Well Mr. Seidule, I can personally say I’m leaving the Army after 22 years because of your “great” leaders. Your view. From my view, The leaders are the worst I have seen in my entire career. They left us with a bad exit from Iraq. They left us embarrassed, bruised and battered with additional casualties leaving Afghanistan. They are enforcing diversity standards that create hostilities in the working environment. These same standards ensure that not the best, but the “right type” of people are filling leadership roles (see my first statement). You are a great example of the poor leadership if you believe the military is in a better leadership position than ever. We don’t have Generals that make decisions based off right/wrong. They make decisions based off of political motivations and job potentials/opportunities post military. These leaders care about themselves and not the troopers they are leading. You Sir have failed us if you served 36 years and ensured the current leaders fell in behind you. We all need to go back to being the same color “green.” Get rid of DEI and we will see eachother as such. Keep pushing DEI and we will see eachother based off of skin color, sexual preference, gender identity, wondering if someone was placed into a position to fill an agenda, and not for being the best and brightest. This creates additional distrust in combat and in the everyday military-working environment. YOU failed us. YOU Mr. Sedule.

Not sure why they had him in for this question. He spent his last several years in the Army as the Professor of History at the United States Military Academy. He was not with the rank and file. While he held commands up to a Battalion CDR in his early years, he was teaching at West Point starting around 1994 or so until his retirement in 2020. That is 25 years away from the troops. No doubt he interacted with the rotation of officers and NCOs who rotate through West Point for teaching and mentoring positions, this isn't the same as being with the regular units. Whatever he is testifying to his things he is being told or spoon fed and not anything he is experiencing first hand....unlike the others who were testifying.

@@chavvy9074 Ya but a lot of that is from woke culture you could say, ie being soft on youth nowadays.. Like telling kids that being obeise is healthy/ok *is* total woke stuff. I never said that kids don't want to join the military cuz there's too many minorities lol, so I dunno where your coming from with that.. There's lots of trickle down effects from the culture occurring in the usa.. From teaching kids that the usa/capitalism/west is evil, spread of contempt for traditional American values and diminished appeal of military service in favor of other alternatives, all backed by many parents or former service members telling their kids not to join anymore because of where things are heading. Just an over all sense of being less patriotic. Not to mention most young people who plan on joining usually take steps to make sure they're ready to pass things like basic/boot.. And like you said its not about young adults who don't want to serve with minorities.. But being that a large majority of the pot of recruits in usa tend to be white/male (due to demographics being majority white and the historical nature of military focused towards men) of course some might be discouraged less to join when they hear better positions might be given out based on the merit of their skin color or gender. It's all a recipe to get even less recruitments.

Woke = Critical Consciousness. Critical consciousness is the core of social justice teaching as it is understood within the Critical Theories. It is a heightened awareness of the world and the power structures that shape it. Being Woke means viewing society exclusively through the critical lenses which sees the world only in terms of unjust power dynamics (oppressed/oppressor) and the need to dismantle problematic systems as an activist. That is, it means having adopted Theory and the worldview it conceptualizes. Under “wokeness,” this awakened consciousness is set particularly with regard to issues of identity, like race, sex, gender, sexuality, and others. The term originated in Portuguese as conscientização from the popular post-Marxist Brazilian activist and educator Paulo Freire, usually deemed the father of critical pedagogy (that is, the application of critical theories to the theory of education). It is an evolved Hegelian/Marxian religious cult that hides as human rights, politics, science, art and culture. “A quiet revolution can be dispersed throughout a culture over a period of time to destroy it from within. Mass psychology and media can break the traditions, beliefs and morals and the will of a nation so there is no possibility of resistance. Socialism is precisely the religion that must overwhelm Christianity. In the new order, Socialism will triumph by first capturing the culture via infiltration of schools, universities, churches and the media by transforming the consciousness of society.” -Antonio Gramsci (The Prison Notebooks 1929-1935) DEI: Diversity is an excuse to install political officers (commissars). Equity is a rebranding of socialism; an administration that enforces equal outcomes at the expense of merit. Inclusion is to censor and purge anyone that disagrees with them. "The point of DEI is to destroy your organization from within and turn it into an ethno-communist asset by slowly breaking and replacing the institutional culture via Critical Theory. It's crucial to understand that the Left operates strategically, guided by a framework known as 'dialectical political warfare'. They use our vocabulary but not our dictionary." -James Lindsay Listen to James Lindsay's 28 min talk at the European Parliament for the best summation of the situation in the West and the Woke cultural revolution - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hYe9gYyHiJaXfKMsi=fWjyBS_Fp08ts8-z

