Hi guys! This was a long time putting together. We didn't include everything this game has but if we did this video would be 6 hours long. Hope you enjoy the video! - Craig and Heather 🙂

great video! Would it be a good experience to also play this as someone who enjoyed Mass Effect Andromeda? (unpopular preference, but I liked that game, but not as much as the initial trilogy.)

As a Bethesda Fanboy, I've been playing Skyrim for 15 years, it's my go to when I don't know what to play, when I want some comfort gaming, I've returned to it time and time again. As such I was sooooo hyped for this game and it did nothing but disappoint. Was it over hyped and under developed? yes. But Bethesda only have themselves to blame for that. For me the SciFi genre is all about discovery, the alure of the unknown.. and Starfield has non of it. No sentient aliens, no other cultures, no discovery of the new and unknown. You play this game for 40mins and you have experienced 90% of the discovery it has to offer. Layer in the clunky menus, annoying NPC's, lack luster main story, generic weapons, the list of issues goes on and on. It's just mind blowing that the company behind Skyrim & Fallout, brought us this. truly disappointing.

This was my issues as well, I hate the whole multiverse bs and the fact that there’s no alien cultures or different was to play the game is really boring. I wanted a Skyrim in space this is nothing like that.

The shooting in starfield is fine but the biggest issues are the boring soulless setting, boring exploration, and complete lack of immersion. I don't know how that can be fixed without seriously going back to the drawing board, but if modders can add a one big map that feels like the Commonwealth that would go a long way to making it fun. I like the space ship but going between planets feels awful. I just want a big map to roam around and stumble into content, not 3000 little maps that feel empty and lifeless

I just downloaded this game 2 days ago and I can definitely see the bugs that are STILL in the game. I remember this game coming out and me being so excited and told myself I’d buy it after reviews come out…. After reading the reviews.. I decided to not get it. 1 year later I am playing it. I am really enjoying it. There is a lot more depth than I anticipated and great short story’s on the side. I think where Bethesda went wrong was they released very short after Baulders Gate, which was Flawless or near perfect in the gaming worlds eyes. Then around 1 month later Star field game came out. Which definitely changed the standard or expectations for them from the gaming community. That leads into my second point, bugs… game was NOT ready. This game was playable but not ready at all. The little things matter. Star field skimmed over those in a lot of areas. I am really enjoying my time playing the game right now.

I waited a few weeks to buy it and the reviews were amazing in the beginning. Also spoilers started to come out, so I bought it. So glad I did. I've enjoying playing this game exclusively, over 600 hours this last year. The story is not bad, the faction quests are very good and I liked all the companions. As a gamer in my 40s I could appreciate their back stories. I think most of the hate is from hard core gamers. This game is more of a slow burn. Those that rushed to NG ruined the experience for themselves.

We're not haters. Its excellent that some people, like yourself, are finding such joy in Starfield and I'm sure the DLC will be a great addition. But we can't ignore the many glaring flaws of a game if we want to create an honest review.

Had my fun with the game- but it deserves tha bad criticism. I don't mind the loading screens, gunplay is ok. Main problem is that stories and quests are really really stupid, boring and bland. You can help each faction in a single playtrough- doesn't change anything. Main fetch quest- as soon as you get powers and figure out what to do with the artifacts.. everybody becomes power hungry maniacs who are utterly uninterested in the mysteries of the temples and artifacts. Who built them and why

i really liked starfield, at least for a while until all the cool quests had run out. but the worst thing about this game were *CONSTANT BUUUUUGS* i had so many technical problems it was no longer funny. at every turn, from endless annoying little glitches every 20 seconds, to multiple game breaking bugs that never got fixed even after months of patching. half the time i was looking for fixes instead of playing. at first it was manageable but the longer i played the worse it got, towards the end game was literally imploding in front of me, it was borderline unplayable. in the end i wasn't able to finish it because last mission got so broken i couldn't fix even with console commands, after many days of searching and trying i gave up and had to watch ending on youtube.
@phillairious4 ай бұрын
I had a similar experience. Main NPC's, ships, and the floor of most major cities vanishing. Even reloading old saves didn't work. I legit couldn't finish 3 of the main quests which left the game extremely shallow. 2 months after release none of it was fixed but they fixed the underground merchant chests so the one positive of the floors being gone was taken away.

I've recently picked up Starfield again myself to play around with survival stuff and I'm bored. I feel that I spend more time farting around in menus, checking afflictions and trying to cure them than playing the game yet still dying anyway. There's far too many Aid items, such as different bandages that treat different afflictions with not enough.hotkey options to cover them. Remembering what hotkey is for whatever item is a nightmare. They need to be condensed imo.

