I had the same kind of debate about Texas with a roommate of mine, I think they were also from South Carolina. What was really weird to me was the fact that Florida is also supposedly not a part of "The South," despite it's positioning (never did get an answer as to what section of the US Florida is lumped in.)

Texas is southwest obviously, what I'm more concerned about is Delaware and Maryland both being considered south???? They are more north than south.

There South The West is the pacific states (california oregon and washington) The west is different from the south west ( Four corner states plus Nevada) I would know im from the south west
