Your videos ROCK !! You do a great job explaining all the details about each car you review. Regarding Port Richey Subaru they are great and very helpful, not high pressure. I just purchased my 3rd Impreza from them ( 2015, 2017 & 2020 ) I like the dealership and drive about 70 miles roundtrip from Tampa and the staff is the reason. I studied everything Subaru online before my first purchase and after seeing what a superior car it is and also the crash videos I was sold. hi. what is CVT? we are in the market for 2020 forester and never drove Subaru before only Toyota's. how do you like it?
@@TheColorchalk best thing to do is Wiki the CVT to find out about it, some people don't like them and Nissan had problems with their version, but Nissan has gone downhill recently so no surprises. My best advice is to drive one, my wife test drove similarly equipped Mazda CX-5, Toyota RAV4 (albeit the 2018), and the CRV but liked the Forester best for all round driving experience and because it came equipped with Android and Applecarplay. From my point of view the dealer offered us a good trade in for our old car, I like the fact it is non turbo, has good mpg, has very very good standard safety features, and it is made in Japan!

Subaru should give the cross bars, with the rails. I like the Outback rails better. 2 reasons why we chose the Forester over the Outback. PRICE. The Forester is about 3 grand less. And the Forester is taller. It actually has more useable space inside. The outback is longer and has a better ride, but the Forester is taller and gives more headroom and better viability. I hope that Subaru will get rid of the CVT. I would like to see a better transmission. All in all, for the price, I like the Subaru Forester. The premium with package 15 is the best deal. You get more bang for the buck. The touring has more whistles and bells, but you pay for it.

Just drove my 2020 Forester Touring on it's first road trip. Or I should say it drove me. I love mine, it's super comfortable. It does so many things you would never expect. So it takes some getting used to. You have to have the Harmon Kardon stereo. Also, although the window visors are expensive with the chrome trim to match the touring model, I highly recommend them ($200). Mine came with the oem mudflaps and rear seatback protectors. I also got ceramic window tent 20% on the driver/passenger doors and I think 70% on the back. 5% on the sunroof ($350). I also bought an auto start/stop eliminator ($100), it makes the vehicle more livable lol.

@@NeeNee_B. No issues at all so far. I have now owned it 1 year 9 months. I did end up buying a auto start/stop eliminator for it just because it annoyed me to turn it off every time I got in the car. The only other thing I don't like is the eye tracker (only on certain models I think). I have to turn it off sometimes but not always. I'm not sure why it resets back to on. But overall I still love the Forester and would recommend it.

I don't 'hate' CVT's but I do have a slightly greater preference for the traditional automatic with gears, but the funny thing is that the CVT is there to allow the engine to stay in the optimal power band for better acceleration, and to adjust the gearing for the most fuel efficient ratio when necessary; it kinda defeats the purpose to have it "shift" at specific gear ratios if that make sense. I'd just let it do it's thing and give in that I bought a CVT lol idk just seems funny to me lol. Maybe there should be an option in the infotainment to turn it on and off Great vid joe!

Bought our MY20 Forester a couple of months ago (the top of the range model you demonstrated is known as a 2.5i-S over here). I am very impressed with the new Forester which we bought after an unfortunate purchase experience with the excellent but somewhat lacking in quality control ( at least on the one we had) new RAV4 Hybrid. The Forester really ticks all the boxes as far as comfort and ride. Power wise it is a little disappointing but overall it’s adequate, fit and finish are excellent. Yes the MY 20 now have heated seats but unfortunately misses out on the ventilated seats as you advised. I like that the US version appears to have a couple of nice standard features that the Australian version misses out on like the auto dimming rearview mirror, engine cover and a rear bumper protector. Overall the MY 20 is a great medium size SUV and although I’ve only owned it for a short time ( only a bit over 1000km on the Speedo) I am very happy with it at this stage.