I just recently played through Morrowind, and then Oblivion... Long are the days that Bethesda will produce games with in-depth character building that extends beyond the creation screen. Where you build your character through decisions and choices that are specified to your character's personalities. Questlines only available if you have done certain things and are a certain type of person. Long-winded exploration which fully immerses you in the character, where every decision feels like you are carving your name into the world. Every action feels like it has a consequence and every time you speak to someone, you are upholding the character which you have crafted so dearly through hours of experience. The problem with these games is that it isn't very accessible. Many players will find that this isn't the game for them due to the depth it has, and many people, these days, do not have the time to do that. Bethesda is trying to piggy-back on its franchise by simplifying its formula to a wider audience... now, while I understand that this will make them infinitely more money (again, especially nowadays) than the former, but it also takes the heart away from the games that I love. I loved Morrowind (starting it roughly 10+ years after my first playthrough of Skyrim) and adore how the game truly makes ME feel like I AM that character. Later games allow me to make mistakes and I feel more accustomed to quicksaving and loading if I don't like an outcome.. games like Morrowind make you WANT to live with your mistakes, as they build a story for your character. While this may simply be my playstyle and preference for gameplay, I know that one game makes it feel more implicit and natural than the other. One of them instills the roleplay aspect were you don't want to steal something in fear of getting caught and thrown in jail, whereas the other makes me want to push the boundaries of the game engine and see what I am able to do before reloading a save... Morrowind gives me the feeling of being okay not knowing. I don't care what happens IF because I don't WANT to in fear that I will be thrown in prison - this mainly arises because reloading a save is the last thing I want to do. This is my life and I am living it. Modern Bethesda gamifies that and makes me much less emotionally tied to my decisions. Again, this could just be my preference for playing games, but I cannot ignore how one comes more naturally than another. I love older Bethesda games. They make me feel like I am the character, even if aesthetic is heavily limited... True roleplay and immersion doesn't come simply from making your character look exactly how you want them to, it comes from making decisions and following paths that feel right and align with your morals. I truly think Bethesda lost that. No fault of their own, truly, as the games would not make as much money... but I wish they integrated it into an understandable and playable aspect, instead of just picking the Skill Tree type of levelling which only succeeds in making your combat style (beside persuasion types) more effective.

Great review… but I have to disagree with one thing: the Outer Worlds was also very disappointing… even more so than Starfield in some aspects I dare say. It is more forgivable though given the difference in scope of both projects: maybe an Outer Worlds 2 made with more time & resources will be a more fair comparison, but right now as disappointing as Starfield has been, I still could not recommend the Outer Worlds over it.

Sorry, I don't have 30 minutes to watch all of this, that probably could have been edited down to 5-10 minutes...but the short answer is if you put in a whole bunch of mods, and learn to live with some flaws, it can be a lot of fun if you want it to be. I completely understand that the above is not for everybody.

I couldn't have said it any better. You hit the nail right on the head. I just commented to another video also reviewing the game after one year. I'll just copy my reply here: "I also admit the game has become slightly better with the updates. The game looks graphically better and runs more smoothly. You also got rid of the endless desert walks towards base and hideouts (which REALLY p*ssed me off). But there's still something missing. Starfield needs a 'purpose'. Raiding planets, building settlements and circulating the main story endlessly does not give me a feeling of something IMPORTANT. A game like Starfield is drowning in the Star Wars universe where you fight evil vs. good. Starfield hasn't got this. I need an important goal/mission that makes me feel I'm doing something important. Saving humanity is always a good idea in this regard. In Starfield you only do things for your self. Well, I guess some players find this ok if they're spoiled and egoistic in nature. But in general people want to do something for other people. To me it is boring doing things just for me. Yes. it can be satisfying for a short moment, but not in the big picture. Starfield simply need this 'save humanity' mission. I don't claim the idea of parallel worlds is a stupid idea. On the contrary, it's one of the main philosophical science subject of all time. The idea of countless worlds just a split second away and still unreachable is fascinating. But why travel through these parallel worlds just to explore forever? Well, if they were visible different in a lot of ways it would be interesting. But still, if I only explored these to calm my own curiosity I'd probably get tired of it because there is no value in this if you can't use it for some good deed. Fallout 4 had a good purpose for you as a player. You had to chose between the future of the Commonwealth. Good or evil? Same goes for Skyrim. But Starfield? It doesn't have a meaningful struggle to offer you. None but the endless travels through 'parallel worlds' more or less identical to each other. If the main idea was to fight the Starborn to prevent them gaining power in these worlds because they were evil and egoistic it would have given me a goal, a mission. But I have a REALLY hard time doing things just because someone thinks I should do them. I simply have to feel my adventure is VERY important, if not critical, towards other people. I need to feel I am the hero of the day." I feel Starfield is specifically DESIGNET to take as much of your time as possible. The goal for Bethesda is only this. And while playing a boring and scraped game they set up their so called 'Creations' which is supposed to earn them a lot of money for many, many years. They created a money machine. Vetra Nyx said something very wise in Mass Effect Andromeda when you first enter the Tempest: "And right now, you need people tearing down obstacles, not putting up more." PS. I played Skyrim in about 3500 hours and Fallout 4 in 7600 hours.
