I have had both a Canon 70-200 2.8 IS II and the Sony GM 70-200 2.8 and love them both. I am used to shooting with them both and have shot sports tournaments before where I would shoot for 10-12 hours a day for 3 continuous days with a 70-200 on a body with a battery grip. You get used to the weight over time. I have handheld the Canon 600mm f4 lens for an Air Show before. That lens is an absolute beast and my arms were killing me at the end of the day, but I was able to get shots by handholding that those using a tripod couldn't catch due to the action being too fast.

Pierre, great video as always. Totally with you on the 70-200 for street (and for landscape also), people always assume that wider angle is better, but with wider angle you get one shot of a scene, whereas with 70-200 you can get multiple vignettes of the same scene. A place for both (if your arms can cope with carrying the 'holy trinity' of f2.8 lenses😂)

tips from a guys that shoots 150-500mm in an APS-C with a 2x TC: fill up your frame with the subject. you are carrying that weight for the closeup power of it. so zoom it in. the cityscape is secondary. focus on people, feelings, actions, poses. get things that other lenses can't show.

Without having watched your video, let me answer your title question in a special way: I took my best street fotos with a Nikon D810 and a Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 Sports. AF was lightning fast, perspectives incredible, and pictures tack sharp. By using it with a riffle-belt type of strap mounted on the lens, I could walk with it for hours and getting it up in less than a sec for the shot. Ony one disadvantage which was funny sometimes: wherever I showed up people where starring at me and then searching for the celebrities they suspected me to hunt down with this monster of a setup. And, groups of young ladies out for some fun, threw themselves into posing assuming I was shooting for a magazine or doing model scouting.

The 24-70 is probably the best option. I've shot with a 70-200, a 50, and 35mm. I find that there's a disadvantage when you start off at 70mm. I find myself always being too close for a shot, being that your eye sees at about 30 to 35mm. That's going to be my next lens for sure.

I've been shooting nyc for a while now.. but only very recently picked up a 70-200/4. Oh man, it's a BLAST. I'd been using much shorter lenses prior. The 70-200 feels like a cheat code. The entire city is just an endless spread of microcompositions, and now I can just grab whatever I want. It's also awesome because people here often don't care what anyone is up to. The funny thing is that when I have it on my 7D Mark ii, and battery-grip, the weight is so well balanced that I can carry it all day without any problem. You still get a 70-200 on crop sensors, but it’s a cropped image.just as an important note because many mistake the crop factor as having effects on the actual lens behavior like compression etc
@kannonfps3 жыл бұрын
@@Seitenwerk you do understand that a 35 on a crop sensor will give you the same "field of view" as a 50 on a full frame right ? that's why we use the crop factor, the result you'll get from a 85mm on a crop and the result your'll get on a full frame are not the same you just have to test it yourself take a full frame and a 50 and take a crop and use a 35 apart from distortion and compression the field of view won't change and that's why we use the crop factor to know which lens to use to get certain result but yeah a 35mm stay a 35mm it's just that the sensor cannot render as much info as a full frame

Merci 😉

Hi Pierre from Paris. I shot street photographie a couple of time with a Panasonic G9 and a 75 f:1,8 Olympus (150mm equivalent) and it's pretty pleasant. But usually I use a 50mm, the perfect focal distance for me.

I noticed that street photography is predominantly guys in early 20's to early 30's. And mainly Sony cameras lol.

I left a small "Thumbs Up." It was the only one I could find. :-(

Interesting way to customize your lens, why did you tape it that way? Is there a specific reason?
