I dunno, both are pretty severe global catastrophes! Okay, so the kids at 8:20 and 13:10 are a reference to Seita and Setsuko from Grave of the Fireflies. In the movie, they end up living outside for awhile (hence why they have camping equipment at 8:20), because their parents die during WW2 (which is why the second reference to them being lost kids looking for their parents is surprisingly dark humor).

They took the theme from the first game, and slowed it down so it sounds very sweet, like how we look back on fun memories that we had as children knowing that even though we’re adults and can’t relive those moments, we at least got to experience them.
