No Curry is not Overhyped. He’s the Real Deal. He’s the best 3- point shooter that we probably ever see. The Man has changed the game. Back in the 90’s everybody wanted to be like “Mike” . Now this generation of young kids want to be like “Curry” They don’t care about Dunking anymore, they want to shoot 3-pointers. The way he plays ,it almost eliminates the Big Man in the Post. They are even trying to shoot 3’s too. Curry is incredible, no one could deny that. He’s fun to watch, he’s a must see T.V. Player.

Steph Curry is 100% an all-time great and a majority of fans have him in their top 10 all time now. Im not a Curry super fan or anything but I agree completely with it. He's got 2 MVPs and the only EVER unanimous MVP. He won 4 championships. He lead a team that had the most wins in NBA history, this was before KD joined. He won a championship before KD, won 2 with him, then after he left, he won another one. He also is one of the most efficient players of all time, some of his percentages rival 7 foot guys who only dunk. Also has the most 3-pointers ever, by a huggeeeee margin. He's the best off-ball movement player of all time. He is an elite playmaker, elite shot maker for literally every single spot on the floor. 3, halfcourt, midrange, paint, free throw, every single spot. And imo he has the 2nd or 3rd best handles of all time.
@tplouffe9226
@tplouffe9226 Жыл бұрын
Also I should mention before people come in here and hate on Steph saying he's a "bad defender", that is simply not true. Every year he's been in the league he has improved each season and the past like 3 seasons he's been a great defender, before that he was only good. It was because of how short and slim he was, but he bulked up some muscle and can now hold his own against players. But the biggest thing of all that helps his incredible offense and defense, is IQ. He is an on court coach, he is constantly telling everyone where to go and what to do on defense and he is elite at defensive on court coaching. Same with offense, he will run by people, give little nods, eye looks, points, etc. while still running around the floor nonstop and he will get someone or himself open, he just know's what to do. He's been in the league for 14 years, so he know's all of the in's and outs. A vast majority of players do not ever understand it to his level, no matter how many years they've been in the league. Also I'm not sure if youre aware but there is only 1 player in NBA history who can hit halfcourts as precisely and consistantly as Curry, and its only Steph Curry. No one else can do it or has done it, in fact a normal 3 pointer was frowned upon until around the 90's, even then, if someone took more than 2 in a game and missed, they were benched for the rest of the game, that lasted a while until Steph Curry in the ealry 2010's showed everyone how 3-pointers can be utilized in winning basketball a lot more, he is solely responsible for the popularity of 3-pointers we see today. Everyone said a team with a shooter as a leader can never ever win a championship, and then he did, and then everyone changed thier minds on shooting 3's. Damian Lillard is the only other player who can almost rival Steph's range and consistency, but can't quite. Luka and Trae have extended ranges, but are no where near as efficient as Curry. He is an anomaly.

Some people like to say Curry is not a "point guard" because he doesn't have as many assists as some of the all-time greats, and is a "shoot-first" guard (or combo guard). Well, to that I say: 1. Curry often passes the ball up the floor if he sees someone in better position, and then that person passes for an assist. There is no "hockey assist" in basketball so Curry doesn't get credited for good ball movement. 2. When you are the best shooter of all time, without exaggeration, calling your own number to take the shot isn't hogging the ball, it's just working the percentages. As an add-on to point #2, Curry has amazing off-ball movement, such that his defender is constantly losing track of him. I'm glad in your highlights there was an example of this. He's often giving up the ball, relocating, and then gets it back for a wide open shot. I think Curry does indeed play the "1" position, and should be considered among the best to ever play point. You can see from these highlights he's not exactly what I would call a bad passer.
@kodalycat906
@kodalycat906 Ай бұрын
Kudos to you...all cogent points. The highlights of his creative and impressive passes alone would make up another video. Yes, he has too many turnovers (for such an elite player/PG) and can be careless with the pass and just ball-handling from time to time, but it is clear he is top five in his handle all time (most of the jaw dropping moves earlier in his career). No other combo guard can equal him (there are few combo G's, period, because it is so hard) and no one, not even Mike, has stretched or stressed a defense so consistently. Only Kobe, really, rivals him in terms of fanatical dedication to conditioning and refinement of his craft. Finally, I agree...enough of the BS that he can't or won't play D. He is a better than average defender and definitely a better one than Westbrook (his greatest ballplaying critic - filled with so much disdain and envy!) and Westbrook has the more obvious athleticism. Ask yourself this: if both players had to guard each other, who do you think would still have legs, wind and wherewithal by the beginning of the 4th period to perform at a high level on both sides of the ball?