Im 58 years old, retired Air Force and feel the last generation of parents failed the eligible recruits by lowering standards and by accepting mediocrity. It poisoned this generation. Why would they give up their "entitled" status to conformity even with the lowering of standards and maximum age changes to increase recruitment? I grew up in a time when we learned to tie shoes before kindergarten rather than resorting to velcro. We knew how to read a tape measure and tell time on an analog clock. We signed paychecks in cursive. We knew what spackling was by 8. We had pick up games and didn't rely on parents to drive us to practice...we ran there. Not everyone received a trophy and we kept score! We knew how to give change back when someone gave us a few cents over. We played outside and drank from hoses. We actually developed social skills through personal interaction rather than hiding behind social media walls. We earned enough money to buy a beater car and were proud to have it. We weren't handed a new car at graduation. We knew what patriotism was at an early age and many of us served for that reason alone to preserve and protect the right for this generation to have the creature comforts they enjoy. And we adapted quickly to technology and still outwork this generation! Tough love and a competitive spirit fosters teamwork and good morale. We need to stop the weak ass excuses and be real parents and mentors! We spend more time on being PC. There is a reason why only 1% serve because they are made of the character to be combatants. Let's stop dropping the bar and get back to grass roots military! We have only ourselves to blame for this predictable outcome!

So I spent 12 years, active and reserve, in the US Navy (aviation). This was back in the late 70s through the early 90s. We didn't hold the US air farce in very high regard then, and I doubt if anyone in the US military holds it in very high regard now. I was active USAF from 2001-2021. I retired as an E-6, because I wouldn't play the political games required to ascend to the senior NCO tier. The rot isn't unique to the AF. It is ubiquitous amongst all branches of our armed services. As far as the AF being held in high regard among the other services, it would depend on who you are talking to. Special operations, and front line infantry types enjoy the close air support provided by a USAF A-10 Warthog, or a AC-130 Spectre gunship. I've heard them praise the AF. Downed pilots, and the wounded probably have good things to say about AF Pararescue. I worked with all the different services during my two decades in uniform. We all made fun of each other, but when it really counted, we had each other's back. I refueled aircraft for a living in the AF. I will admit, out of all the services, the Navy was the hardest to work with. Many times our regulations conflicted with Navy's. My last deployment was in 2017 in North Africa. Our Air Base had Army personnel, and drones. USAF logistics, civil engineering, and security forces. We had a Marine force recon detachment. We also worked several times with USN Seals. I was there for 7 months, and we all integrated relatively easily. The global war on terrorism changed how the different services viewed each other. Overall, the camaraderie between the services during my time was a net positive. My view was, it didn't matter what branch was opposite of any US service members name tape, we are all Americans. We all volunteered to Support and Defend The Constitution.

Naval Aviators have never worked well with the Air Force politically. You can see it in every acquisition debacle forced by McNamara trying to make them use the same planes. Both think they are better than the other and only their issues are important. It’s a bit different for the Army because the Air Force comes from the Army Air Corps and Army Air Force of WW2 and there’s not a ton of overlap in mission between the two.

As if members of the AF don’t look down on the other branches. What your seeing in media is simply “fear mongering”. Yes the PT standards have been reduced, and yes the AF has gotten soft. However, I’ve been in 6 years now and the AF is not even remotely woke. No one talks about politics at the work place. People go in, do their job and leave. Whatever you see on the news or whatever personal accounts you hear is minuscule. I haven’t even seen a single “transgender” person in person in the AF. Whenever I see people complain and whine I wonder if they just sit on a tv screen all day and conclude that’s how the world works. And the concern with diversity is laughable. I’m a maintainer on fighter jets. And one thing my peers and I all over the flight line can conclude is that we’ve around 2 minority fighter pilots our entire careers. 99% of AF pilots are still white and they’ve been pushing diversity for years now. The biggest beneficiary of DEI are “white women”. No they aren’t lowering the standards. They fly just fine.

