Armando Hernandez that sounds awesome. I drive around 300 miles a week. And my Subaru ascent doesn’t get the best mpg. Luckily I could carpool with my mom but she’s also driving a 2020 forester which is better but if I could find an even better fuel efficient car that would be good. Was thinking this or a Accord hybrid.

We have owned one 2010 touring model since 2013. My wife loves it and won't drive anything else. It handles good with the bigger wheels and can beat any car off the line for about 10 feet 😆 also it gets a lot of attention from diesel trucks trying to roll coal on it 😄 they just have a hard time getting in front of me when I drive it because it is so nimble. $25 bucks to fill every three weeks is awesome too.

My 2008 Prius and I were involved in a T-bone accident (I hit a red light runner on the passenger side door) and I walked away! Airbag deployed saving me from injury. So my much loved car was totaled. It had been such a great car for me that I went out the same day as the accident and bought a new 2019 Prius Limited with all the safety technologies and the amazing 11.9 inch screen. I think no one buys a Prius because it is sexy or fast off the line but because it is well built and built to last. I got 11 trouble free years and expect the same from my new one. I must say, however, my car in red looks really great! These are the best looking Prius’s to date.

I had a Prius as a rental car a few years ago. I enjoyed it very much. I found myself watching the eco gauge trying to use as little gas as possible. It was like a game to see how high I could get the average miles per gallon to go every time I drove it. I have a 2007 Toyota Yaris as my gas sipping grocery getter and it's still going strong which says a lot for Toyota quality even on their less expensive models. I would absolutely consider buying a Prius for my next fuel efficient car.

I have owned my Prius for 12 years and absolutely LOVE it (2008 option 2 model). It's been extremely good to me; the only nonstandard maintenance I've done is replace the 11V battery in the back, and I had to replace the hybrid battery at 11yrs/175k miles (which I don't think is unreasonable). Being a loyal Prius owner, I test drove the 2020 and HATED it. I don't love the exterior design (although it's better than the last generation), and this shade of blue is obnoxious. You have to turn your head and look at the center every time you want to see your speed etc. (the instrument panel needs to be in the driver's direct field of vision). There is a LOT less rear head room in the 2020 than my 2008; my husband could not sit back there and he is only 6' tall (I'm 5'7" and I felt cramped). I cannot see out of the back of the car when turning my head to reverse like I can in my 2008. Flipping the seats down in the back results in a shelf rather than a large flat surface area for cargo. I went down the street to test drive a Hyundai Ioniq, told the dealer I was a loyal Prius owner, and asked him to make me a believer. He didn't have to - the car sold itself. That was a 2019 model, and I decided to wait for the 2020, so come this September, I plan to buy a 2020 Ioniq Hybrid Limited. It's a better car in every aspect than the 2020 Prius and costs less.

Hi Joe, you are zonking all those "fake" vents but have you heard of the "Golf Ball" effect? In fact Mythbusters covered a car with clay and put round dimples on the clay like a golf ball and they compared with a regular car in MPG. They got better mpg with the car that they put dimples on its surface. So, those fake vents might not function as a vent but they improve aerodynamics for a better MPG. Also eCVT is different than the belt driven CVT.

Remove the useless middle headrest in the back seat to improve rear-view visibility. The Prius does have regenerative braking. In fact, if you take your foot off the accelerator driving down the highway a slight regeneration is engaged putting a drag on the vehicle. I've read the claim "regen during coasting is done to simulate engine drag on a normal car. Every effort was made to make the Prius drive and control in a fashion understandable to drivers." Hey Toyota Engineers - let the Prius truly coast if the last pedal depressed was the accelerator; engage regen if the last pedal depressed was the brake. Driver could engage the long slow regen deceleration by tapping the brake.

I would probably buy the Kia Niro hybrid instead, although the Prius Prime and regular Prius are on the most recent Consumer Reports top ten list, just after the Mazda MX-5 Miata. The Hyundai and Kia hybrids have a longer warranty, especially for the big hybrid battery, and they do not have a small starter battery that needs replacing every 5 to 7 years. The biggest downside is they have not been out long enough to know a lot about how they do with 200 thousand plus miles and 10 years plus for weathering.
@salatzke
@salatzke 4 жыл бұрын
I had to replace the starter battery in my 2008 Prius a couple of years ago, and I replaced the hybrid battery at 11 yrs/175k (which I thought wasn't bad). I had similar thoughts as to the Prius being out for nearly 20 years and the Ioniq only being out for 3, but in the end, hybrid technology has been around a long time and has been proven to be reliable, and Hyundai has an excellent warranty. After test driving both, I am hands down going with the Ioniq.

The keyless entry has never worked, but really, I like it that way, being 71. Plan is to drive it as long as possible. New drive battery is $1600, top qual Chinese. That is not bad really. Another 40 k = 5 to 6 years, it doesn't get any cheaper. I modified the mid speaker and transformed the JBL into something I really like. Huge difference in sound quality. How they allowed it as it came stock is beyond me. I guess they want to sell you a Lexus. I imagine some mods to the door speakers would boost bass, but that just wears out one's ears.

Aerodynamics. Hybrids are very quiet so wind and road noise are amplified. Drive a new Honda Insight and the first thing you notice is the noise, but it is far better looking but it comes at a price, noise. The first thing you notice about the Prius is, very little wind noise. The funky Prius looks also gets you a lot of interior space for its overall size. Bottom line is all Hybrids are massively over priced and make zero financial sense. You’re paying many thousands more to drive a hybrid

it gets much better highspeed mpg bc of low air drag, good aerodynamics

Space ship? No no no... that would be an improvement! The new Prius can be described like a kick in the balls while dancing lambada naked with your grandma... that’s how disgusting that thing is.
