Had the Yaris iA for a couple years and........ I miss that dopey slow car. I had just as much fun with it on the street as I did with my (former) 17' Mustang GT and 17' Camaro SS. The body roll. The peppy engine. The feeling of a nimble 2,300 lb car that, at best, puts down around 87hp to the wheel... It's the kinda car you can fling around corners, drive aggressively while averaging 40mpg, and feel like you're breaking every law out there only to look down and realize that you haven't even reached the legal speed limit yet.. :D Alas, it has a look that only a mamma whale can love.

87 hp? My Scion iQ is 94 hp there’s no way the car that replaced it as the Scion iA is only 87hp especially being a rebadged Mazda 2 and a larger car. Don’t get me wrong I throw my iQ around corners and it does great on the highway especially for being only a foot longer than a Smart car so I don’t doubt the iA is just as good but there’s no way it’s slower than the iQ.

People needs to stop saying it’s slow cause it’s not a race car. I drove it to New York and back home still have gas left. When I drove my 4 cyl suv it took more gas and I had to stop for gas on my way back. I enjoy driving it more it just more responsive and fun to drive.

I have a 2010 Yaris. Not fancy, but loads of head and leg room (two big selling points for me-I'm 5'10" and am sick of being squished sitting in more expensive cars) and still going strong. My insurance rates are low (who'd want to steal a Yaris?), great gas mileage, and it doesn't spend a lot of time in the repair shop. One down point for many people, I do have to use my eyes, ears, and brain when driving it. There aren't any computer controlled gadgets. I have to check for my mirrors when passing, look behind me and around when backing up, and I have to gauge the distance of the car in front. You definitely have to use your be on your toes. The car doesn't do all the thinking and driving. I love it.

So what is the advantage of this Yaris over Mazda 2?

Get the manual! Small cars are much better when you row your gears :)

The weird thing is that about a year ago, my Uncle went with me to negotiate a Yaris. Instead we have a cheaper deal for a corolla. We were able to get the Yaris down to 19K(MRSP 24K). The dealer suggest if we want a Corolla instead, I asked how much for it compare to the Yaris. He come back later and it was 18K for us. The weird thing is that the corolla has a higher MRSP. The deal wasn't good enough for my uncle(negotiator). I think because he wanted 1% interest rate which is what he usually get because he has very good credit. We were offer 5.8% interest rate, I was buying and he was the cosigner. In the end I did my own shopping and bought a used corolla and pay it in full instead of finance . I still have it after a year.

Push to Start is standard on Yaris, but optional on Corolla. The previous gen Corolla has round air vents. The new 2020 Corolla got rid of the hand brake and replaced with automatic brake

Only hatchback? They still come in sedan version. The worst part is the manual transmission only comes with the sedans. That makes no sense to me.

here in Italy, that car is considered "too powerful" to be a first car, people who just got their license can't drive it because legally, it has too many horsepower

I have had a Porsche Boxster let me by at the Tail of the Dragon in my 04 XA (older Yaris chassis), as well as countless other drivers point me by at Palmer Motorsports Park. It's not always about how many horses you have, or what they look like. You still need a driver behind the wheel...

I'm glad they went to a more traditional design compared to the older models that had the speedometer in the middle of the dash for everyone to see. The Yaris has always scared me since I saw the IIHS small overlap crash tests. Not good! But hopefully they've improved since then.

I got the 17 Yaris iA two years. I hate how slow and small it is, but damn it's good on gas. Great first car for the city.
@aky198320013 жыл бұрын
Its a shame we don't get the Yards GR. 3 cylinder turbo makes 270 hp. Wide body, manual. This car a 18k..means financing to lease about 10k with interest rate. That outs this car at roughly $250 to $277 a month depending on milage. 0 down with only the 1st month down, tax, tag, title. Go up to the camry and pay the extra 30 a month. I don't know. This car is small lacks the get up power to merge on highways should you have two passengers. It's a good NYC or crowded city car. But In States like Texas Florida etc etc. You need a car with more substsnce. Better sound insulation and more power.

You go any slower you’ll need a golf cart. Being slow doesn’t equal safe. If you can’t accelerate to get on and off highway ramps you’ll be a danger to everyone and yourself.