Recruiting people into our military for the wrong reasons isnt going to change anything for the better. Its the same arguement people use to say that this administration has more people going into jobs and universities now more than ever. Well that wont matter if the jobs arent done effeciently and the universities arent teaching effectively. You could have 30 people working in 1 mcdonalds it wouldnt matter if they cannot do so effeciently. Its not simply a matter of numbers. The numbers and statistics help express or prove the points being made. They can still be twisted to cause more harm than good depending on the intentions behind their use. Example: I could argue that we should stop using all motorized vehicles in our country because they cause a lot of harm. Than use the statistics that there are more people killed or harmed in vehicle accidents compared to shark attacks causing harm per year. That would be a horrible statistic to use and end up prompting our nation to digress so much further causing much more harm than the accidents do. The reason being there are many reasons vehicular accidents occur and one statistic (shark attacks) is not encountered as often as the others. The statics dont match the question at hand. The amount of progress we would lose and issues to arrise from removing all vehicles would most certainly spark backlash. As we are currently seeing. Many people are frustrated over how the green energy policies have ruined how well our economy can function. When the turbines and rivers freeze in the winter and people have no means of producing power. When the stores cannot get stocked fast enough and theft is at an all time high due to crime being ignored people cannot get their products they wish to buy. So im sick of hearing these weak excuses and prompts for DEI and woke policies. They dont have any true merit and just divide us further. They are political methods of gaining support and furthering their political agendas. Keep them out of our businesses and military. We are THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! We work best UNITED NOT DIVIDED!! Its right there in the title people. Stop trying to side track progress with every little thing. Your ruining it for everyone.

Today's addition to _Pinfold's Dictums:_ If you want to stand proudly behind your goal, call it a quota. If you're afraid to own up to your rigid quota, call it a mere goal.

I'm a Hispanic in the Army, so I don't have a dog in this fight in so far as me being discriminated against (I'm not). That said, this crap turns my stomach. As a country, we're supposed to be past this. Race should NOT be a consideration in hiring, promotions, retention, or any other facet of our military. If ALL of our pilots end up being purple-eyed Innuits from Alaska because they happen to be the best at it, SO BE IT. Racist policies like racial quotas destroy morale and breed resentment and division, and no military branch can afford any of that.

The main reason why 'diversity' initiatives fail is ironically because of human diversity. At both individual and group levels. Even when people are given the exact same opportunities and options, they make different choices and achieve unequally. Why? Because of diversity. 😂 5 children raised under the same roof, by the same parents, with the same rules, will end up with different careers, incomes, and lifestyles. Sometimes drastically. You can't even achieve equality of outcome amongst siblings... yet people expect it across genders, nationalities, ethnicities, cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, etc. Ridiculous. A complete pipe dream and an affront to fairness, liberty, and dignity.

The US does not have the best military in the world. You keep repeating this as if it's true, it isn't and never has been. The Russians have the best military in the world and deep down the US knows that and it's been that way since the days of the USSR. I mean even that animal LBJ who sent so many kids to their untimely deaths in Vietnam was unable to defeat the NVA. The excuse now is that "O we decided to pull out of Vietnam." Well, if you want to call it that then fine but the facts are that even with all US air support, bombings, Hueys all over (Bell made a fortune), agent orange, Napalm, more than 58000 men died even considering that the US murdered more than 2 million Vietnamese, they still kept coming. If I could use an analogy to explain the Vietnam war it was like being in a boxing match with a fighter that you keep pounding and no matter how hard or how many times you hit him he just keeps coming after you. That's what the Vietnamese were like.

The question should be asked to all these pilots tank drivers people that run these ships for our safety here in the United States of America how many people need to die before you do away with dei just a question nobody is willing to ask and why do we have to pay these pilots twice the amount that we would pay a regular White p pilot that's all I'm saying a pilot is a pilot regardless of your damn RACE basically I preferred the most qualified person in all federal government military organizations not just a dei higher

Point to a single person in military / government that is competent......... never mind the "most qualified" If you want to make something better, you have to have an accurate understanding and a fact filled start point. Waffling pish with a false understanding creates more pish.
