I owned a 2015. Had it for 5 years until a traded it in to buy a Cadillac. Those backseats have NO room. The passenger seat had to be moved forward to fit our Graco car seat in the back, so if I had a friend who was any taller than 5’6” riding with me, then they’re riding in the back because their knees will be in the dash. The performance was very lackluster, for a turbocharged 4 cylinder..especially if you ran air con on those hot summer days then I had minivans and 90s Buicks outrunning me under normal acceleration getting on the highway, while my little Sonic was pumping its guts out just to reach 70 up the on ramp. So make sure you have plenty of room before pulling out with AC on. 😂 It wasn’t a bad car overall because it took me everywhere I wanted to go, but it needs a refresh and that 1.4 and 1.8 needs an overhaul. There are better, more powerful options that offer the same things for what GM is charging us for this. I love this color though.

I paint and clean for a living and can fit a 6ft ladder, ALL my cleaning stuff, tools, a 60#dog, and painting supplies nicely. I also fit a used dishwasher, granted I only had cleaning stuff with me that day so it was in the front seat. I also drive about 70-80 miles daily due to where I live and it gets good gas mileage. I am kinda bummed bc I was the only one in my area, like a 70+mile radius that has this car but now I have a twin, same color and everything 🙄🙃 I do wish it had better storage up front though. I had a Mazda 3 and the glove boxes were HUGE. It's also hard to fit 2 route 44 drinks in the cup holders in the middle, even 1 is difficult but manageable. 2013 Sonic LT Turbo sedan was my first brand new car, that I got in 2013, and I loved it. I've come a long way since then, but I don't forget. It was actually destroyed a year later by a Trailblazer hauling an empty trailer that jackknifed into me.

It's both. A bargain because you get a very decent sub compact for the money with a 1.4 Turbo to boot. But a bust because stupid GM didn't make it a world car to be made and sold globally. You cant make a profit off subcompacts in North America if the costs to make and sell the car is not amortized by global sales. GM will soon discontinue the Sonic.

I’m seeing a bust. $21k is steep for a car in this class. You’ll definitely pay under $20k if you go with one of the Korean brands. The Honda Fit is probably the best in its class. Toyota also has the Yaris that’s good for a first time buyer. Chevy is catering to the ladies with the shade of blue that they introduced. It’s great of you to include these kind of cars in your reviews. It’s impressive how you can review a Ferrari one day and a Chevy scooter the next. 🙇 Excellent job once again 👍

I love my 2020 Sonic LT RS Premier. I traded my 2017 LT RS Hatchback to upgrade to the 2020 Premier. Both Sonics are/were very reliable. Two complaints I have is that the driver's armrest feels like a 2X4 piece of wood (I cannot use it) and the gas mileage could be a little bit better. Believe or not, sometimes my 2017 Camaro RS gets better mpgs than my Sonic on the same route to work. I only use the Sonic on weekends and when I put the Camaro away for the winter.

I almost got a Fiesta too when I got my '13 Sonic RS but Ford wasn't giving the same discounts that Chevy was at the time. @nodak814 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Admittedly I'm biased since I'm a Ford guy, but I never understood how anyone could choose a GM vehicle when they're made so cheaply, especially the interiors. I currently own a Chevy HHR that I got for a steal, and it has the WORST interior ever.
@Stressless20234 жыл бұрын
@@nodak81 To be fair, no other car from that era had a cheaper interior than the Chevy HHR lol my mom has a 2010 and every surface in it is hard touch with jagged edges and crude materials, it's completely obvious that GM built them to a price when you sit inside... It's been reliable though, but she did have to replace her timing chain once (like an $800 job)

I own a 2017 rs. After getting made fun of for having it and getting into cars myself, I can come to a conclusion that it is 100% garbage. It’s a joke of a car, only 50k miles and I had to replace the water pump, on of my coolant housing busted open in a Chick-fil-A drive through, and I have a massive squeaky noise whenever the air is on… I hate my car and I can’t wait to get the mustang I am saving for.
@bluesky53845 ай бұрын
Yeah seems like either your Sonic craps out at 50k or 150k miles. Either way it sucks and the majority of owners report replacing lots of parts that they shouldn't have to do early into its life.