Yes, Curry is also the greatest free throw shooter in history. He has never changed teams, always been a Warriors. The reason he has different uniforms is because the league, particularly with his team will occasionally re-design a fresh look. Usually home is dark colorway, away is white and an away third design from city edition. As for who he is about, just like in the video, when you make a mistake, he makes you pay for it almost every time because of his ability to shoot and dribble.

That iteration of the Warriors had a mascot named Thunder. When the SuperSonics moved to OKC and became the Thunder, the Warriors could no longer use that mascot. Then once Lacob and Guber bought the Warriors from Cohan in 2010, the team desperately needed the logo change.

@@pioneered4722 exactly right. Curry was drafted in 2009. That logo was retired in 2010 when Lacob and Guber bought the team. They later brought the jersey back (kind of) in the 2020-21 season, but it said “Oakland” instead of “Warriors.” The footage of Curry wearing the thunder logo jersey in this video was from 2009-10.

Curry may not by the GOAT, but he's certainly the most interesting to watch, even more so than MJ. I am 41, and haven't followed basketball for decades. After accidentally coming across Curry in the recent Olympics, he reignited my interest in basketball. It's not accidental that this random British dude, who seems wholly uninformed about basketball, has been more impressed by Curry than by Kobe/LBJ and even MJ. The Cook is probably the most likeable basketball player ever, it's not for nothing that his shirt sales are even higher than LeBron's.

I’ve been watching since ‘92 and Curry is just as entertaining as Jordan was, maybe even more so. Jordan was unbelievable with what he could do and Curry is as well, but in such a different way. Jordan was known early to be the next face of the league. Curry was not even thought of having a chance at staying in the league let alone being the face of it. Nike was a somewhat failing shoe brand when it put all its hope and dreams into Jordan, then Nike straight disrespects Curry because they did not believe in him.

All this is about shooting… ball handling… play making… even his much- improved now very good defense- but don’t leave out his passing! His accuracy to get the ball right where another player wants to catch it , and without the player having to break stride, AND without telegraphing the pass, is just uncanny! He’s like a quarterback, his passes are so accurate. And the other amazing thing is that he’s so WILLING to pass! As accurate as he is, he’s always willing to let someone else get the shot, especially if they either need a jump start, or if they’re in position for a higher- percentage shot! Now THAT puts him over the top to rival the best super stars , I think!! He’s all about the TEAM, and NOT just his own stats!!

when Curry makes a shot in practice and he hits any part of the net on the made basket, he considers it missed shot. Swish or nothing is his motto.

He’s not near as althletic as the players you mentioned. He could never go above the rim like Mike and Lebron, but skills are unmatched. Maybe Kyrie is on that level

11:31 It may seem that way from a single vid of great plays ... but no. Curry is one of the greatest players of all-time. He revolutionized the game (for the worse?) with his 3 point shooting and has four rings. If he gets another ring the case could be made for him being the greatest point guard of all-time, eclipsing Magic (although they're completely different types of players). But better than Kobe or Bird? No. Better than Jordan? Hell no.

I think you’d enjoy watching Kyrie Irving. He’s not as accomplished as Steph is, but his ball handling is second to none. He has that ball on a string.

Steph is one of the best all time players on offense. Magic is a better pure PG and those other guys you talked about controlled the entire game, offense and defense. Steph is almost worthless on the defensive end. 1 or 2 more championships he will probably be in most peoples top 5 players of all time. (and a GREAT family man)

I'm a Dubs fan. So no, there isn't a greater player. He's 6'2" and lies about being 6'3". He once played a game in college where the opposing coach, the whole game, had 2 players assigned to him. He ran to the corner, and stood. Just stood. The game was played 4 against 3. Imagine!. His team won. His impact in the NBA was similar. Not as pronounced, but similar. Whenever he had the ball deep, they had their best defensive player on him, and a 'spy' who sorta played a lame 1 man zone. The other players spread and had a ton of open shots due to this. Your video showed when he beat the odds, but year end and year out this spacing, gravity, made everyone else great. He won a 'chip' (world championship) this way. When they got Kevin Durant it was totally unfair and usually the starters didn't even play in the 4th quarter: 2 more chips. Durant left, he won with the core and others last year. Chip. He changed the NBA. He changed college ball. He changed even High School and pickup ball, and we'll see if it's forever? I'm guessing yes, but... He changed world ball. Good report, though if you got it in you, I'd like to hear more of your impressions and not just see the clips I watched live. Other than that... Good job!
