If you only know 'Dude looks like a lady' from Mrs. Doubtfire you should react to Aerosmith singing it. Walk this Way by Aerosmith rocks too including the version they did with Run DMC. Dudes dressing as women for comedic purposes has been going on for a hundred years and the fact that people in different groups are now deciding it's controversial or offensive reminds us how uptight the world is right now. Hopefully folks will learn to relax and get along soon.

If you want to see one of the funniest black comedians that dressed like a woman, you have got to check out Flip Wilson playing his recurring female character "Geraldine" from his 1970's hit variety show!! Geraldine had attitude, and there wasn't anything degrading about it, Flip Wilson was just flat out hilarious playing Geraldine!! We absolutely loved him when I was a kid, and everyone went around saying Geraldine's most famous line, "The devil made me do it!" I think it's hilarious when men dress up like women for comedic purposes!! 🤣🤣🤣
@debbiehanson9201
@debbiehanson9201 11 ай бұрын
I think men impersonating women is like a lot of things---sometimes it's offensive and sometimes it isn't. Way back in the early seventies, the comedian Flip Wilson did a female character named Geraldine Jones. The great actress Bette Davis told him that generally she hated men pretending to be women because they always made women look weak and silly, but his Geraldine was strong and funny. He told her that he was simply imitating all the strong, funny women he grew up with, so to him, that was just what he knew women to be like. You can probably find Flip doing Geraldine on line--she was hip and sassy and strong, and she wore up-to-date fashions (for the time). Nothing prissy or weak about Geraldine at all, and as a result, she became one of his most famous, most beloved characters.

I can totally relate to gettting sick and tired of folding, and refolding, shirts and sweaters. Several Christmas' ago I worked at Target over the holiday season. i worked many diifferent departments, but usually they put me in women's clothing. My main task was to keep the shirts and sweaters on the tables neatly folded and displayed.. I tell you what, by the end of my shift I was so tired of folding shirts that I wanted to scream. Just quite literaly scream. And it always infuratiated me how none of the customers cared about refolding clothing items after looking at them. They would simply pick it up and then leave it on the table crumpled. I realize I was the one being paid to keep the displays straight, not the customers, but it still seems like common curtesy to do so. I now see to it to leave shirts neatly folded whenever I go clothes shopping because I realize how aggravating it can be for the sales associates.

@@dont7913 I think I made it totally clear in my comment. I found it super aggravating that custmoers left the sweaters and tshirts on the tables a complete jumbled mess. I emded up finding it rude and disrespectful. Iit only takes a second to refold a shirt after someone has looked at it. But you have to havd had a job working in retail clothing to understand the frustration. Maybe you've never worked retail? If not you can count yourself very lucky.

Goes back a bit farther than that, but for different reasons. In most of the ancient world, women weren't allowed to be part of theater troupes. These ancient performances would most likely have men portraying the woman's role. There's a good chance that the Globe Theater's first production of "Romeo and Juliet" was actually "Romeo and Romeo".

The brothers did indeed unalive their parents. They claimed that they did it because they feared he would unalive them to conceal the fact that he'd abused them. That didn't quite explain why they also unalived their mother, which may be one reason why they were convicted. The mention of someone's thing getting cut off was a reference to John Wayne Bobbit, whose wife Lorena removed his penis after he allegedly raped her. It was successfully reattached, and she was acquitted on grounds of temporary insanity. It was a strange time. but then it always is.

I was growing up in the 90s, and this SNL crew is who I grew up with. In regards to them dressing as women, on the one hand, it was the art. They were playing roles, and butchering it on purpose, portraying an exaggerated young woman. There were several women in the cast, and none of them could have portrayed these roles better. On the other hand, the time period was about tearing down barriers. They were also really young and impulsive and didn't care. They were all trying to leave their mark on the industry.

Back in the 1960s, Milton Berle often dressed in drag on his television show. Flip Wilson's character, Geraldine, is iconic. From what I understand, much of the recent controversy arose from allegations that some men (mostly black) have been required to wear dresses in public as part of an initiation into an elite and secretive society that will ensure their success in the entertainment industry. Some of the leaders in this alleged society have also been linked to criminal activities. This includes some top tier black celebrities. All this is on the net. You'll have to judge for yourself.