The dealer only deleted the PC history, did nothing to fix the problem, and does not supply the needed paperwork to prove I was there. This practice is still going on today. The service tech brags, "as long as I work here, no one will ever qualify for Lemon Law protection " Problems got MUCH worse. Full engine shut down, In for repair 10 + times, towed in 4 times. After contacting Subaru customers support, they said because the dealer refused to supply paperwork for your visits, they refused to refund my money for the Lemon the sold me. Car was traded in, because it would not work, still under warranty, still not fixed because they didn't know how to fix it. Lost well over $14,000 because Subaru does not stand behind their cars, or the customer. I liked the base 2019 Forester I rented for 2 days. I wish I had time to drive it, instead of moving house. I was impressed as is, just wish it had the alloy wheels. But if I was shopping for an SUV, I would seriously consider a Forester Sport. Subaru has some caveats with the potential head gaskets, blowing, and the CVT, but the former is usually for the high powered turbos, and more so modified, with increased boost. And the CVTs seem to shift well, and has not had much reported problems on this brand, from what I heard, so bring that myself and many others don't abuse or thrash our vehicles, it should be good to go. And I don't I tend going heavy off road, so I don't need a Toyota 4Runner TRD. Overall, Subaru would be my choice after Toyota and Honda, and right before Ford now. I would probably not consider any of the other brands, unless I had money to burn. But for any considering all the other high performance cars and trucks you feature, I would lease them, especially if you have a business and can write it off as a business expenses for your taxes. Subaru make so much great vehicles with such nice styling, and features. But my top picks would be a Forester Sport or a Premium or Limited WRX with the performance package. Yes, the turbo would be great, but I thought the Forester I drove had way enough power for what I would need for something like this. Especially when it has a CD player and auxiliary audio input jack, e en in the base model. A d the Harman Kardon system, or the optional Rockford Fosgate if still available on the Sport trim is a big plus for me.

The simulated shifts is a gimmick. Don't get caught saying this thing shifts well. Its doesn't. Not even remotely so. Its a rubber band like the rest of the CVT's. Cheap for oems to install but more expensive to service and performance wise far behind a regular Trans. Especially if your going to work it or tow anything at all. Lets call this what it is. A cost cutting measure for oems and one that helps their bottom line. A good multi-gear trans is going to cost more. But if done right, will still get you the mpg's and performance will be way better.

Try a CVT Subaru on a grassy Hill or gravel or snow. As soon as the computer sense's a wheel slip it cuts power to the wheels making it useless in a somewhat off road conditions. The CVT Subarus are not as advertised on mild off road conditions. As far as I'm concerned, CVT Subarus are road cars. I don't know what the 8.7 inch ground clearance is for since it really can't go of road. I've owned 4 Subaru's. The '06 XT went anywhere, the '15 Outback with the CVT ,that I have now, is a nice road driver and not at all off road like it's advertised. No more Subaru's for me with the CVT.

You nailed the zonks on the Forester. Too bad you didn't get a demo with the saddle brown leather interior. The color really makes the interior look more upscale. With you on the hood struts. Seems cheap not to include them on a $37,000 car. Also you have to upgrade to the touring trim to get the memory seats and rear seat fold down buttons. Both of those features come on the Honda CR-V EX-L trim for $30,000. $37,000 is getting steep for a compact SUV. Can get a KIA Telluride EX with more feature for close to the same money. What's nice about the Forester is the gas mileage, great visibility, the oversized sunroof with a solid sunshade that keeps out the light and heat, the great cargo area for the smaller size of the vehicle, the wide opening hatch and of course the symetrical AWD. Probably the sweet spot on Forester trims is the Sport if you don't mind the orange trim bits. You get a lot for the $30k. The touring trim is great if the price is not really a consideration and you just want the ultimate Forester. Hoping they bring back the XT. The last XT required premium gas. The new Subaru turbo motor uses regular. Probably would bring more buyers.

