I have a 19 ZR2 and I agree. I cannot figure out why GMC even makes trucks at this point. Why doesn’t Chevy just make an upscale model and get rid of the GMC line? Honestly if GMC made a ZR2 model I would’ve purchased it. Still cannot figure out why GM make so many different lines of vehicles. Their upscale version is Cadillac end it at that.

And even without that sort of brand loyalty, some people might like the looks of one, but not the other. It just makes sense for GM to broaden their appeal with multiple brands.

Update: I ended up buying this truck. 2020 V6 SLE Elevation edition, charcoal grey, so my interior isn't tan thankfully. 6 months in and I love it. I paid $29k for it, which seems like a fantastic deal considering this was $36k originally.

I’ve had my 2017 canyon for almost 3 years and I’ve had 0 issues with it. The size is great. It drives nice. I love the front end look. Good sound to it too. Decently priced.

I've had the 2019 for about ten months and love it. I feel like the driver's seat in cloth is just slightly stiff and not super comfortable.. No place for your phone really isn't great but other than that great truck!

Love the color combo. Every truck here in So cal has black interior. And the Denali only comes with black. When I look at inventory the closest SLT with that red color and brown interior is 900 miles away. I might end up custom ordering one. Want to see what the finished 2021 will look like. Gas is 4 bucks a gallon here so if they offer the 2.7 gas engine in it I may go for that as well.

Derek Robinson push to start is just a way to entice buyers lol I’m not sure but if you take the upper round piece which says start , you can see the hole to insert the key lol I know Mercedes does it but not sure about other vehicles with the start button

When I drove rental cars and did trash day. People would either rush to one of these or a RAM. I mostly drove around in one of these little things having a blast. Despite the short bed, which doesnt make it a very good trash truck. It was such a comfortable and easy to use vehicle. Felt like a normal car or SUV and not a truck at all! A few customers had come in and used cruise control on the highway or let it idle for awhile. They got around 36-40 mpg according to the truck computer. They were always out!

GM needs to upgrade the interiors of the Canyon and Colorado. I am sure it drives well with a smooth transmission. I like how you zonked that engine cover, and you are right it does look like a garbage can lid. Great review.

I currently have a 2017 Chevy Colorado which the lease is expiring and considering on getting one. There's a lot of talk of "No push start" button. Got a truck at work with a "push start" button and I don't like it. Give me a key. I'm kinda ole school like that. Wish it did have the LED lights, but I'm seriously but picking. Like the bed liner. Nice truck and will do the job for me. Not really too much different than my 2017 with the exception of some cosmetic changes. I like these V6 engines. I live in Colorado and I can accelerate over the mountain passes just fine, good control descending also. Color I'm considering is "Dark Sky Metallic" with black interior.

You can get some good deals on these trucks during truck months when they are moving their new models in. I got a 2019 All Terrain trim with the leather interior, navigation, and all that fun stuff for 35k. Which isnt to bad compared to the price when they arent on sale.

GMC is Highend of GM brand, I would expect for a GMC Canyon the truck would have Leather interior. I wouldn't extend a GMC would have cloth interior. The Canyon and Colorado is due for a massive redesign/update ASAP. Hopefully with a Keyless entry also with the 10 speed transmission and more horsepower..

Have a 2015 Canyon SLT; love the truck except for the horrid thermostat/heating component and heated seats. Can't dial in the thermostat and the heated seats should be much warmer.

Have the same truck. '15 SLT bought when they came out. I agree with everything you said. I live in Florida so thankfully I don't have to use the heat often. Wish the SLT's had dual climate control. Besides that, been a great truck for us.

Mines actually going into the shop tomorrow to have a " blend door actuator" replacement; did your 15 have the recall where they had to put a hose clamp to prevent cracking? My heat only works on 90 degrees (absolute high). Anything under that blows cold air. Like you, love the truck besides this one headache.

Went with my Canyon SLE over the Colorado. I just think the Canyon looks more "truck-like". My in laws went with a Colorado in a similar color as this truck being presented. I feel that the power is adequate and you still get smoothness and also road feel - I think the Ranger was too smooth. I absolutely love my Canyon. It drives well and I feel it's a perfect truck for people looking to get into a truck but don't need excess power or size for daily uses. Most people aren't working on ranches or farms and they drive F250s and HDs.

I have a 2018 Colorado and finally got tired of it and traded it in for a 2019 Frontier. I still can't believe I paid less for the Frontier that has a automatic transmission with a V6 while the Colorado only had a 6-speed manual with a 4-cylinder.

I had a 2015 Canyon when they first brought out this look. I loved that truck and babied it. Traded it in for a new 2019 Silverado in August last year and have had 4 transmission repairs, 2 check engine lights, and continuous issues with it. Biggest mistake of my life!

The 8 speed transmission sucks. I have the 2018 canyon and I would stay away from any 8 speed in any GM product because of tourqe converter problems.

With 310hp (5600 rpm) and 348 ft-lbs on tap (at 1500 rpm) compared to the 3.6L V6 308hp at 6800 rpm and 275 ft-lbs at a whopping 4000 rpm... I really expected the General to offer the 2.7L turbo 4 in the Colorado/Canyon for 2020... that’s the improvement both trucks need with the 10 speed transmission. That configuration in the ZR2 would be killer. But I digress .. I gotta zonk the power train and 90’s pizazz 🤣🤣🤣

The SLE doesn't make sense at that price point. You can get an SLT for the same price as a fully optioned SLE but with leather seats for free. Only reason to get SLE is if you like the black out grille.

Joe, GM just updated to an Infotainment Sys, prior was an AM Radio, to match the physical Key! Nice review. Nice bed, nice color. Zonk to the Key. I'm surprised it's a V6, I expected that 5 cylinder shared with the Hummer H3.
