contrive, and otherwise mess with the principles of physics and geometry in an effort to better suit some ill-conceived whims, all the while recognizing that at the point of impact those pre-existing laws are going to be the only things that matter to the ball! I'm glad to know that you are enjoying my content! You're very correct on that cause for topped shots. I play with a couple of golfers that will say they took their "eye off the ball" but actually you can change your spine tilt and still keep your eyes on the ball!
@SagutoGolf2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, Bob! The dynamic - and body-friendly - changing condition of the spine keeps our head in place without any straining. So yes - the vast majority of golfers who say they took there eye off the ball in actuality had the eye taken off the ball as a result of a defect in their spine action. Great point! Tom

Mr. Saguto, your videos have been great for a 4 month beginner like me. I practice and practice a lot. My biggest issue with the shoulder pointing at the ball is consistency. For some reason I will hit 10 great shots at the range following this method. Then I will switch clubs or take a break and then I miss, or top or hit the ground first the next 10. At the driving range you can adjust and get over it. When your on the course it's extremely disappointing. So I guess I am just venting a bit..lol. I will continue to watch your great videos and hopefully one day find something that will click and help me be more consistent.

I'm very glad to learn of your progress, Fred! The hiccups you are speaking of are part of golf, but you should find that they occur less frequency as you ingrain the motions and grow more comfortable with the overall swing in general. You're still very new to the game, so have patience with yourself, laugh off the sideways shots, and enjoy the process! @SagutoGolf2 жыл бұрын
I appreciate your kind words, Frank, and I'm very glad to learn of your improvement!! The net is a DIY job. It is approximately 7’ tall and 8’ wide. We used this video as a starting point - kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6GUYqSpaaplipI - and then made some other minor PVC support structure modifications to suit our needs. We did not use PVC cement as this allows us to easily disassemble it if necessary. The netting we used is 10' x 10' golf cage impact net purchased from Amazon, and it differs from the screening material in the video. (By the way, if using a net like we did you probably won’t need the screw hooks that are mentioned in the video - bungees should suffice.) Also, I have a Real Feel 3x5 Country Club Elite® Golf Mat. Thank you Pro for simplifying this insanity! Had it going nice one day then I noticed strikes more towards toe. I tend to set up hands higher & I mimic your bump towards target does this affect the toe strike? Big fan!
@SagutoGolf29 күн бұрын
My pleasure! I'm very glad to know that my lesson content and teaching style are resonating with you and providing clarity and simplicity in the muddied, overly complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction. There are various causes of toe hits, with the most common being related to setup (for example, the arms are not hanging down naturally and are in fact slightly reaching away from the body at address) or a downswing path that is coming from the outside and across the ball. Having said that, it's really not possible for me to diagnose the cause of your toe hits without actually seeing your swing. By the way, there are entire sections of my online school dedicated to diagnosing and resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues. Have you looked into it? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Excellent vids. Thank you. Very helpful to me. At set up I’ve noticed most pro’s have the ball set up on the heel before takeaway. That is on irons through driver. What do you suggest? Thanks.
@SagutoGolf10 ай бұрын
I'm glad you're enjoying my content! With regard to ball position, we first need to be aware that camera angles can greatly skew the viewer's perspective - whether it be in these YT videos or when watch a tournament on TV. That aside, while this system affords you some leeway, in general once my students and members show some level of proficiency with the swing I suggest that they migrate to a stock ball position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and creeping more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver (with the stance width increasing as we move from shorter to longer clubs). From there they can make incremental tweaks to see how different positions affect impact quality and shot shape. Tom PS: By the way, since my channel's content is connecting well with you, I think you will really like my FREE mini course - “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” - where you can learn some key aspects of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner. what do you focus on in your head when swinging? like do you focus on your left shoulder pointing at the ball? or your right hips turning to the right? or you arms straight? or holding your "wall" on the left legs, etc?
@SagutoGolf Жыл бұрын
Hi Olivier, My own personal "feels" are not relevant to you because they are unique to me. 😎 Beyond that, they do change quite regularly. (Although as long as my setup is good and I've pre-established the necessary connections, I can trust that no matter my "feel du jour", it's going to get me moving properly through the motion.) This is why I do my best to convey multiple feels or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. However, no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the desired positions, motions, and ball striking results. This is one reason why the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school is so effective, and why thousands of folks across the globe are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result (and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews ). The lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness. Tom