I like better the forester sport rather touring trim level or rav4 because the touring is expensive and not a good looking interior and leather seats, and the rav4 adventure costs $36k and it doesn’t have a really nice looking interior. The panoramic sunroof is not standard, it’s optional so you gotta pay more. Also the rav4 infotainment system is laggy and old and exterior not well looking. Also with the rav4 lineup, awd is optional so you gotta pay more and fwd is standard in the rav4 lineup. But the forester sport is a better option over the rav4 because it’s $29k which is cheaper than the rav4 the forester sport interior comes standard orange ascents and cloth seats and cloth seats are more comfortable than leather seats. Also the forester tailgate opens and closes quickly but rav4 tailgate takes long to open and close. Also the forester infotainment system is modern and it’s less laggy than rav4 infotainment system. Also the panoramic sunroof is standard in the forester sport and in any forester trim level. And the forester is a bit more fuel efficient than the rav4 because of forester cvt transmission. Also the forester has 8.7 inches of ground clearance which the rav4 adventure has 8.6 inches of ground clearance which means that the forester has one more inch of ground clearance than the rav4. Also awd comes standard in every Subaru vehicle and it’s cheap which awd in Toyota is optional and you gotta pay more for awd and fwd is standard in Toyota suvs except trucks. With $29k you can get the rav4 limited standard fwd, but you can also get the forester sport for $29k. So I’ll definitely I’ll buy and drive home the forester sport. Also use my forester for camping and long road trips and adventure and upgrade it into a serious off road worthy like off road trucks. Excellent job Subaru 👍🏼

I love your reviews, and I also love the sound of unbridled HP, (think Mustang GT, Hellcat etc,) However may I suggest a “zonk” for each review where we need to hear what the exhaust sounds like of every car tested. Especially when the test car; has an anemic 4 cylinder like this Subaru. Of the last several reviews the exhaust sounded virtually identical car to car. When the power plant warrants an exhaust test save that for a test vehicle with some real cajoles.

Yo Smithy, if you want an exhaust that deafens the dead then go for an after market rocket ship one. I'm past my rev head days ol' mate and am quite happy with the note from mine, crikey I can even hear what the bride's sayin these days but that's only with selective hearing! Cheers from down under...

We lease a 2016 for 3 years and no issues. My wife traded in for a Subaru ascent cause now we have 2 kids. I have a 2018 forester XT I love the turbo but I will trade it in for 2021 forester touring fully loaded like the one I have now. No issues so far . Just one of the fog lights doesn’t work. I haven’t fix it. So far 3 cars from Subaru and I’m just waiting for the 2021 forester to arrive to the dealer to do the trade. I can tell you for sure they are very comfortable interior space and the quality of the material is great. Lots of features and fresh style. I never have own Toyota because the outdated interior style and I don’t find them comfortable with the interior space. I can say that since 2018 Subaru is doing great. Also you can wait for 2021 nes cars with new tech . Hyundai Santa Fe for 2021 is going to be awesome.

I’m on my 4th Subaru. 3 Outbacks and 1 Forester touring. My 2011 forester drank oil. Two friends have had their CVT transmission fail. My next SUV will be a Rav 4 with a Regular transmission. Sorry Subaru. I would have bought another Forester but no cvt for me.

How bout a fender scoop instead? I had a shaker hood on my 1969 Ford Fairlane 428 SCJ. That needed a hood scoop, not some Old Lady CUV. Ludicrous. " Granola Cruncher's Rebel Against Hood Scoops ... and Paper Plates! - Sandy

Be very wary of the models with the remotely operating rear hatch. Mine only works when it wants to and, when it declines to do so, it gives 3 beeps when the remote control is pressed and the only way I can open it is by climbing into the back and manually operating the hatch release catch from inside the vehicle. Repeated trips to the dealer have not fixed the problem and I'm getting too old for gymnastics. There is an obvious electrical design fault somewhere! A recall may well be needed, as I don't think I'm the only owner to have such problems!
