Hi doc. You said whole grain bread has High glycemic index same as white sugar. Now I have a question that is bothering me. What are the whole grains should I eat and should I try to avoid while grain foods. Then what are we supposed to eat. Appreciate your feedback. Thanks.

Since over half of us cannot metabolize carbs well, and 90% have no idea they have a problem. I recommend minimizing all card except fiber until you have a Kraft Insulin test.

This Stevia thing is like saying using Kratom is not a good substitute for opioid addiction because Kratom is addictive! Or, what is the least amount of sugar a diabetic or sugar addict can consume before there’s a detriment! As a cancer patient- survivor, to me Stevia is the lesser of most evils, and having had SIBO and gut disbiosis in the past , I am aware there has to be an endgame. Thanks for posting!

I was eating a high-fiber breakfast cereal; didn't get things under control (weight, hba1c, etc.) until I dropped that from my diet. Then I rechecked the nutrition info. A "serving" was half a cup. No one in the history of food has ever consumed a half cup of this cereal as a single serving; more like 2 cups. So I was consuming 200+ total gms of carbs from a single bowl. I dropped the 4 S's from my lifestyle: sugar, starches, statins, and stress. Getting rid of starches was a key component to improved health.

I saw a university experiment from Washington state few years ago where as there was a study done by a university prof in the N. East somewhere. The *Medical Professor in the N. East had one of his classes do an experiment to see what spiked the blood sugar more - a Snicker bar or a slice of 100% whole wheat bread with butter. A subject was selected and many tests were done on her to verify that the test was accurate, the result - The Snicker bar spiked her blood sugar noticeably less than the bread. Then a university professor from Washington state came across this add decided to see if he could duplicate the former results. He matched all criteria exactly as what was done and - exactly the same result. I thought this was cool

There are 2 kinda sugar blockers I have heard of, make that 3: !. Various vinegars taken before and during a meal(vinegar based dips etc). 2. Cinnamon. 3. EV Olive oil before a meal and during, I presume any healthy fats or oils would work. I have experimented with these and #1 and #3 work best - I try my best to stick with a low carb intake.

Great video. I went low carb over10 years ago due to a celiac disease diagnosis. I used to bake bread every day… now we are not bread or grain people, except for a rare occasion for corn bread and popcorn, or brown basmati rice. After a diagnosis of MCAS, it threw a monkey wrench in my keto diet because for years of lots of fermented food…. We still eat a lot of vegetables. This last year it has been hard to just eat.

I am a heavy stevia user. I eat lots of fiber from fruits, vegetables, and nuts and I eat naturally fermented sauerkraut daily. I also take a separate probiotic. I am not ready to give up stevia yet. I use it in my beet juice / citruline malate drink, my pea protein drink, and in a couple of ounces of 100% cranberry juice, none of which would be very palatable without some sort of added sweetener. Does monk fruit or something else have a better track record with respect to safety and blood sugar? I use xylitol in home made chocolate, but I don't think I would use it for anything else.

Dr Ken Berry, Dr Anthony Chaffee and many others are carnivores. They say and I believe that red meat that comes from an animal is NOT bad for us at all and in fact is loaded with so many more nutrients than any plants. However, any processed meats and meat that comes from animals that are raised in unhealthy ways being fed corn and soybeans which are not natural for them will be not nearly as healthy. Eat things as mother nature provides it. The more men change food the more damaging it is for us. It is fake food that makes us ill.

I commented this elsewhere also (Dr Paul Saladino re: stevia dangers): EVERY time I go on a binge of artificial sweetener (not stevia) in the form of diet coke, or those powder packets from Wylers, Welch's, and other ones (with maltodextrin, aspartame & acesulfame), I notice for days after or longer that I Can't remember a Lot, more absent minded, very poor short-term memory. Especially my vocabulary suffers, which I notice because of my work writing. So maybe it's causing my neurons to become unable to communicate - like those gut microbes? I don't notice any gut issues, unless I have a Lot of sucralose, which I know is pretty common. They do say the gut is the second brain.

I did an experiment--one day I had zero stevia, but used honey & lots of fruit with otherwise keto food (and a few corn tortillas, like 20 - 30 grams of carbs). I was fine that night, no leg cramping. The Next day, I had a nice keto diet for lunch but two pizza slices & a diet Fresca for dinner (no stevia). What HORRIBLE leg/foot cramps later that night. Had to get up three times to take magnesium, then vinegar, then chromium & Lots of water. So my beloved pizza is my undoing. But Not honey & fruit (both fructose).

on the other hand xylitol will upregulate fructose metabolism which is awful for diabetes / cardiovascular etc. whereas stevia helps flush uric acid via your gut, which might be part of the change in gut microbiome communication they're seeing, which would be actively beneficial...

Gymnema Sylvestre works by blocking the sensation of sweetness? So wouldn't just not using sweeteners do the same thing? where you just have to get used to not getting that CRAVED sweet flavor. Or does it let you Taste the sweetness without the sweetness having the brain effects that Make you crave it?

Why keep referring to the glycemic index of foods rather than the more relevant glycemic load? You often here, for example, not to eat watermelon because of it’s high glycemic index. My boss is a Type I diabetic that has worn a Medtronic cgm for over a decade and she regularly eats watermelon with no problems to her blood sugar levels, because watermelon has a much better glycemic load rating.

You really dance around the information highway here. To earn respect of a watcher, it is better to jump right on the topic. I really hope you have done your due diligence. Microbes are creatures. They basically own this entire planet. They are on and in us the same way they are on and inside the earth. Most people eat stuff not fit for humans and the microbes do their best along with enzymes to fix us. But, people are stubborn. They continue to just dump stuff down their gut that does not belong. Think healthy and whole. Thanks

Somewhat confused on an issue - Drinking near anything with Stevia, does not the Stevia extract/liquid simply get absorbed into the bloodstream? Or liquid forms of sugar? I have also heard from Herbalists etc that Stevia and other 0 calorie sweeteners induce a spike in blood sugar levels after a few hours.?? Of note that I can find no real answers to - Any 0 calorie sweeteners used as in a bit too much sweetening caused the brain to react to this and in some form instruct the Pancreas to produce insulin.?? I have found it impossible to verify this although it is believable. I could not help myself from making these 3 replies as I believe they were important/Thanks
