I used to do this as a classical voice student for years. I still do it. It is very relaxing. And even as a 60 year old lady I have a very flat, strong, abdomen.

I believe people can do this at any age. My 78 yr old Yoga teacher did this at every class. It's more about health, fitness & muscle structure than it is about age.

The breathing techniques taught to classical voice singers are very powerful and very similar to Yogis. Also, our posture techniques. Like I said, I still use them. Very relaxing.

He says it is ancient and exercised by yogis and buddhists. I suppose they do it regularly without issues so I trust it. I used to do it a lot when I was a kid and haven't had problems. You can try it and back off if you feel uncomfortable after a month.

It's an ancient practice in traditional Indian Yog and it's called 'Uddhyaaan Bandh' and that forceful exhalation is termed as 'Kapal bhati' Both are great to heal internel ailments but should be performed with proper technique.

Frank Zane and also Arnold Schwarzenegger did this pose yes. Among many others. This is not possible for all bodybuilders, as those with the bloated bellies, due to the HGH/insuline they take.

@@itsglory2415 Many of those drug users have bellies bigger than a pregnant woman. The bubble gut is a result of drug use, specifically insulin and Human Growth Hormone (HGH)-in tandem with a high-calorie, high-carb diet. You don't get that belly from thin air.

I'm using this as a way to stretch my diaphragm. As a freediver it's important to warm up all muscles before a breath hold. My dry static apnea pb is 3 minutes 30 seconds.

The fact I am bothered with is that the western world is not giving enough recognition to yoga and making something their own which is not theirs. This is basically a valsalva maneuver which could be not available for heart disease patients and eye retina problems.

They didn't explain this, but you're probably breathing incorrectly in your everyday life. When you inhale, your belly should inflate, and when you exhale, it should deflate. That's why they said to consciously focus on your breathing. Focus on your belly. Think about breathing into your belly, and then breathe out of it. It will take you a little while to get this down since you've been doing it wrong all these years, but eventually it'll come naturally to you and become second nature.

You should really expand three dimensionally on the Inhalation, namely using the full range of Motion of the Diaphragm (full exhale First), as well as the intercostals, which expand your ribcage 360 degrees. Belly breathing is Not really helpful. Check Out the PRI.

Yes. The more you do it, the more tou will be able to suck in. I find that after I start the exhaling while bent over, hold breath, and then pull in my stomach as I stand up and lean back.

No exercise “burns belly fat”. No such thing exists. The purpose of this exercise is to strengthen the inner abdominal muscles. Abs are made in the kitchen, not in the gym.

Do it in morning Empty Stomach Maintain perfect straight poster in sitting/standing. Feel good And Drink a lot of water after done (Not immedietely)

Transverse abdominals muscle gets stronger and makes the mid section look tighter. Its not fat burning. Also his is more visible but anybody can do this. Its great for woman who have had babies cause they do all the crunches but forget the transverse abdominals that has to atrophy during prignancy.
