Even though this is a chemical sunscreen, the LA ROCHE POSAY ANTHELIOS UVMUNE 400 HYDRATING CREAM SPF50+ 50ML is really good for me as someone who puts in eye drops many times a day since it’s very water resistant. It was also tested under Opthamological control

I agree with using mineral sunscreen instead of chemical sunscreen to reduce the likelihood of getting irritation of eyes. This irritation causes an involuntary blink response. Why would I cover the eye lids with sunscreen when I wear wrap around sunglasses and a sun hat (prevent light from coming in above the top of the sunglasses)?

I always applied sunscreen on my eyelids and often it would get in my eyes and BURN horribly. I would just stand still in the middle of the street moaning from pain 😢 But my SS doesn’t have any of the chemicals you mentioned… I wonder what that could be. It’s mineral too (titanium + zinc) My natural tears would get it out in a couple of minutes and I would feel fine though. 🤷‍♀️ Don’t have enough money to buy the fancy creams mentioned in the video :(

You said in the video not to panic if you get sunscreen in your eyes. I have a couple questions. On the European Chemical Agency website it states that Ecamsule SX(Terephthalylidene Dicamphor Sulfonic Acid) can cause serious eye damage. Do you think that’s something to worry about and not apply a sunscreen around the eye with that ingredient?

Thank you ❤ what about if ive tried all mineral sunscreens, LRP anthelios line, avene mineral, powder around my eyes, etc etc etc and nothing works to prevent spf from stinging and burning and clouding my vision and giving me headaches? Even if i apply almost no spf close to my eyes, it gets in there. Its ridiculous. i cant get anything to work and im afraid of damaging my eyes from irritating them daily. I only use spf that has ingredients that are safe for dry eye disease and im still affected. Even if i set with powder. What am i doing wrong...

Chemical filters are not that safer than mineral, most reactions and burning sensations caused by preservative systems that have to be done for chemical filters to stabilise and sustain the efficacy of the filters. There have been a few studies showed that the true allergy reactions, and contact dermatitis caused by chemical filters are just less than 0.2% of studied subjects (more than 500 people). Zinc oxide mostly has to be coated in silicons to stabilise because Zinc by itself is extremely non inert (a misconception that zinc oxice is inert, ask a cosmetic formulator and you'll see), one thing wrong will break all thing down and bring up the pH to 7 when not formulated correctly, or tested for shelf-life comprehensively. The common preservatives used in mineral formulas may be not as irritating (not necessarily used less in number, because every formula is unique. I've seen a few chemical formulas have just 2-3 preservatives, waaaaaay less than your typical skin healing, skin renewing and anti-aging skincare products and they don't burn your eyes, it's about the characteristic, potency, technique and so so so so many other principles. There is no easy way to break it down) but the filters themselves are not the problem 99% of the time. Things can be tested on 1000 people and 1001st person would have their eye burnt. There is no fine line to this, only correct information and educational approach to how we should look at things in this matter.

The Supergoop one is just such an awful product, one of the worst I've ever used. It doesn't sink into the skin, you can use only the tiniest amount, which I'm sure doesn't give you enough sun protection, otherwise you just end up with a cake-y white layer sitting on top of your skin. I'm light complexion and it's too light on me. And you can't use anything under it (like serum or moisturizer), on top of it (concealer) or even near it (like other SPF for the rest of your face) as it reacts with everything- immediately starts pilling, flaking, and moving around. It doesn't sting the eyes though..The only worse one is The one for the eyes from Hello Sundays, very similar problem, but it's thicker and dries up in the fine lines on top of that. I'm still searching for a good product for myself, as unfortunately I experienced eye stinging and/or watering with all of the mineral sunscreen I've tried so far.

Honestly that's what I try to do bc even if I got one that didn't burn and used some sort of makeup powder to set it and stop it from sliding into my eyes, there's still a possibility I will accidentally rub my eyelid or under my eyes and then end up burning my eyes. It's too risky to put it right under the eye and on top 😬😬 maybe under the eyes is okay.
