The reason the wireless charger is where it is, is because the car has CarPlay, the idea is that you’d use CarPlay to text or call via the screen in the dashboard. Therefore lessening collisions due to using a phone while driving.

There are some good reasons why this car comes loaded with features and can do it for a lot less. Aside from the massive supply chain that GM has, a lot of the features that the C8 has were on Cadillac models first. The MRC, camera rear view mirror, PDR are just a few things that started coming out in Cadillac around 4 years ago. It was a great way for them to test out the technology. That is also where suspension design started getting very refined, as they needed to compete with AMG and M cars. The resulting generation built off the Alpha chassis not only has a better and more comfortable ride than either the BMW or Merc, but manages to outclass them in handling and feedback to the driver. There is a LOT of Cadillac DNA in that Corvette and that is a seriously good thing.

Nothing related to ANY GM vehicle in production. This car started 14 years ago as a concept research project. There are several first in automotive production from any company. Advanced composites and castings are used that go beyond any exotic car being built. This car is WAY beyond any alpha chassis by a considerable amount. GM spent billions on research of this car, and it shows.

Watching this video makes me so super happy. I ordered my C8 right after they announced it. The dealership called me and said if I wanted a guaranteed spot I need to come put a deposit down right away. They had 100 emails to answer after mine. They sold out their allocation in a couple days. Ordered mine in Rapid blue which was still on constraint before the shut down. So stuck at 3000 status until they get back up and going then should get my TPW a few weeks after that hopefully. Got Z51, Mag ride, 3LT, Carbon Fiber interior, front lift, engine appearance package, Blue interior. DDE love your channel. I am in Seattle so not too far from you guys. I was up on Vancouver Island in Dec. Went to Butchart Gardens for the Christmas lighting and stayed at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel. Keep slaying it!

I completely agree that a supercharger is the way to go with the C8. However, it will not be an easy project due to the limited access to the front of the engine for the supercharger drive belt and pulleys. There is a structural beam in the car that interferes with a traditional installation, which you can see at the 9:41 mark of this video.

@@brewmagoo589 The centrifugal guys are just about there and those kits will be out in a month or two. As for the roots guys, that space problem is nothing new and the work arounds are in existence, so those kits will drop in a couple of months as well. It seems the main issue has been around the new ECU which is a bit locked down and most of the kit developers are looking for simple bolt on and flash, not ECU swap for their consumer products.

I am glad to learn that clearance issues are not as significant as I thought (I was not even considering a centrifugal supercharger) and I look forward to seeing what the aftermarket shops come up with for supercharger kits. I've heard that the ECU will be a very tough nut to crack, but I am optimistic someone will find a way to unlock it.

Damon I am a recent fan to your channel and really enjoyed your initial thoughts on the new C8 . 100% totally agree with you - bang for buck, the C8 is outstanding value for a car with such looks and performance and is priced well with reach of car enthusiasts in America.( whilst probably not here in Australia) . This model will definitely gain more respect than previous corvettes. However, the thing that attracted me to your channel was your passion for Italian supercars so hearing you say the C8 is better than the F8 Tributo is interesting. If better means cheaper, I guess it is.

Progress on GM's, why isn't there a single Ferrari in the price range of the C8? Heck I don't any Ferrari costs under $245k, progress usually means better more value for what you're paying for. None of that refers to Ferrari in any way shape or form.

@@evilformerlys4704 Its all about the branding man, Ferrari prides themselves on their prestige in auto racing and brand name. Think of it this way, why do people buy brands such as Supreme or Gucci? Do they actually make better quality clothing? No, its all about the branding and what is more flashly. Personally the reason I would still take a Ferrari or Lamborghini over a C8 is the sound, no car under $100k has a sound like those cars do, sure an American V8 sounds great but I want to hear the crazy F1 sound that the Ferrari has or the screaming V10 in the Lamborghini, they're special cars, and the price point shows that.