what is the difference between your oversized grip to a standard grip size that you notice on how it affects your swing or ball flight
@SagutoGolf11 ай бұрын
I was actually using JumboMax Ultralite grips in extra-large for much of 2022 and the first part of 2023. I had wanted to give them a try for a few reasons, including the fact that DeChambeau uses them and we share similar swing philosophies. I personally love the feel as well as how they help to keep my hands quiet through the zone. Now, having said that, I recently purchased a new set of PXG's, and since they don't carry the Jumbo's in-house I went with their largest available grip, which is a midsize. I absolutely love the clubs, and I'm putting the factory grips through the playing test before deciding whether or not to have them regripped. There are no issues with the Jumbos and I still really like the way they feel; that's just where I'm at presently. The Jumbos are not necessarily for everyone - and my fingers are a bit longer than average - so I routinely tell folks to "try before you buy." However, having a properly sized grip that feels both comfortable and secure is critically important as it is our only connection to the object that is going to deliver us blissful joy or deep anguish, yet it is perhaps also the most overlooked equipment fitting component in golf. Tom

If you were aiming for that tree with the 3w on the range, nice, very consistent! I have been doing this for awhile now, come to think of it I think you showed a video with Palmer and talked about how he said it was his number one key, shoulder to the ball on the way back and the through. So basically I do 2 swing thoughts, 1st is logo of the glove down to the ground and then shoulder to the ball and that is literally it. The rest is just grip it and rip it, so freeing to only really concentrate on the target!

You’ve heard this from me before. Quit teaching golf, managing course and even playing because of left knee issues. Had Total Knee Replacement, not to play golf, but improve quality of life. After initial knee replacement tried playing but had issues. Surgery #6 made me think about playing. Bought Cobra Single Length Irons. Why? Less adjustment in stance. But left knee hyperextension got worse. Surgery #7 fixed my hyperextension. Love your videos. Have been practicing at a range. Will join Saguto.golf. But what are your thought on SL Irons? Impact and getting that Krispy feeling always an issue.

Hi Ron, I'm looking forward to seeing you in the school! When you enroll, please be sure to get involved in the members forum community. There's been quite a bit of dialogue in the forum about One Length irons, and there are members - including low handicap/scratch players - who swear by them. Cheers! Tom

Tom, just getting out of the deep freeze 🥶 in Canada. Starting to go to the indoor range. Definitely different feel but liking it so far. Connection seems to be getting better. But a lot more draws in my ball striking. Any advice? Thank you sir.

I'm glad to know that you're finally starting to thaw out up there, Mitch. The season is coming..... Most folks don't complain about a draw (unless it turns into an overdraw, that is). There are entire sections of my online school dedicated to resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues. Have you looked into it? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. Thousands of folks across the globe are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Here's a link if you would like to know more about the school - saguto.golf Keep up the great work!! Tom

Hi Tom, love your videos. Can you help give advice for when the ball is above and below your feet please.
@SagutoGolf Жыл бұрын
The keys to playing a shot when the ball is below your feet are in 1) adjusting your setup to properly orient yourself to the ball (since it will be closer to you, your upper body will be angled more towards the ground than on a standard shot), 2) balancing yourself as you may need to feel your weight more towards the heels of your feet depending on the severity of the slope, 3) taking an extra club or two than you normally would from the given distance, and 4) aligning yourself with the expectation that the ball will fade. Once you are oriented, balanced, and properly aligned, you are ready to execute the swing as taught. Bump your hips forward an inch as you typically would so your weight favors the front side 55-60%, and when you take it back make sure that your weight stays forward and your shoulders do not flatten out as they turn, as they will have a tendency to do so due to their preset steeper orientation. In fact, a good thought for this shot is to keep the chest pointing down as you turn, since mishits from this type of lie are oftentimes a result of the golfer coming out of his or her tilt in the backswing. Conversely, a ball above your feet will necessitate having your upper body oriented for a less steep shoulder turn that allows the club to work more around the body, weight perhaps favoring the balls of the feet depending on slope severity, and allowing for a drawing ball flight. You'll likely need to choke down on the club a bit, and for this reason plus the curvature you may also want to club up for this shot, bearing in mind that the ball may tend to roll out more upon landing due to the draw spin. Once again, after making these adjustments you'll want to execute the swing motions as taught - weight forward, tilt/turn/extend, hands in, keeping your swing center intact. By the way, since you are liking my channel's content, I think you will also enjoy my FREE mini course - “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” - where you can learn some key aspects of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner.
