Is the 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing a BETTER performance sedan than a BMW M3 CS?

I really wanted this car but out of my budget for now. I bought an Elantra N Manual to have a little fun in the meantime. But I can’t wait to buy one of these used (manual of course) in 4 to 6 years. I love that it has no problem doing 35 but does exactly what you want it to do when you want it to. So glad I bought one with a manual. That much power in a RWD sedan should not feel as planted as it does.

I worked at GM for 10 years and now I'm at Ford..I'm still a GM man at heart!! Mopar doesn't touch GM in overall engineering.. Especially steering and ride control. My goodness!!

I drive a 2014 Chevy Sonic 1.4 Turbo RS Automatic. Made in S. Korea. Quite reliable. Steering feel is amazing. Turbo is great, except in very steep uphill driving. Paddles are helpful. Turbo does not love 90 degrees temp. Overall, a great combo.

When the used prices stabilizes I'm getting one of these in manual. You can drive with 3 other people and still get the full boogie effect of rowing gears. CT5 Blackwing is my favorite American sedan.

Definitely liking the orange paint job - I would add the bronze wheels with black lug nuts and black center cap to really make it stand out. I'm going to echo here what I wrote on your earlier video of the 2022 car: The funny thing about this car is that everybody who reviews it keeps hammering home that 6 speed manual. Yet you actually give up a bunch of other more modern stuff by NOT going with the automatic such as having faster shifts and more actual gears to work with. There's a reason why in the proper racing space paddle shifters became a thing - they do a better job, especially on cars with a dual clutch transmission. Combine all the other modern advancements like traction control, stability control, AWD, automated braking, hill assist etc. and you begin to realize moving that shifter yourself is actually a major step backwards, never mind if your commute involves stop and go traffic for 2 hours/day each way where you're just punching that clutch in and out without a break. Give that poor left foot of yours a rest. Having said all that I can understand the guys who get the stick shift, because driving it in more normal conditions does make this car rather unique compared to it's competition, and possibly a better deal as well. But I would only get this in a stick if I already had another ride to handle the stop and go city traffic. You really cannot go wrong with either choice, I'm just torn when it comes to going manual on a daily driver.

Great review Joe! I don't know if I love or hate the color, but I do know I love the car's overall look and performance. I would have thought this car was more comparable to the M5CS, while the CT4-V Blackwing was more comparable to the M3CS, but I guess not. I think I'd take the Caddy over the Bimmer (ignoring price) and this is coming from a BMW guy.

I love the Cadillac V Blackwing, what a machine, especially with a manual transmission, there's not to many vehicles of that caliber that still have the manual transmission, and plus, to me, the Cadillac line up looks a lot better than BMW, and plus my mom has a Cadillac CT4 sport, 2021, and that's an amazing car, and that's all she's ever had is Cadillac, for 15 years or more, plus the Cadillac CT5 V Blackwing can travel the length of a football field every second

This Cadillac chases Hellcats! Congrats to all who manage to buy one of these. When you're not driving through the twisty bits, you can play a nice 80s mix CD. Maybe start with "Can't Fight This Feeling" by REO Speedwagon, and progress to "Pride And Joy" by Stevie Ray Vaughan. With all our ICE rides going away, there is "Don't Know What You Got Till It's Gone" by Cinderella.

M3 CS isn’t available or tested, so that can’t be answered but that car will be lighter and with the s58 the ability to make well over 1,000 hp fairly easily. The better comparison is the M5CS and that car will beat the caddy at the strip and the reference road course… the Ring. The blackwing also looks fairly pedestrian compared to the m5 but the big plus (for some) is that manual option

I believe Chevy debut the PDR in the 2016 C7 Corvette Z51 as an option . Especally when car MFG's market a car as a Drivers Car for the track and/or daily use I believe they should all offer it.
