I heard their version of Centuries and it fascinated me. Other stuff they've done: Marwan is in Egypt, Tomi in the Czech Republic, Peter and Bobby are in the US. They did a group of 4 Disney video and thought they would get together in the Czech Republic but Marwan's visa was not accepted. He had the lead in the first song Arabian Nights and he had to find a place (Saharan desert), camera crew, dancer, set up communications. For the 2nd video, Be Prepared lead by Tomi, Marwan was heard a bit but not seen (their manager Caspar Fox filled in Marwan's part). Gaston lead by Peter found a magic picture frame for Marwan, and the final video is Friend Like Me lead by Bobby. It's a great series.

The Bass Gang members usually record their parts separately. The guys each can arrange and produce, plus have a couple of great audio and video mixers. Meetups for group recording are expensive, but the Bass Gang is working on it.

They do live in different countries and at the point of this video hadn't even met in person, now Arabian Nights came after and they STILL hadn't met each other until filming the video for AN.... and no one in the band has met Mrawn in person yet as he couldn't get out of Egypt. So yeah they have some restrictions and have experienced some growth.

This arrangement is the brainchild of Marwan and comes from their previous album Bass Gang no 2, before their Disney works. Marwan is typically known for editing his videos to show how many voices are in the mix as well as using belltones in his arrangements. This was from the year before they tried to meet up together.

No, that’s Peter Barber. LOL . I don’t see the resemblance, but you’re not the first to think so. He’s a great guy-has a reaction and analysis channel that also has some solo music (all of the members have solo channels here on KZbin and/or TikTok). They did film with green screen because they live all over the world. Marwan (the guy you see at the end with the green screen) lives in Egypt, Tomi (the one who looks most beat up) lives in the Czech Republic, Bobby (I think) is in Boston, and Peter is in Arizona.

I think Peter just bought a house in Los Angeles. He’s been on the move a lot this year so it’s hard to keep track.

@@janetdw it’s in Phoenix. I was kind of surprised by that-not sure about the opera scene there.

Thanks for returning to The Bass Gang! They live in 3 different countries. They weren't all together in Arabian Nights either, only 3 could get together in Czech Republic . Marwan was separate in Egypt, because of visa problems. Bobby Waters of the Bass Gang is in several of Jonathan Young's videos. Have you reacted to Jonathan? He's incredible, too. Please add him to metal wednesdays. Thanks

The Bass Gang does most of their work "remotely" (i.e., with each of them in a different location) for logistical reasons, because they live on three different continents. They _met_ on the internet. Their first couple of albums leaned rather heavily into that, and they multi-tracked themselves quite a lot, because they had no expectation of ever performing live together anyway. More recently, they have started to explore some arrangements with less multi-tracking, particularly with their Disney-cover album. And they *are* incredibly talented, but you're not wrong about this specific performance. I mean, it's not *bad* by any means, but could it have been better? Yeah, it could have. Three of them were in the same location for the Arabian Nights video, but I imagine they had already recorded the audio, separately, before the trip. Trying to do all the audio *and* the video during the trip, would have made the trip quite a bit longer and therefore probably more expensive, and they're just starting to get to the level, in terms of financial support, where they can afford to do the travel at all. And yes, Arabian Nights is one of their better performances.

It’s so exciting. Bobby actually lives not too far from me. I have never met him in person, but he lives about one hour or less than an hour away from me!!! I’m sorry that I don’t know your actual name and I don’t want to just call you Arab man in the comments. I hope it’s not offensive to you. I’m visually impaired, but I listen to your videos anyway and I’m new to the channel. I know a little bit about Peter actually. He is a trained opera singer. I have a recommendation. Please, pretty please react to hide and seek if you have not done so yet.😊 10:56

I love the arrangement, but I agree the actual performance is a little ‘robotic’ because of having to do everything to a click track.

The four Bass Gang Members have still not all met each other face to face. Only last year's EP had 3 of the 4 were in the Czech Republic to film those videos.

Underwhelming? It's your honest opinion, you gave a valid reason, and I respect that. But there's no point reacting to them again, if not recording in the same room ruins it for you. They've never all recorded in the same room. Even Arabian Nights had only 3 of 4 together. It's not easy for an Egyptian young man to get a tourist visa to European countries. It sucks. They enjoy working as a group, so they find ways around the distance and politics, and they do a damn good job. But you won't like the results, so this isn't the group for you. Thanks for trying.
